Damning every kind fiber she withheld in her body, Elena considered for the countless time letting him sprawled onto the floor, and taking a well earned leave. Though delightfully sweet, this plan had two downsides — one, she was a prefect, and as though being late on her first day would not suffice she would additionally get blamed for not assisting a person in... relative danger. Danger of driving people to such a point of insanity they would start lynching him, that is. Two, the kindness enraptured in her soul, taught by her parents and lived by every day of her life would find itself contradicted, even though one might argue simply considering abandoning this sewer, stracotto rat was in itself a betrayal of her ideals, but she would plead mitigating circumstances by letting the jury spend any thing above two minutes in the same room as this burnt blonde.
Hand clasped around his ankle as though he possessed a rare disease — fingers wrapped as far from his skin as possible, only touching two specific spots—, she led him through the dedale of corridors, caressing the idea of his head 'accidentally' meeting a wall. Gritting teeth, she let him whine continuously, gathering every last thread of self composure she possessed — threads that kept thinning at each syllable that left his mouth, and were now reduced to a thickness barely above a filament.
A brief moment of silence followed, a relief in this hellish torment.
It only lasted a few seconds though, and soon the living headache she was dragging along resumed its complaints. "You couldn't of thought of anything better than this?"
She came to a halt, pivoting on her feet before tugging at his ankle with a sharp, aggressive motion to make him float forward until his head arrived at her level. "I must have misheard, because I didn’t hear a single brilliant suggestion coming from you," she spat, "and you're already lucky I felt terrible about your chute enough to put up with your tantrums." The irritation she had been bottling up for the past minutes was now erupting, fueled by the punchable smile plastered on his face, that kept widening at each of her words. "You have been whining every damned second of the past, dismissing each of my attempts at making this easier for the both of us, kept complaining like an upset child, and frankly, I'm not even certain you are as injured as you claim so. It's my first day of class, and I'm already late, and-"
The rest of her sentence caught up in her throat. Tears started veiling down her vision, and she bit her lower lip before facing away from him, not wanting to give this mongrel another reason to mock her. Tight, razor sharp claws were digging at her stomach, compressing her lungs as the worry of ruining everything — arriving late, making a bad impression before her professors, losing her title of prefect, and even though she currently wouldn't mind throwing him through the window, having someone within the school disliking her this much — filled up her chest like water. Pushing down the feeling, she sucked in a couple of breaths and cleared her throat, noticing with relief they were arrived to the oh-so-awaited destination.
"We're here," she said, tone flat, looking straight ahead of her.
