The Great Hall almost looked unrecognizable. Just outside the entrance Diana paused and her eyes were immediately drawn upward as she watched the magical snow drift down from the ceiling. It was strange seeing it fall so peacefully only for each little snow flake to disappear before it could even reach the floor. The scent of gingerbread made the whole room feel even more festive. As Skylar explained what everyone was supposed to do Diana quietly listened and watched with interest as the ornament floated toward the Christmas tree. Her gaze briefly shifted toward the cardboard cut out of Headmaster Lear that was dressed as Santa and she couldn't help but slightly smile at the sight.

Diana made her way over to the boxes of ornaments once Skylar finished speaking. She carefully looked through the different shapes and sizes before settling on a simple round one. After finding a comfortable spot at the table she picked up a pot of blue paint and began decorating. Across the ornament she painted a scattering of tiny stars and added silver dots between them to make it resemble a miniature night sky. It wasn't particularly complicated but Diana liked how it turned out. Once the paint had dried enough she carefully tied a piece of silver string around the top.

With her finished ornament in hand Diana approached Skylar and held it out. She watched as the ornament was levitated onto one of the tree's branches and joined the growing collection of decorations. Diana could've levitated the ornament herself as she knew the spell but she didn't want to mess up and had her breaking her own ornament. She'd need more practice before she used the spell especially on something as fragile as an ornament. Diana simply admired the tree for a moment. It was already beginning to feel a little more like Christmas even though it was only mid September.

Ornament Decorating Table Errand
After she finished with her cookies, Aster headed to the ornament table, where a blue-haired Gryffindor prefect stood overseeing what appeared to be a mountain of ribbons, ink, glitter, and other crafting supplies. The Christmas tree was already beginning to sport a varied collection of handmade ornaments, and Aster was looking forward to adding her own.

She approached the table and started sorting through the blank ornaments, searching for the perfect one. She moved past a gnome, a broom, a star, a plain circle, and a witch's hat before settling on the crescent moon.

Aster grabbed a few supplies and made her way to an empty spot on the table before spreading out. She dipped a brush into the ink and started work, humming a carol under her breath.

By the time she'd made it to the fourth verse, the ornament was taking shape. She had created a silvery base layer and started to add hints of color, darker areas, and a bit of glitter on the top edge. It didn't look exactly like the moon, but she thought the flecks of blue and purple added a sense of mystique.

She quickly finished, tied a blue ribbon to the top, and carried it over to be hung. As it floated up to join the rest of the ornaments, Aster couldn't help but admire the creativity of Hogwarts students. The tree was looking beautiful, bright, and colorful, and Aster suspected that it would be even more so by the end of the day.

An endless wave of boredom settled heavily in her chest. Skylar stared up at the snow that was magically falling nonstop above the Slytherin table. Her eyes remained fixed on nothing in particular, as though her soul had quietly left her body and drifted somewhere into the empty space inside her head. The lingering cheer and excitement of the crowd seemed distant and strangely blurred, as if someone had been tampering with a Time-Turner and thrown the entire evening out of rhythm.

Every now and then, the movement around her made her feel a bit dizzy. She blinked several times, hoping the feeling would pass, but it did not. With a quiet sigh, she lowered her gaze and looked over the little activities scattered around the table. There were plates of snacks, cups of steaming hot cocoa, colourful decorations, and small festive crafts waiting for students to participate. The sweet scent of tea, the sort that usually called out to her appetite from across a room, should have tempted her into reaching for another cup. Tonight, however, even that did nothing. The hollow feeling she had carried around for days seemed determined to smother whatever enthusiasm she might have had. “What’s wrong with me?” she mumbled under her breath. Perhaps she simply needed something to occupy herself with. Anything. Sitting there and staring into space was certainly not going to make the evening any better. If anything, it was giving her far too much time to think. Skylar glanced around the table, searching for something that might drag her attention away from her thoughts. Eventually, she decided to start with one of the festive decorating activities. That would do. At least it required her to use her hands.

She had already watched the girl who shared her name give a brief explanation of the activity from afar, so Skylar had a general idea of what she was supposed to do. She reached for one of the small white pieces of plastic and a pen before finding an empty spot at the edge of the table. She sat down and stared at the blank surface. What was she supposed to write? A wish? An encouragement? Something cheerful and festive? Her pen hovered above the plastic without touching it. She frowned. “Right…” She tapped the pen against her chin. “A wish.” That sounded simple enough. But what did she actually wish for? Good grades? More freedom? A new plant? Those were easy answers, but somehow none of them felt quite right. She scratched her head, then stared at the blank space again. Perhaps she could draw something instead. A flower, maybe. Or a little spider. She began sketching a tiny outline, only to stop halfway through and stare at it with growing uncertainty. It looked like a fly and more like something that had been stepped on.

