Stone Benches, Soft Words PV - Wes Morrow

"Hmm... So are you telling me my life would be boring?" Rose asked an eyebrow raised at Wes comment about how haunting someone -her specifically in that context- would be boring.
"Because as I said you're too nice to really haunt someone and troubles them. That's why it would be boring for you." she paused thinking that actually not every ghost haunting people are like that though.
"Well you could haunt me as a friend. You'll be my ghost friend so that would not be that boring for you since we would do things together like now with the difference that you will be a ghost." she then said enthusiastically hoping for Wes to agree with her idea. Of course she was not wishing him to die and become a ghost.

Once more Wes said Ireland instead of Scotland affirming they are not that different just to annoy and tease Rose. She sighed.

"You're a tease aren't you." she commented as she chuckled.

Rose too was often teasing people especially the ones she was comfortable with but it seemed Wes had beating her at it. He wasn't missing any opportunity for it. Yet it was making her laugh.

"Let's say yes we are same." Rose finally said more for Wes to give up than her admitting it.
"Although we are still different yes we are close." she finally said more to close this debate even if yes it was true and she knew it.

Then Wes called her Rosie the nickname she despised as he was making fun of her not to have get earlier he was playing around with her about the someone else stalking him.

"Don't know who you are talking to." Rose said smirking as she didn't want to answer to the name Rosie.

However she had to admitted he got her well as she thought there were indeed two people even though she had doubted the veracity of it from the start.

"I was thinking it was looking like me, your description. Close enough." she paused sighing but a smile appeared on her lips.
"I knew it from the start you were playing around and making fun of me I just played around." she said on a content tone despite that was not completely true.

Actually she did believe there was someone else. Even if she wondered about the description she still got fooled by him. Nonetheless she was too proud to admit it and gave him this satisfaction. Not out of mean but she also wanted to tease him.

"Don't get you hopes up. I'm not stalking like stalking you." she said on a feigned annoyed tone as she was internally laughing.

Wes agreed to her suggestion of going for a walk and exploring around. Albeit she made the offer she had no idea where to go as she thought Wes would know or propose somewhere.

Rose thought before asking him.

"Hmm. Is there a place around you want to go to discover because you have not been yet? Or just one you like going to, a favourite one per say?" she hoped he would precisely answer to the questions.

Wes threw his hands up in mock surrender. “I’m not exactly saying it will be, but you never know. There could be far worse people to haunt I guess.”

He then smirked and shrugged his shoulders. “You know who will get really peeved if you say that they’re basically English? The Irish. My oldest sister dated a boy who’s Irish and she said it to him as a joke. Apparently he was so fuming, wanted to break up with her then and there. He calmed down though, but Mary ended up tossing him to the curb eventually. That made Dad happy.” Wes said it all just rambling on, seeming to have put the nervousness behind him.

“Yeah. You like Rosie.” Wes said, simply, “don’t worry. I’ll use it sparingly.” He winked at her. “And you thought me serious, I can see it in your eyes.” He said, laughing about how Rose said she knew he was joking the whole time of his two stalkers. “I could have a worse stalker I guess.”

Wes then scrunched his nose and shrugged lightly. “Actually… I don’t know. I’m not sure I have a favorite place. At least one you can go to. What about you? Take me to one of your favorite spots.”

Rose didn't say anything but chuckled at Wes comment about haunting people. However when he mentioned Irish would get pissed off for telling them they are English Rose smiled mischievously before suggesting him.

"Then I suppose you should haunt an Irish. And if you don't know who why not the boy your sister dated." Rose laughed.

It was agreeable to be able to talk freely and openly about random things while being able to laugh. That was a thing she was appreciating about Wes. The way he seemed to take things as they were coming not really caring about it much -exams appeared to be the only exception though-. At least that was Rose's feelings and what she was getting from Wes' energy. Maybe she was wrong maybe right but that wouldn't change the fact time spent with him was always enjoyable.

Only to bother her Wes kept saying she liked Rosie as a nickname. She pressed her lips together annoyed. It was not a real annoyance as if she were mad but she couldn't help to be frustrated at how it was easy for Wes to tease her and that was working on her really easily.

In addition to that he could also fool her easily as he did and he knew it. Rose was like an open book. It was really hard for her to hide her emotions so by just a look people could easily know what she may feel or think. She should work on it as it could be useful for her to better hide her emotions in the future.

