Emma liked to see the attempts of scary stories performed by the students of Hogwarts. Even if they weren't scary to her, she still liked to see the worried expressions on the faces of first years, perhaps even a few second years. All she could do was usher a small nod, hugging her own body for heat. It was too cold to be away from the fire, at least, in her clothing.

Tempted to walk back to her dormitory, she looked up into the castle and wondered if she could. At least, her mind had changed when she spotted Amanda. If she could have perked up without a chill traveling throughout her body, she would have, but for now, she just smiled. At least one of her friends had signed up for the sleepover. "Brillant," she said as Amanda asked her. Of course, she had to say it was amazing, after all, she was her friend. She didn't care how bad it was (though it wasn't at all), but she could have never lied to Amanda.

She overheard a voice, one that she had never heard in her life. Overheard was an understatement, it was more like the girl had said it deliberately even if she hadn't been talking to her or Amanda. She listened to her statement, and normally she would have agreed. Except for this time, she was actually on her side. She had started to be kind, but she could only exchange the favor. She owed her. Most of the stories were alright, but none to have her scream. Yes, they had her on the verge of her seat, but that was because she needed to get close to the fire.

"It was just an opinion, there's nothing to get rallied up over." She told the two of them, trying to reduce the conflict before it could get started. She didn't want either of them to be taken back to the castle, it was just fewer people to tell their stories. Looking down at the gigantic swarm of marshmallows, she spoke. "Can't we just enjoy the sleepover without any confrontations?" She looked at Aurelia before the other Ravenclaw.

Turning her head to Amanda, she gave her a look and a small smirk. A look that said 'you're the prefect, do something', after all, that's what friends were for. She had only been appointed since a few days ago, but still, she was going to bring the pressure.

Marissa had heard there was a sleepover. Maybe this would help her; the sleep, the socialisation and fresh air. So Mari decided to go, even though every trip she went on ended up with flames or some sort of disaster. It must have been some sort of bad luck with either her or just the school itself. Marissa felt as if it was her, seeing everything that has happened in the past year.

Walking down the path, she saw a distance glow as they went into the dark forest. Obviously it gave her chills, the last sleepover she went to ended up in flames and many Hufflepuffs in the hospital wing. The small area was surrounded by black tents, so obviously they were staying the night. Sleepover. Right.

Everyone started to gather around the campfire but Marissa hesitated, keeping a strong grip on her backpack. Was she ready for this? Mari had not seen James since she had gotten back to Hogwarts, which worried her a lot. Had she annoyed him? Was he avoiding her? Dread went through her head as she sat down a fire, slightly away from the others. Nothing was wrong with them, Mari was just in her own mind and was not keen on talking to anyone.

Amanda grinned at the other girls’ compliments. “Thank you, thank you. My dad told me that story last summer, actually. Plus, I like to read horror stories so I’ve got a ton of stuff stored up here.” She tapped her temple. “I’m going to try to think of another good one to share.”

Her thought process was interrupted when a small Ravenclaw girl walked up to them and said something somewhat rude to Aurelia. “Hey, whoa. Let’s be nice here.” She looked back and forth between Aurelia and the short girl. “I agree with Emma. Let’s keep this peaceful. I’m a Prefect, you know. I’ve got the power.” Amanda grinned and wiggled her fingers in a voodoo-like fashion. “In all seriousness, though, if you’ve got beef with Aurelia, take it up with her somewhere private. And Aurelia, let’s not retaliate. I don’t want to have to give anybody detention, especially not when we could be having fun. Okay?”

Amanda turned her attention back to thinking of a story. “Alright, should I tell the story of Bloody Mary? I don’t want to scare any of the younger kids too badly. Personally, I think the scarier the story is, the better. Bloody Mary isn’t that frightening, though... right?”

“Oh, I may be on the side of the angels, but don't think for one second that I am one of them.”

Ultimately confused, Bloom wondered if they were joking or not. Was it only her who heard the Gryffindor call out how terrible the first years were? If anything, what Bloom said was not as bad and even so, she did a service for the others. The fact that the Gryffindor, who was mentioned as Aurelia, pretended that it wasn't her was beyond what Bloom can comprehend. It was out-right lying.

