A Pretty, Shiny Thing

Blue was a divine color indeed. Often times people looked to the colors of autumn or spring as the most beautiful colors that the world had to offer. They treasured the yellows, oranges, purples and reds, but blue was the color of life really. It did represent the world they lived in as nothing would exist without it. While water was surely the world most precious resource, to Kazimir he always looked to the blues he found in his habitat. Yes, the rivers and springs were essential to their survival, but it was the little hints of it he founds in the wildflowers or within the rocks of his mountain home. "Blue means family. It is our color, it marks our banners and flags. For us it is our pledge of loyalty to each other. I wish I had my sapphire to show you. It was gift for me before I leave for school." The little gem was by far one of his most treasured possessions.
Kazimir only smiled when Claire told him what the color meant to her. His intention was not to embarrass her, but sometimes people felt that way when answering personal questions. The boy was often told not to push too many injuries like that onto people, but he liked to get to know people on an intimate level. Small talk and acquaintances just didn't make any sense to Kazi. "Don't be shy, I like the way you talk." He was trying to reassure her, so hopefully that didn't make her more uncomfortable.
When Claire spoke of Beauxbatons his eyes became full of wonder. What a wild thought to imagine going to such a regal sounding place to learn. Four floors, a beautiful chateau, gardens sprawling out for morning or afternoon walks. He imagined himself spending hours there studying the plants and looking at the butterflies. "That sounds amazing. Koldovstoretz is very different. We have yurts and many rooms underground. There is lot of pride though. Very hard workers." His school was not nearly as regal as a castle or a chateau, but the spirit of the founders still lived on. They were survivors and stout defenders of magic and Kazimir appreciated those ideals. "Have you been to Russia before?"

Sorry, I'm sooo late! Nearly a month! Hope the quality is as good as my previous ones.
Claire listened with interest. That was very good way to think of the color blue. She blushed a little when her said he liked to hear her talk. Claire could really feel the mood of his school, from what he had said. Something about his voice, she could tell that he was very proud of his school. She wondered what he liked best about it. Claire would like to visit Koldovstoretz someday. And Russia in general, of course.
Then Claire realized that he had asked her a question. "No, I haven't visited Russia before, but I'd like to. I'd especially like to see your school. I have only traveled in Europe." She had visited Ireland and Germany once before, although she didn't remember much, because she had been really little. She had also been to England twice. Her family started planning to visit Belgium a couple years ago, but then her family got a bad cold and lost the break in her father's job, because they took the break being sick. But, family travels really had to stop when it was time for Claire to start attending school.
She shaded her eyes with her hand to see if her father was still talking. Claire saw his silhouette gesturing wildly, with his hands and arms, about something. He was still talking and probably not going to be done any time soon. As if he felt her gaze, Père turned from his chat and waved to her. She waved back, with her free hand to show him where she was.
"Sorry," Claire said apologizing for turning from their conversation without warning. She was always polite, even though he probably didn't mind. "What is your favorite part about Koldovstoretz?" she asked him, realizing that she hadn't said her question yet.
Don't be fooled by my looks, blood, and riches; I am actually really nice.
