Instrument girl appeared to be at least polite enough to give her name, which could only be a good thing. Maybe this summer could be bearable if she wasn't as prickly as she dressed, although Sayaka's gut warned her not to rely on that. Wishful thinking had never been her domain anyway. Besides, it was unlikely that she would be confined only to this tent for the entirety of camp. She could always go for a walk if things got too loud and sarcastic. Blissful thoughts of a walk though, were interrupted by a barrage of absolute gibberish from the dark-haired presumably English girl. She kept a polite smile on her face as she communicated her complete and utter confusion through a shake of her head. There had to be a spell for this, and if it wasn't taught in the first year syllabus she was quite possibly going to refuse to ever attend any international event again. Not that she could, but the feeling was the important bit.
Thankfully, the next person to speak to her knew not only japanese, but english as well. She dipped her head, replying with a "I certainly hope so". It would most definitely make this whole camp a lot easier. She idly fixed her robes as the dark-haired girl and him began to converse in the said language, picking up the word Hogwarts from the conversation but not much else. Out of the corner of her eye, she picked up the other boy reaching for a book. A far more respectable way to avoid conversation than pulling out some sort of stringed instrument. She had to confess that she didn't quite know what it was. Not that she was curious. She wasn't big on music, although of course she had received instrument lessons in her youth. None of the ones she tried had ever quite stuck with her though, and if she was keen to hear terrible violin playing Minato was always more than willing to provide a impromptu concert.
She wondered how her younger cousins were doing without her. Life at the Ito household would be going on as normal, with Minato and Takashi most likely busy with tutoring and running about the halls. Her elder cousin however, was a mystery. Had they come out from hiding under the bed like a child? They had to by now. It would be unreasonable to remain there. Although it was unreasonable to pull all this in the first place. Either way, it wasn't her concern now. She would focus on camp as she had been instructed too, even as the corners of her mind seethed with quiet, suppressed anger.

The charming boy remained the singular fixture of comfort Livia found in the tent. Of all the inhabitants, he broke the mould by offering polite words and a much-appreciable will to converse—rather dissimilarly to the Maria across the tent. Livia's emerald gaze flitted towards the other girl, taking note of the instrument as she lent her ears to the tune emanating from it. She had never before glimpsed such a contraption; any instrumental training of hers had been regulated to pianos, string quartets and organs while in the UK, although her grandfather and uncle had introduced her to khromki, balalaiki and panduri. Her features softened as she observed the deftness and expertise with which the other girl played—if only she could have a similar talent. The less said about her lack of adequacy with the piano and panduri, the better.
That she could only properly communicate with Akihiko was a horrific injustice to the extroverted girl, but she would do her best to entertain herself with the cultural offerings of the tent, as well as the gentle sway of her hammock. She remained swinging when Akihiko mentioned how great Mahoutokoro was, and she nodded in response. 'That sounds lovely, really.' The English still tasted improper on the tongue—grating like sandpaper, and bitter, perhaps, like an over-steeped tea. 'And yes. I must admit, I am rather excited—in particular for the classes on Defence Against the Dark Arts, and, of course, Potions and Flying. They are all essential. I do find it a bit worthy of lament that we can't take electives until our third year—Divination and Study of Ancient Runes sound like such wonderful supplements to learning.'
She continued to swing without any understanding that her tangent might not have been well-received. With a tranquil expression on her face, she stared at Akihiko. 'You've been to a magical academy—what was the most impressive thing you've learnt?'
Yet another glance was cast towards Maria. Having finally understood the other girl's lack of desire to converse, Livia contented herself with appreciating her music. The experience was not unlike attending an opera. Perhaps, if Maria were feeling more personable later, Livia would be able to extend her utmost gratitude for the artistic song that she was playing. As it was, she simply watched, intrigued.

Out of the corner of his eye, he watched as his cousin settled into his hammock with a mind-numbing tome rather than engaging in the conversation. Typical.
He remained quiet, listening as Livia listed her excitements for her first year, the classes she planned to take and all the sorts. Every now and then when she said a class that intrigued him, he would nod a bit and let out a little ‘hmm’ of agreement. She seemed more relaxed the more she spoke, although she likely still felt out of place in the cabin. It was shocking that so many Mahoutokoro kids had wound up in the same place at all.
"Most impressive?" He thought aloud, trying to find a good answer to the question. "Perhaps…" he trailed off, mind flashing numerous answers but none that seemed right. He could say he had learned a lot about the world, at risk of sounding cheesy. Maybe the safe answer was the best one. "I’ve learned many great charms throughout the year. When we went home for the summer, I was finally able to give Botan a tiny taste of his own medicine."
Akihiko grinned, tilting his head toward his cousin, although the moody teen was most likely disengaged from the current conversation. He had no doubt that Botan would find a way to make the summer at least somewhat hellish.
The first year Mahoutokoro girl—Sayaka—had zoned out into her own thoughts. Although Akihiko had no idea what was occupying them, he decided to interrupt and draw her back into the conversation. 「ちょうど新学期について話していたところだけど、マホウトコロで楽しみにしていることは何?」 "We were just talking about the new school year. What are you looking forward to at Mahoutokoro?"
