Jules nodded to confirm his opinion on himself when she tilted her head, seeing her a bit confused about it. He always looked a bit fake, almost as if he was concentrating too much into reading a script, too careful not to slip to look confident for an external eye. He wasn’t mad about it, and leaving his twin to deal with those kind of things had always been the best practice to follow.

“Terrible?” he repeated after her, trying to figure out what difficulties she might have had, as she looked confident enough to have everything under control, somehow. “How so?” he asked again, laughing quietly at the plan she had in mind to make good use of her abilities with public speaking and his empathy. “Seems like a good idea!” he agreed, and in a mixed tone - half joking, half seriously curious – he asked “So, you plan on speaking much in public?” without expecting a proper answer, just intrigued by the possibility.

His face lightly tinted with a shade of red when Lucille replied almost immediately to his words, and moving his gaze away from her face he instinctively returned into a colder version of himself, not rude but surely more distanced. He surely meant something else, but the wording he chose was maybe a bit too much straightforward, and with a shier tone he replied “Oh, sure, I mean…” trying to explain himself, but the words didn’t come up in mind quick enough to continue the sentence, left in the middle with a short silence.

“Um, it’s just that you’re not the first person telling us something like that. So I just assumed…” he tried to explain again, but for the second time he left the sentence fade away in the awkward silence of the shop, instinctively looking again at the direction where Agnes was. The searching for the sister in those moments was so rooted that he didn’t even realize he had moved his gaze and turned his body away, until the joke Lucille made him giggle again.

“Oh, wow, I’m well honoured indeed!” he replied trying to look warmer again, even though his body language was still a bit off. He just needed a few more seconds to understand there was nothing to be ashamed off, and he would have returned just like before. “I think you and my sister might get along.” he finally said with a small smile.

Lucille panicked slightly, seeing him look a bit uncomfortable. She truly hadn't wanted that reaction, but she understood where it came from. Desperately, she tried to fix her mistake. "I'm sorry," she started carefully, her voice a bit softer now and her words a bit slower. "That was more a reflection of me than you. You didn't say anything wrong, and I should probably have reacted with a bit more thought." She laughed a little awkwardly then, but was determined to continue.

"See what I mean about not being able to read people? Trust me, if I could read the room, my response would've been much better. God knew I'd be too powerful if I was able to do that." She was back to her normal self, now, or, at least, determined to do so. Lucille was quite adept at keeping up the facade of not letting things get to her, and most people would think that any negativity went in one ear and out the other. It was true that Lucille tried not to pay such things any mind, but the complete immunity was definitely a little forced.

"I suppose you should be flattered that other people want to approach you so much, too." She noticed that he had said us and, surprisingly, she agreed with him. His sister had seemed just as intriguing as he had been. "I'd be quite happy to meet Agnes. I'm sure she's just as interesting as you are. And you can take turns putting up with me. When one of you gets annoyed, the other steps in."

From someone else, the self deprecation might have seemed strange or made people uncomfortable. However, Lucille's manner of self deprecating jokes was rooted in self awareness, and also the complete disregard to give that self awareness much power in her mind. She knew people frequently found her annoying, but, respectfully, she couldn't care less. People made the decision to speak to her and continue conversations, and if they weren't enjoying it, that seemed more their loss than hers. Or at least that's what she tried to tell herself. Lucille's philosophies always seemed to simplify the world much more than it truly was, but she was happy to make that little bubble for herself.

Seeing how Lucille was trying to dispel that aura of awkwardness that was flowing around them made Jules relax more, returning to a quieter yet warmer self like he was a few moments before. “Ahm, it’s okay, really.” he confirmed nodding, and was ready to move forward forgetting about what had happened.

He giggled again at how she described her little weakness as a way to limit her power, and nodding again he replied “I bet you would. I’ve always thought that me and Agnes got separated into twins for the same reason.” and crossed his arms with a small smirk. “We would be too powerful as a single person.” he continued with a more relaxed tone.

