Speech -- Thoughts
Pam, in her excitement, had actually showed up decently early. Or at least, she assumed she was early, unless people were uninterested in fireworks. The thought made her blink. How could people be uninterested in fireworks? Pam simply couldn't relate.
The stadium, was of course, beautiful as always. Glow bug drifted lazily through the air, painting the wide space in a gentle light, glowing like living fairy lights across the pitch. Pam glanced up to spot the different school banners; the Hogwarts crest on one of the banners sending a surge of warmth and happiness through her.
Above it all, the night sky stretched ahead, endless and eternal. They were clear that night, stars scattered across the black canvas, reminding Pam of the time she had spent up in the Astronomy Tower, looking at the starry sky.
Peaceful. That was the word Pam would use to describe the atmosphere. The air hummed with quiet anticipation, the kind of stillness that came before the start of something truly marvelous. The fireworks display had not begun yet, and Pam walked over to one of the seats, a little away from the thickest cluster of people and settled down.
She placed her head against her hand, a soft smile playing on her lips. It did not matter that she was alone on her bench, away from the soft chatter of the crowd. The air around her was comfortable, familiar in a way that almost felt like home.
It was perfect.

Lilith assessed the boy for a moment, eyes narrowed. He had explained why he wanted to photograph her simply, almost like it was an evidence. Aesthetically, he found her interesting, and he wanted to take a picture. Saying Lilith wasn't flattered would be a lie, but she pushed down that feeling. Nonetheless, he was intriguing. Even if she acted like that wasn't the case, the interest that he seemed to have for her was shared. She was still trying to understand what it was that she found striking about him.Private interaction with @ Harvey Barrows
Besides, he had came up to her without any shyness, and Lilith always thought confidence was appealing. Someone that wasn't afraid of saying what they wanted always got her attention. But she didn't have the time to reflect on this. He was waiting, insistent, his camera half-raised, like he was ready to take a picture the second she'll agree. Lilith didn't need to think about it. He was interesting, she was bored, and the night was just starting.
"May I ?" He said.
Lilith smiled. The smile of a girl who's sure of her beauty. Straightening up, she rearranged her dark curls in a gesture of calculated vanity. Her eyes still in his, her tone confident, she answered:
"You may."

Date Word Count Speech 31/08/2025 347 #578645If one were to try and describe how Ewan MacLeod was feeling, the word “excited” would come to mind. A bright smile was plastered on his face as he took his time observing the stadium, which had been appropriately decked out for the occasion: there were tall stands, a music stage, picnic blankets all around, and most importantly food booths.
This night was the first time Ewan could experience the summer camp: he had tried to convince his parents to let him attend in full, but in the end he had had to go visit relatives for most of August. Which made this the only viable time to partake in the festivities, too.
Therefore, Ewan planned to make the most of what little time he had left: after having entered the stadium, he made a beeline for the food stands. A few minutes later, the young boy was struggling trying to balance an ice cream cone, which appeared to change colours, as well as a glass of fizzing pumpkin soda and a serving of cauldron cake. Just in time, it seemed, for the organisers to hold a few speeches (and an award ceremony, too).
He had started making his way to the clearing where picnic blankets had been laid, when suddenly fireworks shot up and illuminated the stadium: first a phoenix, with fiery hot wings, then a hippogriff, nifflers, elegant unicorns, and lastly dragons.
Ewan had been so caught up in observing the grand spectacle that was happening above his head, that he didn’t notice he had started walking on an already occupied blanket. The realisation came only because he had bumped into the boy who was already sitting there.
“Aye, sorry ‘bout that!”, he quickly said, “I got lost in me own head there, hope I didn’t startle ye.”, he quickly added with an apologetic smile.
Seeing as Ewan hadn’t found a place to sit yet, and noticing that the boy with dark hair seemed to be sitting alone, the young MacLeod asked “Do ye mind if I sit here, too? I’m Ewan, by the way.”

Nick would be lying if he said he didn't get startled, and honestly, it was impossible for him to lie about it since he squeaked like a fallen kitten when he was bumped into and immediately started coughing when the countless pastries he had just shoved into his mouth all decided to go down his throat at ounce.
He coughed a few times into his hand before looking up at the boy who had just caused all of it, he thought that perhaps, after a whole week of learning how to interact with others his age he would have gotten the hang of it by now.
"Hi!" He yelled through the fireworks, and scoot a bit to the side when the boy asked for a seat. "Yeah! I, I guess that's alright!" then he waited for the boy to sit himself before he grabbed another piece of cake.
"Hmm..." He thought about it for a second, as if the delicious food plus the loud almost overwhelming fireworks above his head were all a bit too much for his brain to function, and remembering his own name took him that much time. "Hm- Nick Lazarus! Just Nick!" He said loudly before he gingerly offered a piece of the cake he had been gobbling. "Cake?"

