Dylan couldn't believe what she had said. They really were similar. Even more similar than he had first realized. "Wow. Honestly? I feel the same. Something about you brought me out of my shell and makes me feel like I belong. I don't really know anyone from America, but you were the first person from here to actually speak to me without judgement, and that was. . . everything." Dylan managed to get out. The last part was hard. Harder to admit out loud than to keep it to himself.

Dylan continued to place bits of marshmallow cake in his mouth. The rich fluffiness of the cake and the sweet taste of the marshmallows filled him to the brim. A happy sigh escaped his lips as he reminisced in the beauty of marshmallows and the amazing creations that could be made with them. Dylan made a note to discover everything there was to know about the delicious treat. Every recipe down to how to make marshmallows. They were too crucial to the happiness of many more people than himself to pass by.

"I'll keep that in mind and make sure that my mom doesn't stop until she gets the perfect consistency just like this! And don't worry. I'll make sure she makes enough for the two of us to share." He grinned. Glad that he had someone to share his passion with that didn't think he was crazy, but embraced it.

She laughed. Every time they talked, she realized that where more alike and every time they talk, she seemed to laugh. How ironic. "Yeah, everyone else judged me too. No matter how much I tried to fit in, it was my accent that never went away that everyone judge me for." She rolled her blue eyes to emphasize how she felt about that, "You're the best friend I could ever wish for. In America, in England, at Ilvermorny or anywhere, you made me feel as if I matter someplace outside of my home."

She watched as Dylan took a bite of the cake and he sighed. It made Summer feel good to finally be able to share her favorite cake in the whole world and have some one love it as much as she does. She took a bite of just the thick, gooey, soft marshmallow filling on top. It melted in her mouth, its smoothness soaking into Summer's tongue.

"Great! And, even if it's not perfect or the best the first time, it will still taste like heaven! Trust! I can't wait to try your attempt." Summer says, with a smile on her face. And it was true, she was sure Dylan or his mom could master the recipe and it would come out amazing. She had never seen Dylan's mom or witnessed her cooking but if Dylan said she usd to bake before they moved, Summer, was sure that it would be delicious.

Dylan had no words. She had just said he was the best friend she could have ever had anywhere. That sentence alone stopped him in his tracts. "I-I- I'm honored. I feel the same way." Dylan managed to stutter out. Still shocked that he meant that to someone other than his cousin, Avery.

He had never really had a close or even best friend outside of family. He had always been the loner of the group. The one who kept to himself and tried in every way to stay away from the action. Then he met Summer. The one person who had changed him for the better and helped shape him into he now was. If he had never met her, well, he didn't know what he would have done or been like.

"I can't wait to try it as well. If it's even half as good as this, I'll be happy. Though anything with marshmallows and I'm usually happy." He laughed a little. The comment was true. Marshmallows had really changed how he thought about food. He knew everyone had a favorite food, and this was just proving it even more.

"I don't think I've ever said this, but thank you for being such an amazing friend. I know I'm probably not easy to deal with or be around, but I'm glad that I know you." He shocked himself with what he was saying. He didn't even know where the courage had come from for him to say those words.

Summer smiled, he agreed with her! She finally had a friend, someone she could finally count on. Summer, for some reason, was really excited she finally had someone who felt the same way with a friend, "Really, you do? Thank you, you're the best friend ever. You finally got me to talk to people my age." She laughed

Before Summer had met Dylan, she had been the quiet kid in the corner, scared to speak. Her parents had put her in a bunch of things to help get her to talk, organized play-dates when she was a kid for her to meet new people, special groups, but she refused to talk. Dylan though, something about him made her talk.

Speaking of talking, Dylan's words brought her out of her train of thought. "You know, to risk the marshmallows not being toasty or overcooking the cake, you can cook the cake, then put the marshmallows on top and then toast it. With a blowtorch, you know? Then you can get it just how you like them."

Summer laughed, "Oh please, I might not know that many people, but you are very nice, and easy to hang out with, don't worry. Remember, I was the one who crashed into you when we first met. If anyone should apologize for being hard to deal with, it should be me." Summer said, with a smile on her face.

Dylan laughed alongside her. Though he didn't voice it aloud, he agreed. Before he had met Summer, Dylan had been alone. He had stayed away from other people and did his best to avoid anyone and everyone. Then he met Summer and everything changed. For the first time in a long time it felt like he could breathe. Like he was going to be okay and that he didn't have to hide anymore. He felt free.

"A. . . blowtorch? Never heard of it, but I'll keep that in mind!" Dylan grinned. He already imagined the conversation he was to have with his mother later. It would probably be a long conversation of begging her to make the cake and send it to school with him. If it went well, he would share it with Summer like she had shared it with him.

Dylan's smile faded slightly. How could Summer not realize how easy she was to be around? Did she look past his own faults and mistakes and see who he was at his core even when he didn't see it himself? She was incredible. A friend that was worth dying for if it came down to it, and he would die for her if it meant saving her life.
