Among The Bunnies PV Puck :) Closed

Talia looked confused as Puck said something about her being badass. She was by no means badass. The little girl was quite frankly the opposite of that, a little soft child that just wanted fuzzy socks for Christmas. But maybe if the other people in the group were badass she could offer some comic relief and give hugs when they were feeling down? Tal supposed that would be her main role if she were ever on a badass team.

"Yeah, and tell them that if they aren't nice to you then I'll...." she paused, trying to think of a good threat. "Then I'll steal all their cinnamon buns," she finished confidently.

Talia just followed Elena along, trusting her with all her heart. The little girl was definitely as loyal as a dog to those friends she loved, especially to Puck. Probably even more loyal. No, not probably. Definitely. She'd follow Puck to hell and back. And she'd bring candy along with so that Puck would never be hungry, because being hungry isn't fun. She'd have to figure out which candy bar Puck's favorite was, because it's even worse when you have candy that you can't stand.

"I'm good! I'm glad I'm here too, or, er... I mean, I'm glad you're here too," she laughed at her mistake. "Yeah. I mean, emotions are hard sometimes," she mumbled as she thought about their mutual friend, Rorie, and the recent events. "But it's going good! What about you?"

There were very few people that Elena valued over herself, before she came it had been Eliza. The closest thing she had ever had to a little sister, but since coming to this school the list had gained a few people. Min-seo had been the first, Rorie the second. Bella was the best friend she had in this world, and she was the third. Alan had been a big surprise, but somehow had snuck his way past Elena's defences when she wasn't looking. Then came Talia Piper, somehow she had thought the girl was Eliza when they first met, and since then she'd proven herself loyal, sweet, kind, and just like a little sister.

Elena smiled softly at her friend, "Cinnamon buns? I'll have to buy some and send them to you for Christmas. I don't think I've actually had any before, maybe if I ask nicely I can get a house elf to make me one. The elves are sweet hearts you know? They just like being talked to as people sometimes."

She looked around at the snow and had an idea, "Hey Tal, I've heard that people make these things called snowmen, and I haven't ever done it before."

Her eyes sparkled as she turned to her friend, "Any chance you could show me how?"

Tal smiled. "Yay! Cinnamon buns! I love..." before the girl could say cinnamon buns, she remembered that she was being intimidating. She stood on her tiptoes to get bigger, and tried to scowl, failing and instead just looking happy. "I love stealing cinnamon buns. From those that disagree that Elena Jones isn't the best," she finished.

"Yeah, the house elves are sweet! Once I had a good chat with one of them about toast..." she mumbled, laughing.

Then the subject of a snowman was brought up. Tal loved snow, even if she spent most of her childhood in a small beach town. She'd remembered times when her family would go to the nearby mountains for a weekend in the winter, so that she and her sister could still experience the white fluff.

"Sure! I love snowmen! I prefer to call them snow-pals, though. In case the snow is non-binary or something," she explained happily. "So you obviously start by getting snow. And you roll the snow around in the... other snow until you have a big snow sphere," she explained as she demonstrated.

"And then you do it again, but just make the sphere a bit tinier so when you put it on top it stays!"

Elena looked up at Tal, because Elena is in fact shorter than Tal right now, "How about I buy you some cinnamon buns instead? I need to try them, they sound amazing. I like cinnamon."

Elena poked Tal and beamed as she made a terrible pun, "You mean it would have snow gender."

The girl watched carefully as Tal made the first snow ball, "Like this?"

She managed to make a pretty good sphere, smaller than the other one and put it on top of Tal's, it seemed to be working relatively well, it didn't fall over for example. Which was a win according to Elena, and probably also for Tal who was standing right next to the snowman and would get immediately splashed by any form of failure on Elena's part.

"So, what's in store for Talia Piper over Christmas? I'm headed to Bella's place, she invited me and that's pretty cool, I like her honestly I think she might be one of my best friends in this world. Have you met her? If not I'll have to introduce you, she likes dragons and she's really cool." Elena smiled as she patted down the snow to make the snowman look more whole.

She smiled. "Yeah, I guess just being given cinnamon buns would work too. And you should try them! They're amazing. Actually, I'll just share mine with you when I get them," she said matter-of-factly. There was nothing Puck could do to prevent it, Tal would share her cinnamon buns whether Elena liked it or not.

Then Puck made a pun, which was actually really clever. Tal laughed at the joke. "Definitely. Snow gender," she said, repeating the pun, amused.

"Perfect!" Tal complimented her friend as she replicated her own moves. "Yeah, that's all there is to it! Now we get to decorate it!"

Tal looked around for any objects to use to make the snowpal prettier. She settled on picking up a few rocks for the buttons on the torso, two sticks for the arms. Removing her own scarf, Tal wrapped it around the snowpal's neck gently, and then looked to Puck.

"You can use anything you want, really! It's all up to your mind. For now, we need to make a face!" she pipped, readjusting her, or, well, the snowpal's scarf as it blew in the wind.

