Walking On Water
The sounds of retching and coughing filled her ears, and she reached out to give the man a couple of pats on the back sympathetically. "Man, that does not sound fun," Cy said as the gasping continued. The creatures of the Great Lake really were menaces, a lesson she learned the hard way a long time ago when she still went to school here. At least Yuya was safe, more or less. "Hurt anywhere else? Grindylows suckers aren't nice on your skin."
She heard him move away, getting to her feet as well, sweeping her sand-caked skirt off the ground and brushing it off. A few counterspells later, she moved towards the sound of the father-and-son reunion, feet sinking into the cold sand, stopping with folded arms a few feet away.
"I didn't really do much," she shrugged. "Just pulled you back to shore and un-passed you out. Guess I made sure Yuya wouldn't run off again, too. But you got rid of the Grindylows by yourself. I can't swim, so. And moving around in water where there's nothing to touch... not nice." The woman folded her legs under her, taking a seat on the dry land as well, neglecting to slip her wand back into its holster in favor of fiddling with it in both hands. "But maybe start calling me Cy instead of Lian and we'll call it even, yeah? And keep a better hold on your wand next time, you know."
She spun the wand through her fingers again before taking hold of it with one hand, pointing in Yuya's general direction with the blunt end - probably a few feet off, but whatever. "As for you - kind of a traumatizing way to learn your lesson, but at least you're safe. This is why you don't mess with magic you're not ready for, okay? Even adults have to go through training and lessons to make sure that they can do magic safely." Her fingers came back around her head to redo the knot of her blindfold - it'd come loose sometime within the hassle to get the two individuals to the shore. "Frankly, I'm kind of surprised that you managed to give yourself gills and a tail without, I don't know, accidentally chopping off your arm or making the transformation irreversible or something. But until then, you should really listen to your dad, yeah? He just wants to keep you safe."

Walking On Water
Artemis felt his son nod his head against his chest and he, in turn, nodded at Cypress as well. "Thank you again. I don't know what I would have done if you weren't here to help us." Artemis stared at the woman before him. He knew she couldn't see him, of course, but his eyes were filled with absolute gratitude and appreciation. He didn't know what else to say, and he wasn't fond of hugging other people and he doubt this young woman was a hugger herself. It was a bit of an awkward standout between the two adults and the sniveling youngster between them.
Of course, Yuya wasn't as awkward as his father and was a rather bold child to say the lease about his personality. Artemis nearly panicked as he thought he would drop his child back onto the sand when the boy leaned away from him and reached out his tiny hands to Cypress, clasping her shoulders and pulling himself to her instead. Artemis let go when he saw his child wrap his legs around the woman's waist and prayed that she would catch his crazy child before he truly did fall to the ground. He wasn't light by any means, and Cypress was just a stick herself, but he knew she was strong. He would scold Yuya later about just randomly jumping into a woman's arms but for now, if Cypress wasn't shocked at the small human's behavior and decided to carry Yuya even in her blind state, he would allow for this moment between the two of them to last until they reached the castle doors. If not, he would gladly take his child back from the young woman.

OOC: This is about as far as I can go with this thread. If you wish, we can continue but I think that we should head back to the castle and part ways.

Walking On Water
She said nothing in response to the other professor's second thanks, only offering a smile and a nod of her head. Someone watching her might call the gesture being dignified, but she knew better - in truth, she had no idea how to respond to compliments and had resorted to pretending to be mute as well as blind I lied, it's the author who has no clue what to say.
Her shoulders stiffened, though, when she felt two tiny hands grab at them, pulling at the leather of her jacket. Before she could react, the little boy was clinging to her like a koala, and her arms came up automatically to support him around his waist - could you even call toddlers' midsections waists at that point? - and under his legs. With wide eyes under her scarf, she turned to Artemis and mouthed I have no idea what I'm doing, hopefully discreetly enough that Yuya couldn't tell.
"Come on, Yuya, I think we should get back to the castle," she said to the child gently, trying with no little amount of awkwardness to get to her feet without tripping over her skirt or jostling him too much - or, you know, dropping him. She managed, though, and after a fair bit of stumbling and much sand in her shoes, Cy was standing with a child cradled in her arms. What a surreal and also extremely terrifying experience. The horror of having the physical manifestation of responsibility balanced at her side further reinforced the idea that she was never going to have kids.
But she could feel the sun starting to come up, crisp dawn light on her face, and if she didn't want to turn nocturnal and nap until the afternoon before starting on work, then she needed to get back to bed - not to mention the other two, who probably needed to talk without her. Quickly the professor came to the realization that she had no clue which direction she was facing, having lost her sense of her surroundings. Her focus had slipped away as soon as she was certain everyone was out of danger, after all.
Trying and almost failing to find a way to extract one arm without dropping Yuya into the sand, the woman reached out a hand towards Artemis's direction. "If you wouldn't mind, because your kid seems kind of comfy over here..." Godmod permission granted by Artemis Vernatis She felt a hand on her arm, gently leading her to turn a little to the side before making her way over the lakeside.Jesus, this is the shortest reply I've written in forever, but anyway, both professors plus a child who probably has PTSD all return to the castle and exit thread.