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Prat had acquired the kind of stride that announced itself long before words ever did. Calm, deliberate, full of surety and unhurried nonchalance. His pockets were tucked, shoulders straight, posture never slouched, the gait of one completely self assured. While he had no need for cheap tokens from camp carnival, yet from his arms dangled a prize: a teddy bear with the ability to come hug whoever held it or was close to it. It was surely something of the sort, he couldn't bother to find the exact function.
He had won it with ease, not really for the reasons one might believe. He'd bought it as a gift for Siobhan and her odd, fragile self who seemed to always be down or on the edge these days. It wasn't in his taste to keep a stuffed creature, but he thought it'd suit her, and so, on a whim he had claimed it as his prize.
He spotted her waiting, sweater sleeves tugged, fingers weaving through her hair, clearly lost in her own thoughts. He didn't allow himself the indulgence of lingering and staring at her, Prat wasn't the sort to make someone wait when he had set the time of their meeting himself.
"I'm here," he said simply, his tone smooth and deliberate, carrying no trace of apology in his words. A faint incline of his head followed, acknowledgement without excess. He extended the bear towards her, eyes flicking from her hands to her expression, gauging the moment with that same calculating ease he carried into duels or well, quidditch games now. "Thank you for waiting up for me."
The words were clipped, but sincere in his own way. "Shall we?" he asked with the amused curl of smile as he waited for her to eventually accept the bear from his hands
As they walked towards the stadium, Prat kept his gaze forward, though a thought lingered at the back of his mind. Fireworks. A spectacle of color and light. But what were they gonna do when he was hanging around with someone who might not even see them clearly? He remembered fragments of her difficulty, the slight haze in her eyes, though he was unaware of the full extent it troubled her. He wouldn't ask, that'd be crude, invasive and he had no interest in ruining the night with providing her a pity party she did not ask for.
Instead, he matched her pace, hands folded behind his back, bearing the silence as comfortably as he bore her presence.
For Prat, the fireworks were secondary. He was here because he had given his word.

"Thanks. It's nice to meet you, just Nick!"
Ewan replied, an amused smile tugging at the corners of his mouth: he certainly hadn't expected Nicholas to squeak like a surprised mouse, but he couldn't exactly blame him, especially not after bumping into him so suddenly all whilst grand fireworks were shooting skywards and erupting into a resounding show of multicolored lights.
The young MacLeod plopped down on the blanket unceremoniously after being given the go ahead from his newfound companion, ever careful not to drop his hard-earned bounty of sweets that had been acquired after standing in queue for what seemed like an eternity (it had probably only been 15 minutes, 20 at maximum). Once he had settled in, he turned his attention back to Nicholas.
"I appreciate yer offer, but I'm pretty good on chocolate myself", replied Ewan, motioning to his own serving of cauldron cake, before licking a bit of ice cream from his cone. The red-haired boy's expression quickly turned to one almost akin to an epiphany, as if complete spiritual enlightenment were in reach: that was how good the ice cream tasted.
Just then, Ewan began to think about his blanket-mate's surname. Ice cream tended to have the opposite effect of a brainfreeze on Ewan than it did most people: the coolness of it usually led him to daydreaming. Or perhaps it was the deliciousness of it. Anyways... Lazarus. The young boy could vaguely recall something about a miracle, and being brought back to life. What an uncommon name, he couldn't help thinking. Pretty cool.
Ewan shook his head slightly, catching himself just in time to avoid going on a tangent inside his head, and possibly freaking Nick out even further by blankly staring at something over his shoulders with his head slightly tilted: it was a somewhat common occurrence for Ewan, however he knew that not everyone reacted positively to it. So, the young boy decided he'd ask a question, to keep the conversation alive.
"So, Nick... Will ye attend Hogwarts in September?"
It was an important question to ask: after all, summer camp had been advertised as the occasion to form new friendships with prospective or already attending students from all over the wizarding world. Ewan could only hope that Nick would attend his same school. The latter had a friendly-looking face, and the young MacLeod usually could sense if he'd get along well with people.