Bloom could feel a sense of heat running through her body. She was angry. But naturally, she would never be this angry. She typically had a lot of patience, but perhaps the amount of events that were happening to her from the summer and recently were running wild in her mind. Her parents adopting another child-- one that would keep their attention away from her for longer. And then with Ben Eckenrode, her ex-boyfriend. They were partners for the baking, and she tried to show him that she made a mistake for dumping him and wanted to be with him, but he turned her down. Bloom was enraged.

She got up from her spot and looked at the two Ravenclaw's who didn't even back her up-- one who was a first year Prefect and the other who was a second year. Bloom took a deep breath and tried to swallow the words that wanted to come out, but she couldn't. "You're absolutely right. It is an opinion, but one that was uncalled for," she started, looking at Emma who tried to shrug Aurelia's perspective. "By the way, being a Prefect doesn't mean having power. It's how you use the power, and as someone such as myself who has been a Prefect, you're barking up the wrong tree," she added, her anger rising higher and higher. Perhaps she could have said it all differently, but she could not control herself. Her emotions were flying. This was not her at all and come to think of it, no one in her sleepover group she knew, so there was going to be no one to stand up for her now that she was letting her anger rage on.

Where is this coming from? she asked herself, not understanding that it was anger that was coming from a metaphorical bottle in her soul that was finally exploding. Why can't I stop it? she asked herself.

Aurelia pursed her lips tightly in to thin line like how she always did when unamused. Even though both the Ravenclaws were acknowledging that Bloom was the one egging her, cruet clearly thought Aurelia was at fault too. That made a bit of annoyance bubble inside her. She wasn’t at fault, at all, she only indirectly told Bloom to back off in an undeniably rather mature way. Of course, she sat without saying a word, utterly collected like how her Mother told her to be in such confrontations.

But she got to give both the Ravenclaws that they were somewhat backing her up, asking for the night to be uninterrupted. Aurelia wanted to have a fun night which Bloom didn’t want to let them have. What a brat, she had to just make everyone’s mode bad just because her’s was.

Amanda saying she had power over them from being a prefect, made her lip lift slightly in disgust. Besides, detention for a verbal conflict, that’s not possible. If Amanda were to give both of them detention for a verbal conflict, that would an abuse of the authority she has.

It’s perfectly comfortable here. Why would I take all the trouble... beefing... it up with Bloom somewhere else when I have nothing against her? I wish for a peaceful night as well. ” She asked in a casual tone. Though she didn’t get what beef meant. Beef just meant cows meat, perhaps it meant something else in the American way. It probably meant to fight it out. Even though Aurelia had the strength to knock the tiny Ravenclaw out with just a single punch, she had been taught better, fighting was just a barbaric as well as the improper way to settle things.

Yes, you were a prefect. Past tense, were. Amanda knows what she’s doing, it’s what she’s supposed to do. Now, I really wonder why you lost the prefect position in the first place.” Aurelia said, intentionally adding more oil to the fire that started inside the Ravenclaw. Aurelia highly suspected that Bloom was on her period which explained her mood. However, it was quite entertaining to see what the girl would do.

Sitting by the fire, Arthur was enjoying listening to the stories told by other students. He'd heard the Headless Horseman story before, of course. But it was a classic at camp outs like this. Just like it was inevitable that someone would eventually tell 'Bloody Mary' or a story about a creepy doll. He didn't really get the rhyming one, but at least it was original. Despite the Ravenclaw's bravado, the next story was not scary at all, probably the least of the three.

Shaking his head, he leaned forward. "Alright, if you don't like ghost stories, you should probably stop listening now..." he warned them, before launching into his story.
I was at my friend's house for a party one time. He lived in a converted barn, with a tall entryway and a second storey mezzanine built into the back. I'd gone down to get something to drink when I saw my friend's little sister on the stairs. She was making funny faces and laughing loudly to herself. Curious, I asked her what she was doing. "I'm copying the girl!" she said.