And it was true; he and his twin were really balancing each other. Jules was the responsible one, who preferred to stay more hidden while his twin put her face in the things. He was way more comfortable handling the problems and handing his sister the solution, even though he didn’t hate being in public. It was all a matter of balance, and in the years spent together they found the perfect balance in things. That was also probably why he still felt like something was missing when he had to handle things all by himself, even small ones like a simple conversation.

“Yeah, I suppose so… sometimes it’s a bit weird, but there are people in my family who got it worse.” he commented hearing how he should have been flattered by all that attention. He didn’t expand too much that topic, but there were certainly other cousins of his that drew attention too, but not the same kind he got. But anyways, he seemed to have noticed something in the final words of the girl, and tilting his head to the side he asked “Uhm? Why do you say you’re annoying?”

Lucille giggled at what he said about his relationship with his sister. Once again, she wondered what it would be liked to have a sibling close to her in age. She had often seen that these siblings seemed to be quite close and inseparable, and she wondered if she would've been the same way, had her siblings been that close in age to her. Lucille was quite independent, and, since her siblings had been at Hogwarts during the year, she only really had them around during the holidays growing up. They were still close, but Lucille knew that it would be nothing like the relationship Jules shared with Agnes.

Her brow furrowed a little in confusion when Jules spoke about how some people in his family had it worse. What exactly did that mean? He didn't elaborate, so Lucille didn't ask. She felt that there was more to him and his lineage than he was letting her know, but she figured he probably didn't want to talk about it with a stranger, so she digressed.

She was almost startled when he asked about the comment she made. To Lucille, it had simply been an offhanded comment, and she hadn't thought much about it when she said it. In fact, it had been an attempt at humor, so at first, she was confused about why he brought it up.

"Oh, don't worry!" she said quickly, not wanting him to feel concerned for her or take what she said seriously. "I mean, I'm well aware that I'm not everyone's cup of tea. But I don't mind. I like myself; I just understand that a lot of people think I'm a bit too much, and that's okay. To each their own." She smiled then. Lucille truly was not the sort of person to feel bothered when people disliked her, and she believed that everyone was entitled to their opinion. If people disliked her for one reason or another, it really didn't matter to her as long as she hadn't done anything wrong.

Jules captured the movement of her brow when he mentioned his family, but even if he understood she was curious and confused about that statement he wasn’t the type to reveal those kinds of things without a direct question, and also not in a random shop with someone he had just met. But Lucille looked nice and trustable, at least for the moment, so it was probably just a matter of time.

He had assumed again Lucille was implying something in her words: this time, he genuinely thought she was referring to herself as annoying, and wanted to know more about that. But apparently, she only meant her attitude might have been annoying for some kind of people, nothing too deep. He nodded at her explanation, and showed another small smile at her words.

“That’s the right attitude. I also like myself, as long as I don’t do anything that I don’t approve.” He commented nodding, and he truly meant it. He liked the kind of person he was becoming, even though he still had many things to work on; he was probably still too dependent on his sister, although he was certainly a lot warmer and more comfortable talking with Lucille than he was when she first approached them.

“You know? Those kind of things that absolutely don’t want to do. For me, it’s lying. I don’t like when I have to lie.” He added, trying to explain himself better before giving the wrong idea about what he thought about himself. There were some times in his life when he had to tell small lies to his parents, or maybe to his cousins, for any sort of reason. Most of the time they were all white lies, some other times they were to not get in trouble, but in any case, he was always feeling bad about that, and it showed very well on his face too.

“I’m not annoyed at all talking with you. You talk more and I like to listen more than talking. Besides, I also get told many times I'm too silent or that I stare too much.” He added after a small moment of silence, showing also a bigger smile this time.

Lucille laughed a little when he said people said he stared too much. It struck her as an odd thing to say or notice in someone. The silence part, she figured would be a bit more noticeable, but she tried to remember a single time she had ever noticed someone staring too much. Aside from blatant looks, she couldn't think up a single occurrence, certainly not something she could apply to Jules.