"I'm sure you would be disappointed if I were not your stalker." Rose told Wes a mischievous look in her eyes.
"I'm the best and nicest stalker ever." she proudly added before starting to slightly laugh at her own silliness.

As expected but as she would have wished Wes didn't have any favourite places he wanted to go. Nevertheless he asked Rose to take him to hers. Thankfully and hopefully otherwise they would be continuing thinking where to go without in the end going anywhere Rose had indeed a place she particularly appreciated going to. It was the Great Lake.

She sighed a small smile on her lips as she slightly shook her head side to side.

"Be thankful I'm here then." she teasingly said Wes.
"I suppose yes it is my favourite place as I am often going here and I really appreciate it. It's the Great Lake." she smiled looking away.
"Then I suppose we are heading there?" she asked smiling looking back at Wes.

"Why would I want to haunt someone who can't even do magic? That would be even more boring!" Wes said with a laugh before shrugging at what she was saying, as if he would be disappointed if she was not stalking him. With a hand over his heart, the boy feigned injury. "I'm not sure how I would go on, I couldn't!" The voice he made was a mocking impression of something one might see in a Shakespearean play.

"The Great Lake, huh? Not sure if I'm up for a swim in this weather, but that sounds nice." When Rose spoke, assuming they would head there, Wes moved to walk in step beside her. "So why is it one of your favorite places?" The joking tone was gone, his question genuine, as he walked along with her.

While it was creeping ever closer to the winter holidays, the day was not so cold that this would be an uncomfortable journey. It was a nice day, a good day for it, and sadly, most people would be inside studying and reading to make sure they were rightfully prepared. Everyone needed a break, though.

"I don't really think I have explored much of the Grounds. I want to, but I just haven't really." The boy shifted as they walked. He looked at her as if he was going to say something, but closed his mouth. He did speak a few seconds later, but it was likely different than what he was originally going to say. "There is a nice climbing tree out by the lake, though."

Rose couldn't help but laugh at Wes' dramatic interpretation of him feigning a bad heart injury if she were not stalking him.

"Surely you couldn't go on as you would even beg me to stalk you!" she said jokingly a mischievous look in her light green eyes.

Rose could say now Wes was definitely relaxing for real this time as it seemed he felt way more comfortable and having his mind less wandering elsewhere. She was glad and relieved he was forgetting a bit about the exams. And she was too.

At the mention of the Great Lake being Rose's favourite place Wes joke on not wanting to swim there. Rose looked at him her eyes sparkling as an idea popped up in her mind.

"Of course you can't swim it's too cold unless you wish to die."
"But..." her sight got deeper as her mischief rose. "it's frozen." she kept looking at Wes hoping he would get a hint on where she was going.

At the question why The Great Lake was her favourite place outside -since library was her favourite place inside the castle- many reasons were to it. Could she list them all to Wes? Probably but that would be quite long and he might not want to have such detailed reasons. However he still asked meaning he was curious about it. Actually Rose didn't -and shouldn't- overthink too much about her answer and just say what she wanted to.

"Mmmh...There are several reasons for it to be my favourite place." she paused as she turned to him raising her index as a one for the first reason. "It's peaceful and calm." second finger raised "It's not too close from the castle allowing to have nice walk." third finger raised "It's refreshing. It helps me clearing my mind up and better think." fourth finger raised "It's the place of a special moment with a special person." she smiled at the thought before raising her fifth finger "You'll understand -hopefully- when we will get there." she chuckled at the mystery she was creating hoping to rise Wes' curiosity and interest.

They were getting closer to the lake as Rose was getting even more joyful. It felt to her as if she were on holidays already totally forgetting about her parchments, books and quill waiting for her in the library as well as the upcoming exams. However she would be way more productive after this long break as her brain would have rested and had a breath of fresh air.

"Well now it's the perfect opportunity to start exploring!" Rose said enthusiastically as she smiled at Wes.

Then Rose saw him looking at her without saying anything yet it seemed he was thinking of something he wanted to say or ask perhaps. After sometimes he mentioned a nice climbing tree by the lake. Rose quickly glanced at him wondering if that was really what he intended to say.

"A nice climbing tree..." she quietly repeated to herself finding the coincidence to obvious to be true as she once climbed a tree there.

"That wasn't what you wanted to say was it?" she finally asked looking at him right into they eyes trying to read something.
"What was it?" she hoped Wes would not ignore her question and sincerely answer to it as she was curious what his real thoughts were.