────────────────────────────────Prat's voice broke her out of her trance as she moved her head in the direction of where it has resonated from. A fuzzy hazy movement with a thick clump of... something was now within the minimal sight that she possesed. When her fingers grasped the item, a smile broke out on her face and she looked up just slightly to try and meet Prat's line of sight.
"You traded your tickets for me? That's so kind... Thank you." Siobhan spoke with a cheerful tie at the end of her words. The fuzzy teddy-bear was warm and upon finding it's place against her chest, she felt the warmth of a greatly needed hug swaddle itself against her. The smile across her face grew as she followed Prat's general movements into the Stadium in search of somewhere to sit. She hoped that he was looking for a place that would have an unobscured vision for him to view the phenomenon and not somewhere just to sit. While Siobhan might not be able to see them well, Prat could and the lack of view would most definitely bring down the mood between them if he forced himself to sit just to sit.
Siobhan shook her head just slightly. She knew that Prat had no qualms doing things for himself. The act of giving her the bear, and inviting her to the fireworks was out of character from him but it seemed everything he had been doing for her was out of charater lately. Perhaps though, it wasn't the out of character-ness and more so her misconceptions of him as a person. She sighed and reached for one of his arms so as to make sure she didn't lose him in the crowd.
The only problem with him at the moment was how ordinary he looked within the obscurity of her vision. Her fingers curled around his arm as she managed to match her pace to his.
"You walk too fast for your blind companion." She justified as she let go. "Didn't your parents teach you not to walk off in front of your friend?" She chided him gently as they continued moving towards wherever it was they were going to sit. The bear in her arms gave her another hug which only made her smile again. This was what she had been trying to achieve on her own with her own tickets but Prat had gone and traded all of his for her.
When they finally sat down, she stayed quiet for a bit. There wasn't much to say in the moment and she didn't want to make the outing depressing. She tended to do that and it wasn't fair of her to do so everytime they hung out together. A beat or so passed before Siobhan looked at him, still fumbling with her sweater sleeves.
"Do you like fireworks?" was all she asked, solely expecting a one word answer from him or even a noise of indiscriminate nature. She held her bear on her lap as it wrapped its stubby arms around her own arms as if to say "whee! my new best friend!"
"I think I'll name this bear... Beehive. Like a honey-bear!" She smiled with an overwhelmingly happy look on her face. "Really Prat, thank you for this. Can I give you some money to repau you? I'm afraid I don't have a lot right now but I can always get you next year.

Nick chuckled when he was called 'just nick', it was often he used that particular phrase to introduce himself and it was rather hilarious to see it backfire in that way back at him.
He lowered the plate he held when the boy refused the food, taking a couple of bites himself and looking back up at the fireworks when the lights seemed to dim ever so slightly. While beautiful, those fireworks were very bright, to a point he squinted a bit at every explosion.
That's when he heard the boy again, he turned his head to look at him and gave his best toothy smile at the question, one could say he was rather excited for the future.
"Yes!! I can't wait to go to Hogwarts!" Nick said so loudly that he could rival a firework himself, before his cheeks grew slightly pink from embarrassment. At least he could put the blame on the red lights of the fireworks for that change of color. "I mean..."
He cleaned his throat and looked at his food, easier to eat and pay attention to that than his own childish behavior."My parents were both students there, that's how they met! My father was a Ravenclaw and my mom was a Hufflepuff! I feel like they wanted me to be one of those two..." Not that he was sure of it, in fact, even now, when anyone mentioned one of the houses, he couldn't see himself as any of them. He didn't have the core characteristics that many would associate with the houses of Hogwarts.
"What about you?" He finally asked, looking back at the boy as he pulled his hair out of his own eyes. "Are you going to Hogwarts?"

Harvey kept his eyes locked with hers as she looked him over. This girl had struck a cord within him. It wasn’t just the fact that she was attractive. Yes, Harvey was drawn to people that way just like most, but it was more about the energy emanating from within that had his creative juices flowing. When the boy explained the simple reason for wanting to photograph her, he kept a very close eye on how she reacted. Would she blush? Would she look away or laugh it off? No. The girl kept her cool. Harvey had utilized flattery many times when he wanted to get his way. Most people turned to mush at the slightest compliment and that was a useful tool, but it did leave him thinking a little less of those people. Not her though. She stood with him toe to toe, eye to eye and his intrigue in her was soaring.
Harvey held up his camera, just a half movement away from snapping a photo. All he needed was a yes. When he asked for her approval she smiled in a way that that looked well practiced. The girl had her tools as well. Not that it appeared forced or faked, but simply done with ease and with expected results. Even someone with as stiff of a backbone as Harvey had to be careful not to be swept away by it. His own lips curled into a smile when she finally said yes.
The girl would rearrange her hair to make the curls somehow even more perfect than they looked before as Harvey raised the camera to his eye. Thankfully the scene still looked a dream as he lined up his shot. He waited for a firework to illuminate the sky behind her as he adjusted the angle of the camera ever so slightly. “Chin up, look to your left, but keep your eyes on me, please.” Harvey wasn’t sure how she would react to instructions, but he inwardly prayed that she wouldn’t mind. The shot was almost perfect.
If the girl was agreeable to his request, Harvey would again wait until he noticed another firework about to soar overhead. Just as it lit the sky he would click his camera in a hope that it would light her face in just the way he was hoping. If she did not take to his request, Harvey would take the photo anyway and hope for the best.
“Thank you. I think that will turn out lovely.” He lowered the camera. “I don’t recognize you from school. Are you starting your first year? So sorry, I was caught in the moment and forgot to introduce myself. Harvey Barrows.” The boy would extend his hand for a proper greeting.