"That's funny," she said, her voice having a slightly firm tone, as if the notion was completely outlandish. "Imagine being offended at someone using their eyes." She snickered a little.

She was glad he said that he didn't lie, although, of course, that is what a liar would say. She believed him, though; he seemed like a genuinely nice person. Lucille had a history of being a bit too gullible and believing what people told her, but she stubbornly refused to change that about herself. She didn't want to be someone who was suspicious of other people when she had no reason to be so, despite falling for a few too many jokes or pranks, Lucille still continued to give the benefit of the doubt to everyone.

"It's nice that you don't lie. I think that's a very redeeming quality. Funnily enough, I tend to believe almost anything, I've been told, so I think we'll get along quite well in that regard. You don't lie, and I always believe them." She shifted a little, wondering if he would think her stupid or an idiot for admitting that. Lucille knew she could be naive, but she disliked when it was made fun of.

"I'm trying to think if I have something that I absolutely don't want to do," she said after a pause. "I suppose I don't want to hate people who have done me wrong. Not in a pretentious way. Simply because I don't think someone who wrongs me deserves me putting in energy and effort to hate them. I would simply like to get them out of my life and move on." She realized she had brought the conversation to a bit more serious direction. "Sorry," she said sheepishly. "You probably didn't mean this sort of thing. I couldn't think of anything else that might fit." There probably was some quality of hers which was more along the lines of what he expected, but Lucille truly could not pinpoint it at the moment.

When Jules heard that Lucille agreed with him and commented too on the issue he replied “I know, right?” with a more confident tone, almost as if he was perfectly at his pace now. There were times when he looked more like his sister, who was almost always cheerful and louder than him, especially when he had something passionate to talk about or when he got really understood.

“I just communicate better with the eyes, more than the mouth.” he explained rolling his eyes to the ceiling, not understanding why so many people kept repeating that staring at people and studying them was considered rude, and had to stick to what society considered appropriate.

“We’ll definitely get along well, yes.” he confirmed with a nod, then giggled once more and added “My parents would define you a pure soul, or something like that.” Hoping that she wouldn’t take it the wrong way. Jules wasn’t the only artistic member of the family: although he was the true artsy kid of the house, his parents also had that poetic vein in them.

Jules was definitely more lighthearted when he was talking about what he absolutely doesn’t like to do, but he noticed Lucille’s response to be a lot deeper than what he expected. He looked at her a bit puzzled, almost as if he wanted to understand her on a deeper level, and he found himself staring at her for some seconds, trying to understand better her hidden thoughts.

“Ah- sorry. I was staring, wasn’t i?” he asked, pushing away his gaze somewhere else. Of course, he also paid attention to what Lucille said, therefore replied “It makes sense. You are naturally a forgiving person, I guess. Or if not forgiving, the kind of person who doesn’t want any trouble.” Rephrasing her words to see if he understood correctly.

“Wow, this turned out way deeper than what it seemed.” he noticed, giggling. Nothing too much out of the ordinary for him, that liked better those kind of topics rather than small talk.

Sorry this one's a little short XD

Lucille giggled a little. "See? I hardly even noticed you were staring. I get a little caught up in my own head." Lucille had the tendency to focus on her words when she spoke, not really noticing other things. When she was quiet, she was relatively more observant, but, when she spoke, she would look around, her eyes just as scattered as her thoughts tended to be. Thus, she would quite often not observe the person standing in front of her as carefully as most might.

"I like that opinion of me," she said after a moment, having thought about it. "A pure soul, and a forgiving one, at that. You're definitely right about me not wanting trouble. I just really couldn't be bothered with unnecessary problems."

She stopped speaking for a second, taking the moment to observe the boy. Jules seemed like a kind person, someone reliable you'd want to have around. Plus, she got the feeling that he was the sort of person who wasn't quick to judge, and that was something she really respected.