"What girl?" I asked.
"The girl with the braid," she said, and pointed behind me. I turned around and saw she was pointing up to the rafters that were left from the original building. Thinking she was just playing with an imaginary friend, I nodded and started going back down the stairs when she added; "She's hanging on her braid from the ceiling. Her braid is wrapped around her neck."
When I looked back, she was no longer paying attention and had gone back to making faces. It was then that I realized.. The faces she was making were of someone who was choking.
In fact, it was his friend who'd first told him that story. And it was his cousin's daughter (his second cousin? Or was it his first cousin once removed, he could never remember..) who had supposedly seen the ghost girl. But 'my friends cousin's daughter' didn't have quite the same ring to it. Whether the story was true, his friend had made it up, or he'd heard it from someone else and embellished it himself, Arthur didn't know. But that's how scary stories went; passed around camp fires from one group to another, until they became as common as Bloody Mary or Annabelle.

Amadea was running late. Again. As usual. She really needed to break this habit. During her first year she had done so well getting places on time, but now she felt as though she was just constantly behind on everything. It wasn't a fun feeling and Amadea didn't want to think about it. She was so behind she was even considering dropping some of her extracurricular activities, which was something she really didn't want to do. But she knew that if she couldn't dedicate herself completely to everything she was doing, it wasn't fair to herself. She needed to make sure she could do everything fully instead of doing some things but not fully.

Amadea headed down to the grounds, taking in all of the sights around her. There was a beautiful sunset that spread throughout the whole sky. Vibrant oranges lit up the ground, leading Amadea toward the Forbidden Forest where the sleepover was taking place. Amadea stayed at the back of the group as they walked away from the castle, letting herself simply think.

Amadea had only been in the Forbidden Forest once before, during the summer for an Herbology workshop. That had been an interesting experience, but not necessarily scary. Hopefully the same would go for this sleepover. Though considering it was at night, Amadea figured it would be a lot more terrifying.

A lot of students were sitting around the fire, telling scary stories. Amadea shivered, not wanting to participate in that. Her imagination could come up with enough of terrifying thoughts, thank you very much. She scanned the crowd, looking for familiar faces, but she was unable to find any. Finally, her eyes landed on a familiar figure. It was Bloom, the Ravenclaw Amadea had chatted with during the butterbeer tasting. While Amadea wasn't close friends with Bloom, she had nothing against the girl, so Amadea began walking over to where Bloom was sitting with a few other students who were listening to the scary stories.

However, as Amadea approached, she noticed that there seemed to be some tensions between Bloom and some other students. Amadea recognized one as Aurelia Bezuidenhout, the girl who had been cursed and Amadea had brought to the hospital wing. Knitting her brows together, Amadea was unsure of what to do. Should she walk over or leave everything alone? As a prefect, Amadea felt as though she needed to do something. Clearly, something was going on and it didn't look like it was good.

Amadea took a deep breath, plastered on a cheery smile and walked over to the girls. "Hi!" she said cheerily. "It's nice to see you again, Bloom. How are you?" Turning to Aurelia, Amadea said, "Hi Aurelia. How are you doing?" Lastly, Amadea smiled at the other girls she didn't recognize. "I don't think we've met before," she said to them. "I'm Amadea Campbell. Nice to meet you both!"

As soon as Aurelia spoke those words, someone whom Aurelia was familiar with approached them. Amadea was a nice girl, Aurelia would give her that. She after all had helped her up to the hospital wing the year before. However, the red head was another prefect who had obviously sensed a bit of a dispute and just had to walk over. Aurelia couldn’t help but make a small eye roll, the fun was just about to start and Amadea had to ruin it. Of course, that was what prefects were supposed to do, prevent conflicts and what more but sometimes getting in a bit of conflicts were entertaining.

Amadea, unlike Bloom, had some decency for pleasantries. Amadea, was clearly acquainted with Bloom since she knew her name and had said it was ‘nice’ to see her again. She had also asked Aurelia herself how she was doing. On what Aurelia was taught, these kinds of ‘hello, how are you’ or ‘hi, what’s your name’ was the down right basic pick up phrases for socialising. Aurelia would usually skip all the trouble and start to converse immediately. But Amadea was a muggle-born, she didn’t attend expensive parties and most likely didn’t have as many opportunities to socialise as how Aurelia did.

I’m doing great, Bloom was just telling Amanda, Emma and I about how she lost her prefect position,” Aurelia said purposefully knowing that wasn’t what was happening and gave Amadea an obviously faked smile.

