A meeting at a gala
Elizabeth smiled, no, she wasn't reading from the book, but she had been made to learn by heart, the entire history of the Hamilton family. When Lucille saw all the books, Elizabeth smiled, this library is a paradise for all readers, plus there were plenty of kinds of books, fantastic, tragic, romantic, detective...
Elizabeth, who was an avid reader, hadn't even managed to read half of those who were here. Most of the time she read fantasy, detective and romantic but she had not read more than half of them.
Elizabeth smiled at Lucille
"There are all kinds of books here, adventures, mystery and many others. I spend a lot of time here because, between my piano lessons, horseback riding, and magic lessons I am often busy and so to decompress I come here. It's thanks to this book that I know several secret passages, some books were not there by chance and I found it strange that it was not in their place. I read them and I discovered several passages. Would you like us to find some together?"
Elizabeth knew that if her parents found out that she knew about the secret passages, they wouldn't hesitate to call the media so everyone would know.
Life is like a train, find the right carriage, meet new people, smile, cry, laugh but most importantly, live this life to the fullest and never stop smiling!

A meeting at a gala
Once again, Lucille perked up at some of Elizabeth's words. "Oh, I love to ride, too! It seems we have a lot in common." She smiled warmly, her voice calmer than it typically was. Apparently, her composed, formal outfit seemed to be affecting her demeanor, too.
"Lead the way," Lucille encouraged. She felt she could only follow Elizabeth here, letting her give a tour and allowing Lucille to explore. Clearly, Elizabeth was quite at home here, which was to be expected, of course. Lucille, on the other hand, would look around in wonder instead, taking it all in.
"I suppose you don't get lost? I certainly would, if every room was linked this much," she remarked. It was true. Although Lucille had a pretty good sense of direction, it would certainly fail her if she lived here, connected with winding passages and secret entrances.
It crossed her mind that Hogwarts, too, would have quite a few passages and secrets. She figured this might be good practice. Getting lost here was understandable; getting lost in Hogwarts would be mortifying. She was sure it would take her quite a while to learn where each staircase connected, what each wing of the castle was for, and the like. But she was prepared and ready, and surely exploring Elizabeth's mansion would be just as interesting.

A meeting at a gala
Elizabeth smiled at Lucille's enthusiasm. The young girl was kind and had a lot in common with Elizabeth. The young girl hesitated to show her the secret passage that led directly to the stables. Elizabeth's dress wasn't suitable for the stables, neither Elizabeth's nor Lucille's. She could show her other secret passages, but all were rather poorly maintained and dirty. Only the one leading to the stables was clean because Elizabeth used it so often that the dust never stayed there for long.
"Come on," Elizabeth said. "I'll show you the stables through a passage, but be careful with your dress; it might get caught on the stonework of the passages."
Elizabeth left the library and headed for her own bedroom. She pushed open the large white wooden door and entered. Her room was clean and tidy. No dust was on the two rugs. The young girl then opened her wardrobeβwell, the word wardrobe wasn't appropriate. Elizabeth's closet was the size of a room, and at the back of it, hidden behind dresses and jackets, was a door. The young girl pushed open the door and entered the passageway. Elizabeth crossed the entire length of it, descending a multitude of stairs, and finally, she pushed open a hidden door in the stables.
"Welcome to the Hamilton family stables!"

As Lucille followed Elizabeth as she navigated the winding mansion, she carefully lifted up her dress, gathering up the light skirt in her hands, to prevent it from dragging across the floor, specifically in the passageway. Although it seemed to be quite well-maintained, she worried for the hem of her dress getting caught on something she couldn't see, and so she went after Elizabeth far more carefully than Elizabeth walked. Clearly, the other girl was quite accustomed to the hallways.
When they entered the stables, Lucille let her dress drop back below her ankle, crossing her hands at the wrists in front of her, and looking up at the horses. Some seemed uninterested in the pair, while others peeked their heads out curiously above the stall doors. Although Lucille wanted more than anything to go up and greet them, she stayed put. She didn't want to go up to a horse that wasn't all that friendly and get bitten, and nor did she want her dress to get dirty.
"They're lovely," she said to Elizabeth, although her eyes still remained on the horses. "I do wish we could ride them, but of course, we can't do that today," she giggled, gesturing at her dress. She finally stopped looking at the horses and turned to Elizabeth. "Do you have a personal horse? Or a favorite? Or just one you ride often?" She asked with a little laugh, remembering her own horse at home. Although the pastures back home were often occupied by an abundance of different horses, Lucille's only horse was the bright bay mare she had, and she often didn't ride anyone else.