"You seem a caring person to me. Someone who's always trying to help other people out," she said finally, having thought about her words carefully. Perhaps she got this impression from the way he immediately asked in concern when she made a self-deprecating comment, or how encouraging he seemed to be. She wasn't really sure.

He looked back at her when she didn’t mind the staring. “Really? I’m glad to hear that at least someone doesn’t find it annoying.” He replied more carefree, showing another small smile. He was practically used at that point to hear people – mostly adults, but kids too – complaining about how Jules only stared at people and talked rarely, usually replying to the question he got asked with short answers or just nods.

Apparently he got Lucille’s temper right, getting how she didn’t want to get into dramas and liked her chill just by looking at her face, and especially her eyes. He was quite good at reading other people’s eyes, that often spoke way more than any word he could have heard from them. “See? I told you i can read people easily. My sister thinks I’m a natural.” He commented nodding, but not in a prideful way, more like a simple statement.

It was then Lucille’s turn to guess what kind of person Jules was, and to his surprise she also got a pretty closeup of the boy, even if he never thought about him in that way. “Oh, you think? I’ve never really thought about that… I guess I don’t’ want to upset people, or see upset people in general. I’m really curious to see if the sorting hat will put me in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff.” He considered, and as much as he was thinking about it he couldn’t decide whether house was more fitting for him.

“But I guess we’ll both go to Ravenclaw. I don’t see my sister that much in Hufflepuff.” He added, taking for granted that the twins would have been sorted in the same house. There was no way the sorting hat would have considered them so different to place them in two different houses, right? It was even pointless to think about that eventuality, and so Jules moved forward.

“Right, do you have siblings?” he then asked, as he was putting his sister in almost all sentences, but he didn’t hear anything similar from Lucille.

No worries! It happens <3

When they spoke of houses again, Lucille realized how different they were, despite being able to talk so easily. Jules seemed quite sure he would be in a different house, and Lucille wondered if they would bump into Hogwarts eventually. The castle was huge, apparently, and it surely had hundred of students. She suddenly remembered her siblings telling her stories of their classes, and remembered how students of different houses would be in the same classroom. That meant she might see Jules later on as well. She figured it would be nice to see a familiar face, even if Lucille was one of the most extroverted beings on the planet, who would waste no time trying to befriend everyone she saw.

She snapped back to the present when he asked about her siblings. This had become quite common for her since the letter had arrived. Lucille would often fantasize about her future at Hogwarts, and she dearly hoped she wouldn't be disappointed.

"I have a brother and a sister, both much older than me. I'd say we're close but we're certainly not as close as you and Agnes seem to be." She shook her head with a smile, wondering once again what it would be like to have a sibling with her at Hogwarts. "My sister, Genevieve, is the oldest. She was a Slytherin in Hogwarts. Oliver's next. He was a Hufflepuff. I grew up only having them around for the holidays for most of my life. They were usually at Hogwarts, of course."

Talking about her siblings made a thought come to her mind. "You know," she started carefully, hoping Jules wouldn't take this the wrong way. "Gen and Ollie have always been quite close. Apparently, they were always together growing up. Still, the Sorting Hat felt they were different enough to go in different houses. Have you ever thought about that happening to the two of you?" She trailed off, unsure if she had said the wrong thing. Lucille was a little nervous and, of course, when she was nervous, she rambled. "I mean, I hope that doesn't happen to the two of you, since you seem to be quite close. It probably won't, anyway. Some people say the Sorting Hat just places you in the house you truly want to be in, so I'm sure it'll keep you both together. Plus, there's lots of different people in the same house."

Lucille's voice contained a confidence she didn't feel; not because she thought they would be separated; she certainly didn't know either of them well enough to even speculate, but because she was talking about something she didn't know a lot about. She didn't know anything about how the Sorting Hat worked, but she was hastily trying to remember anything and everything she'd ever heard about it. However, her voice hardly gave away even a hint of the uncertainty in her mind. After all, half of public speaking was confidence, and that was something Lucille was good at.