You should really grab one of the marshmallows when you can, they’re disappearing really quickly.” Aurelia added on, hoping that Amadea would get the signal to go away. The last thing she needed was some nosy Hufflepuff inform a professor about it.

Arthur glanced over to the side where a small group of people were starting to gather. The girls who were trash talking and dissing people before were off whispering in a corner. Big surprise there. He'd overheard what Aurelia had said about the first two story tellers. He wasnt sure everyone heard it, but taking behind someone's back didn't exactly make it much better. Amanda, meanwhile, had been rude straight to people's faces. And though Devina and Elena hasn't said anything about it yet, it was a poor way for a perfect to act. Both Aurelia and Amanda had been extremely rude, in his opinion. He couldn't stand people who acted so pretentious and self important, while seeming to lack any kind of self awareness. He knew Aurelia, and would even consider her something approaching a friend, but that didn't mean he wasn't sometimes frustrated by her behavior.

Still, he'd been content to move on and let it go, maybe encourage Elena and Devina that they were just being pricks if either were upset, and focus on keeping people's spirits up. That is, until he noticed Bloom in with the rest of the group. He could tell from her posture that she was challenging the other two. That is to say, standing up for the rest of them. He didn't know her well, but he could tell from the few times he'd meet her she was that kind of person.

His conscience invaded like an itch beneath his skin. He couldn't ignore it, knowing someone else was doing the right thing, while he was sitting by. He stood up, following the older Hufflepuff over to the group. Probably she would be better at diffusing the situation than he would, but he still couldn't just do nothing.

The situation seemed to be heating up, and the last thing he wanted to do was put fuel on the fire. Instead, he put on a bright smile as he called over, apparently oblivious. "Hey, Bloom! How about a S'mores baking challenge rematch? Check it out; Accio Marshmallow!" he tried, not sure if it would succeed or fail. His smile ebbed away as he looked at the other two (Emma, meanwhile, seemed to have been caught in the middle). He really hated confrontation, but he knew he ought to say something. "You know, you two should apologize to Elena and Devina. It takes a lot of courage to talk in front of everyone. Putting other people down doesn't make you seem better."

Emma couldn't understand why she was the one being shouted at by someone who was just as old as her, if not maybe even a few months older. She mentally shrugged the thought off. After all, it was sort of like what Aurelia and herself did from time to time, it never got old. She had kind of gotten herself use to being spoken to in a rude manner. It happened every month if not, bi-weekly, her interactions with Aurelia seemed like a schedule.

Before things could get heated, another prefect stepped in, except this one seemed oblivious to her surroundings. She couldn't blame her, she wanted to meet new friends too, but something told her it wasn't a good time. Watching as the cheery Hufflepuff prefect waved from the Ravenclaw, Bloom, to Aurelia and then down to herself and Amanda.

"Emma," she said introducing herself saving her last name for later. It was unlike her to be formal, so it was best not to say her last name. The prefect was going to figure it out later on anyway. "Nice to meet you, did you come because you wanted to? Or to supervise the event?" She asked jokingly as she lifted her hand to produce a small wave to Amadea, wearing a slight smile on her face as a shiver ran down her spine. It was still cold, and she wasn't going to forget.

Looking at Aurelia with a signaling look, silently trying to warn her not to say anything she may have regretted. Judging from Amadea's kind words to her, they were already on good terms, but of course, the Gryffindor hadn't even bothered to look in her direction before speaking. Half of her wanted the prefect to stay, though the other wanted drama. At least she wasn't involved today, and at least it didn't include both her and the Gryffindor. The last thing was wanted to see was a fist through, it would be almost like a direct repeat of what happened in the Library last year. She didn't want to see blood, nor did she enjoy the sight of it.

That's when another Hufflepuff had shown up. Oh, she couldn't imagine what thoughts were swarming inside of Bloom's head. She couldn't have acted out in front of the majority of the group, that was merely foolish. She waved slightly to Arthur, thankfully, he hadn't been over for a while but he was already trying to resolve the argument going on between Bloom and Aurelia.

"S'mores sound delectable. Would you two like to try, we can practice spells," she said in an octave higher, trying to convince Amanda and Aurelia. It wouldn't be hard convincing Amanda, at least she thought, but Aurelia had different ideas. She already knew.