A meeting at a gala
Elizabeth smiled at Lucille's enthusiasm. It had been a long time since she'd had a young girl to introduce her horses to, and one who was so excited to see them. Lucille asked if she could ride them, but she knew very well she wouldn't be able to. Elizabeth smiled, too, and would have loved to ride them, but today was the day of her parents' gala; if she wanted her and Lucille to be able to ride them, she would have to wait until tomorrow. Elizabeth smiled at her and said :
"Oh, I'd love to ride, but you see, with the dresses, it's not practical, and I'll soon have to play the piano in the great hall! But if you want, you can come back tomorrow! And yes, I have a favorite mare, her name is Snow."
While speaking, the young girl approached her mare's stall, whose coat was a dazzling white. She whined, and to calm her down, Elizabeth stroked her between the ears.
"You see, she's a mare who needs to run every day, so tonight I'll take her for a walk! And you, do you have a favorite horse? Do you have one at home?"
Elizabeth looked at the clock on the wall and then exclaimed,
"We're going to be late getting to the great hall!"
Elizabeth took Lucille's hand and set off in the opposite direction.

"Oh, definitely, I do," Lucille said, following behind Elizabeth to say hello to Snow. The mare seemed restless, like she wanted to come out, and Lucille giggled reminded of her own mare at home.
"She's quite like Snow, in that she hates being cooped up. She's usually in the pasture, for precisely that reason." Before Lucille could say more, Elizabeth had grabbed her hand and was pulling her along.
Lucille laughed, tripping a little and then gathering her dress in her free hand, as Elizabeth raced inside. "I'm sure a few moments won't hurt," she said jokingly. Understandably, Elizabeth seemed more concerned than her about being late. It was her party, after all, and Lucille was simply attending.
Once her initial surprise dissipated, Lucille found no trouble in keeping up with Elizabeth, even if she wasn't wearing the most adequate footwear for running. Lucille was getting excited as they neared the great hall. Elizabeth had said she would have to play the piano and, after the snipper Lucille had heard in the music room, she was excited to witness a full piece. She knew her mother would appreciate it, too. Perhaps it was a remnant of her own traditions from when she was younger. Her mother never spoke much about it, so Lucille could never be sure.

A meeting at a gala
Lucille and Elizabeth arrived just in time because Elizabeth's father was in trouble to announce her arrival on stage. The crowd applauded when Elizabeth climbed onto the platform where the piano was. The girl put her hands on the keyboard and began to play a melody she had known for a long time, Pachelbel's Canon in d.
When the piece was finished, everyone applauded. His mother smiled at him and so did his father. As she came down from the platform, Elizabeth smiled to invite them all. When at last she was able to reach Lucille, she asked her :
"- Did you like my piece?"
Elizabeth was thinking about it quickly, maybe if she asked her parents nicely, maybe they would accept that Luillle comes to go horseback riding.
She turned to Lucille and explained what she had in mind.
"-Do you think your mother will want to take you back tomorrow to go horseback riding?"
But before convincing Lucille's mother, it was above all her parents who had to be convinced. Seeing that her mother was alone, Elizabeth asked Lucille not to move and she went to see her mother. Elizabeth talked for 5 minutes with her mother and she came back smiling
"- Mom agrees that you come back to ride at home!"

A meeting at a gala
As Elizabeth left her to play the piano, Lucille scanned the crowd for her mother. Noticing her, her mother waved a little to get her attention, and as the sound of Elizabeth's piano filled the room, Lucille made her way towards her mother, taking a seat next to her.
Elizabeth was quite good. The pleasant melody was lovely to hear, and Lucille could understand why the girl's parents had wanted her to play in front of everyone. She tried to think if she had any performative talent like this, but couldn't recall a single one. Her only talent was art, and that wasn't exactly something one typically did onstage.
When Elizabeth finished, Lucille applauded as the girl made her way to her. "You're really very good," Lucille said when Elizabeth finally reached, nodding in approval. Elizabeth had looked graceful and elegant up on stage.
Elizabeth was quite excited to go riding, and Lucille glanced up at her mother, a bit hesitant. She knew her mother was often busy in London, and wondered if they would have enough time for her to come back. Sure enough, her mother's response was noncommittal. "I guess we'll see. I do have a lot to do, Lu," she said, her voice seeming a bit distant. Lucille knew her mother's mannerisms could be intimidating, but really she was probably thinking of her schedule, and seeing if there was time for the pair to ride.
Lucille turned back to Elizabeth, a bit apologetic. "Sorry, that's probably a no. We might have time later? Mother always has work to do here, so she doesn't often schedule things spontaneously." Lucille knew she was overcompensating with an explanation, but she still tried nonetheless.