Wes followed alongside her. When Rose said the water would be too cold to swim, the boy laughed too and said, "Really? Too cold in the winter? I never would've guessed." He did pause, though, when she mentioned it was frozen. "Skating?" It was a simple one-word response from Wes, and he had a brow arched at her, showing that it had piqued his interest.

As Rose started to name the reasons why this was her favorite place, Wes chuckled, more inwardly than what was shown outwardly, at her using her fingers to count them off. He smiled as she went through the list, as it made her happy to recall the events, even if it was just little descriptions of each. However, when she mentioned the fourth reason, he tilted his head slightly, and his ears even perked just a bit. "What kind of special moment?" His face had a look of genuine interest, though he did follow it with a joke, "You're not going to try and drown me out there, are you? I have a few inches on, Bookworm."

Wes chuckled again, and they kept walking. His stride did falter for a second when she asked him about what he really wanted to say. The boy attempted to play it off again, a slight smile, not the smirk that was normally on his face, as this one seemed a little more intentionally made instead of natural, formed. "Huh? No, it was nothing. Despite the smile, his freckles on his face moved upward oddly. Normally, they rested in a line just below his eyes, but now they moved upward to almost the sides of his eyes and looked like bubbles moving off hot steam.

Wes attempted to follow it with something that would fit, with the smile still on his face, and looked down the path they were on. "Well, it was just that I think you might be too short to climb the trees." This was not what he was going to say originally at all. However, the smile turned to a more real one, and he nudged her playfully with his shoulder.

As they were walking together towards the lake they were soon going to reach Rose was really enjoying Wes' presence as they were joking and laughing together. It was just a calm and relaxing time two friends were spending together forgetting all the exams' worries.

When he made fun of her remark about the weather being to cold to swim she rolled her eyes in a feigned annoyance before laughing. He was such a tease never missing an opportunity. But when he mentioned skating to Rose she smiled mischievously at him glad he got her hint and her idea.

"Exactly!" she grinned.

"Do you know how to?" she asked him.

Rose didn't do a lot of ice skating but she knew how to and was enjoying it a lot. However they didn't have any ice skates with them right now so they couldn't ice skating anyways. Unless they were making them appearing but it was unlikely their magic level was high enough. They still could come back and try it out later.

When Rose was stating her reasons for the Great Lake to be his favourite place she saw Wes smiling. She was indeed happy to share this with him. However when he titled his head asking her about her fourth reason she felt a bit embarrassed as she didn't expect him to be that curious about it. She put on a pout as she looked away as if it were nothing.

"Well... It's just a moment I want to remember." she paused thinking that Wes would probably want to know more so she just looked at him as she shrugged her shoulder.

"I climbed a tree." she only said.
"So no don't worry I'm not going to drown you there." she said before putting her hand on her chin as she was thinking.

Then she turned to Wes again her eyes sparkling of mischief as she titled her head.
"Although that's an idea. I could try it on." she simply smiled at him.

From Wes' point of view she might sound and look like a psychopath but well she was goofing around and having fun.

Rose carefully looked at Wes when she asked him what he really wanted to say. She was hoping if he were lying one of his features would change. He smiled while answering it was nothing but as Rose hoped his freckles moved upwards as they changed to look like bubbles. Rose frowned while he quickly mentioned she was too short to climb a tree.

"You're lying." she said seriously and suspiciously looking at him.
"It was not what you wanted to say." she told him not knowing why he was not telling her his real thoughts.
"Your metamorphmagus ability are failing you." she finally said.

Despite him lying and Rose knowing it he still sincerely smiled and playfully nudged her shoulder drawing a little smile from her as they kept walking the lake in sight.

Rose smiled at the view.

"We are arriving." she started running to the lake hoping Wes would follow her.

The walk was enjoyable for Wes, too. The conversation and it all felt natural for him with her. The boy had both hands in his pockets, which was common for him, and he almost slipped on a small patch of wet ground that was just a tad bit slippery. "Bloody hell..." He murmured and then pulled his hands out of his pockets.

Despite that near miss with a bit of ice, Wes nodded in answer to her question of whether he knew how to ice skate or not. "Yeah, I do, but I didn't bring my skates to Hogwarts. Do you know how?"