There was a bit of gravel from the side of the river, so Elena ran over and scooped some, then carefully arranged it to give the snowpal a happy smile. It didn't look half bad, and the girl smiled happily at her accomplishment, "Now, I think they need one more accessory..."

Elena looked at the snowpal and thought about what she could do to make it better, then she took off the beret she'd been wearing and put it up on the happy little snow creature, "Very fashionable, what do you think Tal? Beret cool?"

The punk rocker was definitely on a roll with the puns today, and she hoped it lightened Tal's mood, there was something not quite right going on, and she felt like it was needed. Also, puns are the highest form of humour, and as much as she tried to hide it. Elena was only a kid, a scared and sort of broken kid, but a kid all the same. At times like this she felt healed, almost normal again. It felt good, no vengeance, no plans, no past coming back to haunt her. Just Elena Jones hanging out with her good friend Tal, and having the time of her life.

“Yay! It’s happy!” Tal squealed as Puck added a smile to the cute little snow creation. “Good job!”

Tal watched with wonder as her friend took her hat from on top of her head, and placed it on the snowpal. The girl sort of suspected another pun coming, after all, Puck was very clever. And Tal hoped there would be a pun, Tal liked puns. Puns were fun. Elena cracked another joke, and Tal laughed at the wordplay.

“Yes. It is very fashionable, beret cool,” she agreed between giggles.

“Did you ever watch the movie Frosty the Snowman? It’s about a snowman that comes alive when the kids put a magic hat on it’s head. Maybe that’ll happen to our snowpal!” she exclaimed, a twinkle of hope and excitement in her eyes. As a little girl Tal had always wished that would happen, but it never had. But they were at Hogwarts now, a magical school. Could it happen? Tal hoped it could, but she wasn’t sure, especially because she was sure no first year knew any charm to animate it, and she wasn’t sure if there even was a spell anyway. But she could use her imagination, she supposed.

“Also, we need to name it! Should it be something wintery? Maybe Blizzard? Or Tinsel?” she suggested happily.

"Frosty the Snowman? I've heard the story before, and the song. Not seen the movie, I'll have to ask Bella or Alan about it when I go and see them!" Elena beamed at Tal, "Our snowpal would be the coolest singing snowman! That would be awesome!"

Another thing checked off of Elena's Christmas list, making a snowman. It was important to do little things like this, to make sure she didn't miss out on being a kid. She'd read in books about people regretting it, so the list was born. There wasn't a lot left on it, since her friends had kindly obliged and helped out with some of it. It felt really good to have friends.

"Ooo! Names! What to do, Blizzard sounds good, Tinsel would mean we had to get them tinsel to put on. We could go with the classic "Snowy" as well." Elena smiled, "Whichever one you like Tal. I'm just happy to be hanging out with you, thanks for showing me how to do this. It's another thing ticked off the Elena Jones list of Christmas."

Elena pulled the crumpled piece of paper and a sparkly pen out of her pocket, then drew a line through "Snowman". She showed it to Tal, "Here! You can tell me if anything needs adding."

"Yeah. I like it. You should watch it," she encouraged sweetly, smiling a lopsided grin. For the little girl, one of the best parts of the holiday season were the music and movies. Of course, Tal liked pretty much everything about the holiday season, especially rainbow fairy lights. She absolutely loved those.

"Do you think that Blizzard would be in our band? Maybe they'd be singing in our band? Do you think they'd be a soprano, or a mezzo-soprano, or an alto, or... or maybe all of the different ones cos they're a magical snowman!" she said dreamily, laughing as she imagined what it would be like if the snowpal in front of her was part of her band, singing with them as they performed for a live audience.

"I like hanging out with you! You're cool. I wanna be cool like you!" Tal beamed.

When Elena handed her the Christmas to-do list, Tal's eyes lit up. There were so many things she'd want to share with Puck, she wanted her friend to have an awesome winter.

Tal quickly wrote down on the paper, buy a santa hat, wear a santa hat to the list, handing it back to Puck with the addition of her loopy little elegant scribble.

Elena nodded, "You're right, Blizzard would probably be able to do all ranges, I mean they are a magic snowpal. I think they'd be great in the band, we'd have to keep them away from fire though, so no pyrotechnics. Although I'm not sure where we'd even get pyrotechnics, or if they're allowed. Are they allowed?"

"You're already really cool Tal. Thank you though." Elena wasn't sure why anybody would want to be like her. Sure she had nice hair and was a bit snarky, a bit mischievous, but that all paled in comparison to what most people couldn't see was going on in her head. Slightly fractured, all alone, tired, scared. Those were the words that described Elena Jones, not cool and likeable. Afraid and broken.

"Although we could always get you some hair dye if you wanted." Elena grinned, "Green? Purple? I can always find some pastel pink..."

Elena smiled and nodded at the list, "Santa hat? I'm sure I can pick one up at diagon, I'm sure my pirate hat won't feel too bad about it, it is Christmas after all. Although I could add some bells to it and make that hat Christmasy, that's always an option. Decisions desicions..."
