White Lies and Flowers
Fumiko blinked at the boy for a few seconds. Not only was his response something Fumiko wouldn't expect him to say, but the way he spoke like he wanted to show his honesty by looking straight into Fumiko's eyes. That the thing, he isn't .
Only now, with the dim light the Common Garden provided, did she notice the colour of his eyes. No, she did took notice before, she just never acknowledged further. Was he blind? That would explain a lot of things. She felt really stupid for getting too wrapped up in her own problems to notice before.
There was one thing her father taught her about the blind, and that was the worst thing you could do is treat them too differently than you would if they weren't blind. They know they're blind. We know they're blind. What was the point of asking ' *gasp* are youu blinnnnddd?!?! '
' Whatever ' Fumiko thought. She was more concerned about how she would reply to his answer. From his claim that he wasn't a liar to her aunt wanting her to have a friend. Were they true? Fumiko wasn't too sure. Her childlike innocent heart was too happy over the fact she gained a friend.
A friend that she didn't need to act around.
Beaming widely at his response, she grabbed a hold of his shoulders and patted it like a proud father would too a child. " I like you !" she confessed innocently. " You're the first friend I was ever honest with. So you better take care of me, alright~ " she lightly joked in a rough voice and softly punched his shoulder. After the slightly rough punch, she softly laughed and properly bowed down to him. Though she knew he couldn't see it.
" Thank you " she said, in the most fake free, warm tone she used all night, fighting the urge to hug the boy.
Now this simple thank you, will forever be engraved in her memory, as the day Tachibana Fumiko made her first friend.
" Now, that we're friends~ " she chuckled mischievously before getting behind Cecilia and grabbing him by the shoulders . " Let's get inside, we can sneak into the kitchen and grab some pudding. I - k n o w - a - s h o r t - c u t ~ " she mused, childishly before taking his hand into hers and pulling him towards the back kitchen.
At some point on their journey to retrieve pudding, she stopped as she just remembered something. " Oh I forgot. Since we're friend's we don't need to keep secrets between each other right? Well then, I lied. About confessing to my crush. I don't have one and never will! " she declared gleefully, with only the night sky and Cecilia that could hear her.
And she loved it that way.
