Second Bloom
Out of the corner of her eye, Amelia spotted Ruth doing something, like sawtting a fly away. By the time Amelia turned her head, though, Ruth was talking about something for some other time. Oh well. With a shrug, Amelia went back to her muffin.
She felt rather proud of Pam for making them so delicious and good looking. It felt like she could go around and boast to people, about it, as proud as she was; 'yes, that's my friend, I'm a friend of hers!'. Maybe she'd do that when Pam gets a bakery of her own.
Smiling at the thought, she went through her muffin slowly, relishing the flavour and the softness of it. With an enthusiastic smile, she nodded in agreement to Ruth's claim about the sweets. 'Fantasic' couldn't really cover it, but it was a good enough word to describe them.
'soon enough you'd even forget where you guys met'... Amelia rolled the phrase in her mind. It sounded... a bit out of place. Amelia couldn't really pin it down, but there was someting odd with Ruth's regard towards her. She decided to makr a mental note to get back to that. However, Amelia's mind wandered away quickly; her expression softened, a laugh almost escaping her as she spotted Pam's own expression. Teasing Pam was so funny sometimes!
Amelia's eyes flickered towards the ceiling, trying to think of answers to all the questions. Then, with a sigh and a cheeky smile following right after, "It's always a historical event when you're around," she winked, laughing. Those sweets were really getting to her... "They're really good, by the way," she added as an afterthought, deciding at last to ignore the awkwardness with Ruth for now.
Amelia raised an eyebrow at Pam's mention of dorm changes— did that mean the girls used to be roomates? Or just that Ruth often spent time in Pam's room? Whatever that statement meant, it made her feel a tiny spark of jealousy. A really, really tiny one, but it was there and it was nagging her, and she did not like it. Hmph. Amelia herself had a pretty great roommate, too!
Scrunching her nose while considering, Amelia answered Pam's question. "I dunno, I love our dorms," Amelia started. "And they're very chaotic... There are always parties or events, it's very... lively. What's it like at Hufflepuff?" Well, that was one way to start inquiring about the roomate situation...
