I smile after he answers my question. Well kinda did. “Wow that’s not surprising actually. Probably is everyone’s first question.”

He says that he could argue for all four. And that it’s up to the sorting hat. After he says that we all fall into a silence. I look out the window wondering how far are we from hogwarts. And how long have we been in this train. Luca breaks the silence by asking why I want gryffindor instead of slytherin.

“I’ve officially made it my goal to be the opposite of my mother. She’s terrible really. And I rather take after my grandmother. She’s also my mothers mother and I have no clue how that happened. My fathers more like my grandma than my mother. I don’t know his parents though. And being a gryffindor sound nice.”

I smile apologetically for my answer being so long. I look out the window once more. After another few moments of silence a thought crosses my mind. The girl, Olivia, hasn’t said anything. I ask another question to the both of them all though it’s more directed to her.

“Do y’all feel really homesick already? Or are you guys very excited? Not to get to personal though just curious,” I smile at them.

"Yeah, I bet everyone is wondering what house they'll end up in and who they'll be living with. Maybe I'll end up in Gryffindor too because they have courage," Luca responded, agreeing with Bree. He took a moment to think as his eyes casually traveled over both girls in front of him. Luca mentioned Gryffindor to appear courageous to them, but deep down, he still felt determined to be the best and make his parents proud. As the train chugged along the tracks, the young boy looked out and saw a faint glow in the distance; his face lit up.

"I think we're getting close!" Luca exclaimed excitedly as he shifted his body from the center of his bench seat to lean slightly against the cabin window. He tried to get a better view of the castle, which was growing closer with each passing moment, but they were still a little ways away. I can't believe I am going to Hogwarts, Luca thought for a moment as he watched the outline of the castle in the distance begin to take a more defined shape.

"Are you excited for the boat ride across the Great Lake? My mom told me about it the day before we left. She said she was scared because the lake itself is pitch black, and the only light you have is the faint glow of the castle and a single lantern at the front of the boats," Luca said, detailing the memory that his mother shared with him about her first trip to the Hogwarts castle. He looked back in surprise, as the castle was much closer now, indicating that they were nearer than he had thought.

"Wow, that got close really fast!" Luca pointed out.

Luca couldn't take his eyes off the window as Hogwarts castle grew larger with each passing moment. It felt like he had been watching the castle for ages when suddenly he realized it was beginning to shrink in size. It became clear to Luca that they weren’t heading to the castle, but around it. He settled back in and exchanged idle comments with the other two cabin patrons before noticing that the train was starting to slow down as the smoke he had seen earlier dissipated quickly.

The boy's eyes immediately returned to the cabin window as he noticed the Hogsmeade Station sign go by. Luca couldn't help but conceal his excitement as his gaze glided over every detail of Hogsmeade Station and the surrounding area. Luca wanted to take it all in as quickly as he could, but he felt overwhelmed by the moment. He realized he had stopped breathing for a moment and caught his breath, acknowledging the sheer awesomeness of the world he was about to enter.

"Well, it was not meeting the both of you," Luca said to Olivia and Bree before standing up and escaping. Perhaps it was rude not to wait for a response, but the boy couldn’t contain his excitement. I should have let them say goodbye, but they must be as excited as I am! I’ll see them later, I'm sure. They were nice, Luca thought before he joined the large crowd stepping off the Hogwarts Express.

Once he made it off the train, Luca heard a voice calling out over all the others: "First-years! First-years! Please follow me!"
