Min-seo didn’t mine about Elena’s past. Which was good, instead she seemed genuinely relieved that she was alive, which felt nice in a way, like she was maybe cared about, if only a little bit. The fields and forests along the side of the railway flew by and the smell of the countryside filled the room from the open window, Elena smiled a little bit, the first real smile she’d had in years. This moment felt so perfect, if she had a camera she would’ve tried to preserve it, but the memory would be enough. At least for now, she didn’t think she would last long in the world of magic, Elena had a good memory and a clever mind, but there were kids here who grew up in this, who knew people and probably a few spells already.

“I’ve never seen this much countryside before, it’s beautiful. So many trees and so much horizon. Scotland’s guides don’t do it justice.” Elena looked dreamily out the window, “It’ll be a nice cold winter there, maybe there’ll be roast chestnuts or fireplaces, I‘d like some roast marshmallows too. My birthday’s in December, maybe I could have a real birthday this year, with cake, that would be nice...”

Min-seo looked at the rolling tan hills and felt the wind on her hand. She felt at peace if anything. She smiled at Elena with a childlike innocence from happiness. She took out a Polaroid camera from her bookbag on her shoulder. Maybe later. For now, just embrace the peace of the moment. She felt happy like she was 6 years old again, before everything happened and destroyed her life. She quietly sang to herself, not paying much attention to her surroundings.

Min-seo looked at her quickly. "Winter is my favorite season. My birthday is in January. And I will personally make it my duty for you to have a good birthday. Which day? Mine's January 10, right after New Years," She said with a smile. She looked at her Polaroid. "Do you mind if I take a picture? I want to remember this moment." she asked. Before doing so, she wondered if she could lift up the window a little more to stick her head out. She stood on the tips of her toes and tried to reach it. She moved it up a bit, but a sudden jolt of the train sent her flying, and she hit the ground.

Elena was about to agree to the picture when Min-seo went flying and hit the ground a moment later, Elena dropped down next to her, “Oh my god! Are you okay? I have some bandages if you need them, or anything. That was quite a jolt.”

She dug through her backpack to find the little first aid kit, “There’s also some bruise ointment if you want that, I got it from that cool little joke shop. Probably magical so it’ll work better than the other stuff. Do you need a hand up?”

The first aid kit was of course in the very last place she looked in her bag, she pulled it out and opened it. Min-seo probably wasn’t very hurt, but it still payed to be prepared in case she was. Falling over still hurt no matter the actual injuries, “Also, I’d love to take a picture with you, and you’re definitely invited to my birthday, you’re really cool. I’m glad I made it here to meet you too. I like you. January is a nice month, I like it, it’s got a lot of snow. I just love snow, it’s magical, I like making mini snowmen. They’re fun.”

Min-seo sat up from the fall and rubbed her head with a sheepish smile. "Y-yeah I'm okay. Karma for being light I guess. And there's no hurt in using the ointment." She looked at her arm she used to break the fall with before she hit her head. It was swelling up, purple and yellow growing at the base of her elbow. She looked at it and winced. Great job Min, way to go. Way to fly and fall on your already hurt arm. She thought to herself.

"Do you need a hand up?”

She nodded, taking her hand with her small one. She stood up. "Thank you." she said with a shy smile. She sat back down, holding her arm, wincing.

“Also, I’d love to take a picture with you, and you’re definitely invited to my birthday, you’re really cool. I’m glad I made it here to meet you too. I like you. January is a nice month, I like it, it’s got a lot of snow. I just love snow, it’s magical, I like making mini snowmen. They’re fun.” Elena said.

She smiled and held her polaroid in her hands. "I'm glad I'm an okay person to you. Snow is the best weather, but I don't really do good in cold temperatures." She moved over to sit by Elena to take the picture.

Min-seo was more than an okay person, she was a good one. Elena had always had a sense for whether or not someone was nice, it helped her out a lot in the past, and the pretty girl was nice, genuinely nice. She seemed to be a rare soul, and Elena half expected little songbirds to come flying through the window to give her gifts.

Elena grabbed the bruise ointment and started dabbing it on Min-seo’s arm, “I would offer you some candy but I don’t have any. I do pretty well in cold temperatures, I used to joke my hair was blue because I had ice magic. I guess I do have magic now, which is pretty amazing, although your elves are weird, they seem more like hobgoblins, or brownies, you know those faeries that are meant to help you clean and stuff?”

Elena beamed at the camera when Min-seo came to sit down next to her, leaning in a bit closer although being wary of her hurt arm. No need to hurt it more, “Being light is a good thing, it means you can do neat jumping tricks, with heavier people they just don’t work. I used to be able to jump over six metres of rooftop with a running start. That was pretty cool.”