When he saw that Rose had felt a bit embarrassed at his question on what kind of special moment she had here, Wes decided initially not to press it further. Without thought, he slipped his hands back into his pockets before chuckling at what she said next.

"A tree, really? Climbing makes it special, then, huh?" He looked to where they were going, "Maybe it's the same tree?"

The Gryffindor then stopped and looked at her, his eyes narrowing before a thin smile appeared on his lips. An idea about drowning, possibly him, caused him to huff out a laugh from his nostrils. "You know, you might actually be crazy, Rose." The words were teasing and meant playfully, but everyone probably does have a little crazy in them.

Then he frowned. It made Wes feel a tightening in his belly. Not that she called him a liar, but that he had lied to her. The boy had never been adept at hiding emotions like that. Not that he was not a good liar, he was in other situations. With hands still in his pockets and his skin noticeably lightening, Wes shrugged sheepishly and said, "I'll tell you later." He meant it, so it was not a lie; it just depended on how long later it would be.

When Rose smiled at the view, Wes did too. He was about to say something inconsequently goofy before the redheaded girl took off running. "Hey, not fair!" Wes yelled in laughter as he chased behind her, hoping his longer legs would carry him to catch her quickly.

Rose glanced at Wes who almost fell on the ground from slipping. She refrained herself from laughing when he quickly got his hands out of his pockets.

"Not that I wouldn't want but if you could avoid us another trip to the hospital wing." she said teasingly remembering their first encounter which was really unexpected yet ended up to a nice friendship.

"Plus we are almost arrived so I would take it as you finding a way not to get there." she kept up looking at him her eyes full of mischief as a small smile appeared on her lips.

When Rose heard Wes saying he knew how to ice skating she widely smiled at him while starting to jump around. She grabbed his arm all excited.

"Really?" although he said he didn't have any ice skating with him at Hogwarts her knowing he knew how to was enough. Ice skates could still be bought later or brought or sent by his parents.
"I do too! Why would I have asked you otherwise?" she told him on a teasing tone. "Then next time let's ice skate together! That would be fun!!" Rose was all excited about the idea.

But she quickly stopped laughing when Wes made a bit fun of her for having climbing a tree as being her special moment. She pouted again crossing her arms over her chest while looking at him raising her eyebrow.

"Well since you're making fun of me I won't tell you more!"
"It's a secret. I won't tell you where exactly nor which tree." she smiled mischievously.

Rose started to laugh again when Wes mentioned her being perhaps actually crazy. She laughed harder. Probably she was but she was enjoying making this kind of jokes with him especially.

"Don't worry I won't get too crazy." she added laughing.

As their discussion was going on and she got a bit annoyed and frustrated Wes didn't tell her what was really on his mind she noticed he didn't really appreciate her calling him a liar. She could understand it. Actually no one would like being called a liar especially by their friends but being lied to was the same. It was as if the person was not trusting you enough to tell you what was on their mind. Of course he may have his reasons and could have told her he would say later especially when she asked him and gave him the chance to tell her.

Nevertheless Wes told Rose he would tell her later. She was keeping that in the corner of her mind in case he forgot and she was hoping later wouldn't be in a year or more.

When they arrived and Rose started running without any warning to Wes she heard him yelling it wasn't fair as she started laughing again. Wes was much taller than her so he would catch her up in no time although Rose was running quite fast for her size. Yet she was careful not to trip or slip. Rose wanted to arrive first.

Wes was laughing by the time he caught up to her and when he did his boots slid slightly on the slick ground near the lake. “You’re faster than I thought…” He managed to call out between breaths. Though he was smirking at her when longer stride finally made it where he was able to reach out and lightly hook his hand around her sleeve.

“If we’re going to race… you can’t cheat.” Wes said laughing with a breath and straightened before he looked out at the Lake. “Oops, sorry,” he replied releasing his hand from her wrist with a small laugh. “You know, just making sure you didn’t run for it again or anything.”

For a moment he just looked at it and felt the sharper air brush against his face.“It’s different out here. Doesn’t feel like the Castle is breathing down my neck. No people in portraits staring at me either.” Wes laughed and turned back to her. It was a stark contrast, the Castle and the Grounds near the Lake. A natural quiet that was paired nicely with the sound of nature.

“I mean we could skate next time, but not sure how I could get my skates here.”Wes shrugged and he started to look at the trees. “So… which one is your favorite then?” He asked again, despite how she told him it was a secret.
