He was right of course.

"Okay, so we're both biased, but you're right." If she had really thought about it she would have eventually come to that conclusion, but the Gryffindor impulsiveness was getting to her. She pursed her lips trying not to smile, "Oh, yeah, I definitely play a sport here at Hogwarts, what gave it away?"

She chuckled a bit, stirring the wax a bit more, carefully picking the vessel up and pouring the hot liquid into a warmed mason jar. Graci got out some twine and tied it around the top, making sure to make sure no wax had dripped anywhere.

"Paprikash sounds delightful. I should try it sometime. I prefer either enchiladas or Souvlaki. It's a Greek dish. Chicken, pita bread, vegetables, the works."

She got out a little cut piece of paper and wrote '𝕽𝖆𝖋𝖆𝖑', "Once the candle sets you can have it, I'll find you. And what's your last name? It looks prettier when you have the first and last name on the tag."

She had no need for extra candles, it was just something to occupy her time. She could always give this to the divination teacher. Graci didn't even know who the divination teacher was, but only that the stereotypes said they liked moods and ambiance.

Her mental playlist had just switched songs, now to a mellower one, by Michael Schulte.

Sarcasm meant that Graci was becoming more comfortable around him. Rafal couldn’t help but smile as he replied, "Oh, I just have a knack for those kinds of things." It was nice to see that he had introduced another person to what would likely be the greatest sensory experience of their life. "I know about Souvlaki, it’s very good."

As they talked, Graci seemingly finished up the final stages of her candle making process. Pouring the hot wax into a mason jar, she tied twine around the top, then got out a little piece of paper. As the Slytherin watched on interestedly, she wrote down his name on it.

"Wait, seriously?" Rafal was very much touched. He’d only just met this girl, and already she was offering him one of her handmade candles as a gift? "Thanks so much! And it’s um, Devereux." He paused. "Okayyy, so it might be better if I just write it down." Nobody ever gets the spelling of his last name right, at least not without a lot of confusion and hostility.

D-e-v-e-r-e-u-x. Upon completion, Rafal looked around the classroom contemplatingly. He picked his satchel back up from where he’d set it, and turned back to Graci. "Hey, so would you mind if I go off now?" Those essays weren’t going to write themselves! "Sorry if it’s sudden, but I have some homework I need to do, and…" he trailed off.

"That's a really cool last name." It really was beautiful, Graci could appreciate pretty last names.

"Oh yes, I don't mind, I was just about to start packing up anyway. And getting behind on homework really isn't worth it." Graci waved to him as he left, and started to pack up her stuff.

She dumped out the water when used to melt the wax and set the pan aside to cool off. Then she started shoving the extra wicks, wick tabs, and wax.

Graci decided she could start humming again and hope no more straggling Slytherins would hear her. Not all Slytherins are as nice as Rafal.

Well, they probably are, but I need to do homework too.

Deciding on a song was always the hard part. There were so many good ones and they all were fun to sing. But she also didn't have the range for all of them, which is quite sad.

Instead of dwelling on that she just picked a lower range song that she could hum in a different octave. Mr. Rager by Kid Cudi. It wasn't actually about being angry, and she really liked how it was almost like a conversation.

So while she started clean up her candle equipment, she hummed.
~Birds sing flying around
You never see them too long on the ground
You wanna be one of them, yeah
You wanna be one of them, yeah
You might hear the birds singing flying around
You never see them too long on the ground
You wanna be one of them, yeah
You wanna be one of them, yeah
Whoa now, hey, Mr. Rager, Mr. Rager
Tell me where you're going, tell us where you're headed
I'm off on the adventure
Mr. Rager tell me some of your stories, tell us of your travels
Hey, Mr. Rager, Mr. Rager
Tell me where you're going, tell us where you're headed
I'm on my way to heaven
Mr. Rager, can we tag along? Can we take the journey?~
By the time she was a decent bit through the song she was done, and she left the classroom with a smile on her face and a tune on her mind.
~Graci has exited the thread~