Min-seo looked at Elena as she dabbed the ointment on her arm. She felt extremely grateful. No one had really helped her like this, at least not anyone outside of her family. "Thank you. I'm sorry I fell," she said quietly with a smile. She looked down after, her hair hiding her face, which had a small grin on it still.

"I don't need candy, it's fine, thank you though," she said with a small giggle, also because of the comment on ice magic.
"Yes, you could use some magic to do cool things with ice or something. Animals always seem to like me, and some little kid saw me in the woods with a doe and asked if I was a fairy or something. she said, laughing a little.
"Oh, house elves. They aren't the prettiest creatures, and I feel slightly bad for them, being punished by their masters. But they love working, so I leave them be. she said with a small frown, feeling bad.
"Maybe. I never thought about being light that way before. And that's really cool! I could never jump that far, I do ballet, would that help......probably not." she said with a big smile. She put her polaroid up. "Ready?"

House elves were beaten? Masters? That seemed a bit weird, Elena thought slavery had been outlawed, but if someone as good and nice as Min-seo said they liked working so maybe it wasn’t exactly that. Weird, the blue haired girl decided to avoid conversations about that particular set of magical creatures, maybe when she knew more about magic as a whole she’d bother to think about it again.
“Don’t apologise, I’m just not used to people falling for me.” Elena punctuated the joke with a wink, “So animals do love you. I thought you seemed like a disney princess. I mean that in a good way of course, you’re sweet and nice, it’s awesome. I like archetypes. I’m the rugged lovable rogue of course, here to steal your heart.”

“As much as I like the idea of ice powers, I would prefer wind powers, or shadow powers. I could do so much with shadow, they’re everywhere you know? Or if I had wind powers I could sail around the world without needing to worry about weather. I’d be the best explorer!”

“Ballet might help, they have those crazy cool jumps right? It would be awesome to see that in real life, maybe there’s a ballet club at school. That would be awesome.” Elena leaned toward Min-seo, “Ready!”

"Yes, I know it's a bit confusing, I don't really like the masters' thing," she said.
She blushed at the pun and lightly slapped her arm in a joking matter. "Oh stop it," she said, her face still red.
Disney princess? Me? No way. They are like, perfect in every way possible. I'm not like that. And thank you, she said quietly, "And the rouge thing does make a little sense, not in a bad way, and steal my heart? Good luck!" she said jokingly.

Min-seo smiled. "That would be so cool! I would probably want......maybe water powers, controlling water sounds cool." she said with a smile.
"Ballet would help? Oooooh now I want to try, but I don't want to fall. And they do have those crazy cool jumps. It's hard but fun." She said, still smiling.
"Okay! Smile!" she said. She took the picture, the flash going off, and the picture came out of the top, still forming.

Elena watched with excitement as the polaroid printed the picture. She could already see the photograph forming, and it looked nice, happy. A happy moment caught in time.

“What makes you think you’re not perfect in every way?” Elena smiled and leaned back against her seat, “I for one, haven’t seen anything to disprove that theory.”

“I’ll teach you how to do jumps like that, if you want that is. I used to teach other kids how to get up to the rooftops, they’re quite high but once you’re up you could see stars, I thimk the stars out here will be even better. I’m looking forward to Astronomy I think, and History of Magic. I like the idea of learning about what happened, it’s all so cool. Like a real life fantasy book!” Elena grinned, “Although the stuff I read about your history is a bit weird, how come wizards have so many crazy people? You seem to have some kind of rising darkness or other every twenty years like clockwork.”

Elena looked through the glass door, “I wonder what the kids out there are so excited about, they seem to be ordering something but I can’t really see what it is.”

Min-seo looked at the picture and smiled. It was really pretty. The sunlight was filtering in perfectly, and they both looked so happy. She looked at Elena and blushed a little from her comment.
"Well, I'm not exactly pretty, to be fair, I'm average." she said in a small voice.
"And would you really? I would love that! It sounds so cool! she said with excitement. "And stars are beautiful. They actually help me calm down, and I wish I could actually touch them." she said this while holding up her hand slightly with a smile. "But of course, that's not possible. They're a million miles from here. And I'm honestly looking forward to all the classes, they seem so interesting! And well, the crazy people, I'm not sure anymore. Hopefully I don't get caught up in one of the wars, like when Voldemort was alive......" she shivered a bit. She stood up and looked out the glass door. She smiled. It seemed like a woman was handing out food and sweets on a trolley. She looked back at Elena. "Food and sweets it seems like. A lady had a trolley full of them. Would you like anything?" she asked.