Skylar frowned at her drawing. “Brilliant.” She rubbed it out and started again. She scratched her head so many times that the students sitting nearby eventually began casting mildly disgusted looks in her direction. She either did not notice or simply chose to ignore them. For once, she was not particularly concerned about what anyone thought. Her mind was too busy trying to find a single thing she genuinely wanted to put down. Then, after several long seconds, her pen finally stopped moving. Maybe she did not need to write something impressive. She could simply place something she wanted to remember in the plastic and cover it with a bow. Something small. Something that belonged to her. Skylar looked at the blank space again, her expression softening for the first time that evening. She lowered the pen and finally began to reach into her pocket, bringing out her notebook. Through the pages were stuffed many kinds of leaves in there.

🎄 LOCATION: The Great Hall (Ornament Station)

🎄 INTERACTING: @Skylar Blue

Walking away from the card-making table Bartholomew decided to take advantage of the unexpected holiday feelings. The Great Hall was completely transformed. Right in the middle there was a very big Christmas tree. Skylar Blue, a Gryffindor Prefect was in charge of the station with a lot of happy energy. Bartholomew adjusted the guitar on his back giving the Santa-hat-wearing cutout of Headmaster Lear another very judging look.

"This whole thing is totally crazy but the look is really good" he thought, watching the enchanted snow fall without touching the floor.

He slipped into a spot at the crafting table avoiding a group of loud first-years who were making a big mess with the glitter pots. He did not want to make something flashy. He just wanted to spend some time doing something. Reaching into one of the boxes he took out a round white ornament. He grabbed a paintbrush along with some dark brown and silver paint and started working.

Of the usual holiday drawings Bartholomew carefully painted a simple shape of an acoustic guitar next to a tree with tiny silver paw prints around the back—a quiet reminder of his Egyptian Mau, Pearl. It was not too much; just calm and peaceful.

Bartholomew tied a piece of string to the top of his finished piece. He waited for a moment when the crowd was not too busy before walking over to where Skylar was giving a friendly smile.

"Hey buddy, W on this station. It is a good setup honestly" he said smoothly handing the painted ornament to her. "Can you put this one there? Somewhere quiet, near the back is okay no problem."

He stepped back. Watched as Skylar happily waved her wand using Wingardium Leviosa to gently move his acoustic-themed ornament high onto a strong pine branch. Bartholomew gave a approving nod. It was a quiet mark left on a very busy afternoon.

Ornament Decorating Table Errand
Decorations.

Aaron wasn't a big fan of decorations personally, but today he wanted to give a hand in helping decorating the castle for the festivities.

So, after consuming Gingerbread Lear, Aaron headed of towards the Decorations table, which he saw was being managed by the Second Year Gryffindor Prefect.

There it was told that they were going to decorate the ornaments in front of them to hang them on the huge Christmas tree in the Hall. Each person was allowed to design the ornaments however they wished to do so and include other things such as their name, a note or a doodle of sorts. Once done, the Prefect would levitate and hang them on the tree using the Levitation charm, Wingardium Leviosa.

Aaron hadn't learnt many spells yet but was excited to see more magic in action. He took one of the balls and began working on them.

As proven earlier with the hastily eaten Gingerbread Lear, Aaron wasn't known for his drawing skills, and even less for his creative skills, especially in the field of art. With this happy thought in mind, Aaron began to look around the Hall for an inspiration for the ball.

And then it clicked him. Why not just draw the huge Christmas Tree in front of him? Even better, why not make it so that inside his tree would be another ball with another tree on it. They would be relatively tinier, and harder to spot on the huge tree in front of him, but it would look good for an interesting Inception styled art.

With this in mind, Aaron began to draw a Christmas Tree on his ball. As he was drawing it, he began to realised he had started a bit too small for the inception drawing.

Discarding the original Christmas Ball, Aaron took a new one and began drawing on that. This time it came out larger, allowing him to draw a Christmas Ball in it. He tried to draw it in such a place where he could request it to be hung from, which was somewhere in the middle.

After drawing the ball inside, Aaron began drawing the final tree inside the ball. After finishing it and being happy with his work, Aaron signed it off with his name and walked towards the Gryffindor Prefect, ornament in hand.
"Hey Skylar. I've made this inception styled decoration on the Christmas Ball. Can you hang it at the same position as shown in the drawing? That would really sell the inception theme!"
After seeing his ball being hung, Aaron headed off towards the final table, the Card Making table.
