“It’s just… most people see me as... a bit odd is all,” she said, her smile falling slightly. Despite the slight downcast of her expression, there was some wisdom in her face as if she had heard the words but never allowed them to define her. Her innocence returned when he mentioned his own art. “I simply don’t know what to do with myself when I don’t have my sketchbook. It’s been taken from me in class a few times, actually.” She wasn’t unaware of his carefulness for the book, her green eyes flicking to it before she looked back at him, though not questioningly. There was a gently restrained curiosity in her eyes, but she didn’t push.
When the Escanora went on to ask about her time at Hogwarts, her speech came out a bit more bubbly than intended. “Oh, I adore it here! Despite knowing my brother was a wizard and I was lucky enough to inherit magic, actually learning to use my magic always seemed out of reach for me.” The way she glanced up at the sky implied exactly how out of reach she believed honing her abilities was for her– Perhaps as unattainable as the stars. “I grew up in Flagler, a rather plain town with rather plain people. Just having red hair was uncommon, never mind being a witch! I never really had friends, other than my brother, Prosper, of course.” She gestured a lot as she spoke when she wasn’t messing with the soft blades of glass beside the two of them.
“Care of Magical Creatures and Defence Against the Dark Arts are what I’m really excited for! Prosper tried to teach me a few things at home and well…there is a lamp missing from our living room. Hopefully, it will go better now that I'm using my own wand.” Brianna pulls her wand from the pocket in her robe on the ground, running her fingers along the chestnut wood lightly before twiddling it between her fingers for a moment. She viewed the magical item with a sort of admiration, one seen when holding a tool. Her hands were meant to create, not destroy, obvious enough in their markings of spilled paint, lead, and the loose grip she had on her wand before she tucked it behind her ear with a strand of her ginger hair that had come loose.

Lucien watched as Brianna's smile faltered. People thought her to be odd, that was something that Lucien understood quite well. "Don't worry, people think me odd as well. Mostly because of how I speak. Most people think it's because I'm rich so I should have a refined language or form of speaking but the truth is, I just think the way people spoke many eras ago was much better and proper than now." He said smiling happily. "I don't think you are odd."
He listened closely when Brie talked about Hogwarts. She seemed positively excited about it. Her words were similar to Lucien's thoughts. It did seem out of reach honestly, even though he grew up constantly in the face of newspapers and interviews about magic. "Both of those are quite fun. I'm more of a Herbology and Potions fan however. I'm working on creating a new potion actually. It takes up a lot of my time. While you create beautiful art, I create accidental explosions." He said laughing a bit. Of course he wasn't bad at potions, he was terribly amazing at it, he just wasn't extremely good at creating new potions that he invented himself.
He remained silent for a bit enjoying the weather, and couldn't help but compare Brie to his sister once again. Brie seemed to view her wand as a tool to create while Ara only saw it as something to destroy anything in her path. It amazed him to meet someone so kind and brilliant, which was the opposite of what he was used to.

"Prosper always says that status has nothing to do with the manners and capabilities of a person," Brianna said, closing her eyes for a moment as if she had her ear talked off with those words in the past. Her expression softened as she continued, looking at Lucien with a smile. "Anyone can be anything if they try hard enough, yeah?" Whoever this Proper was, her brother, not that Lucien would know... he quite obviously prepared her for the challenges of not coming from a wizard prominent family without giving her a bad impression of those who did. That, or she was blissfully naive enough to give everyone a chance. "I don't think you are odd either. But you are... different. In a good way, I mean!"
"I– unfortunately– haven't gotten along with the cauldron so well this year... It must run in the family! I swear, as soon as our professor saw my last name, she gave me a worried look. I would be more worried about her books. I would feel horrible if something happened to them, they really are lovely," Brianna rambled for a moment, twirling the end of her braid around her index finger. She perked when she picked up his interest, tilting her head slightly with a grin. "I'm sure you are much better than I am at brewing things," she said with a little shrug, though her gaze was encouraging. "You know, I'll bet my Fantastic Beasts book something is going to come of all those explosions of yours," she teased gently. She became a bit sheepish once his compliment registered, beginning to tug out hairband. The braid was loose enough already, she might as well redo it. For a moment, the sun wasn't obscured by the castle's astronomy tower, leaving her to sit up and squint her eyes closed, enjoying the sun on her freckled face before a cloud soon made its way to shade them once more. That must have been where she got all those freckles to begin with.
As Brianna carded through her hair, not finding this silence awkward in the least, she fell into curious thoughtfulness about Lucien's mention of his family, as she was quite suddenly missing hers since she spoke of her elder brother. By the time she worked up the fact that she could simply ask instead of speculating, her ginger hair was in soft, uneven curls past her shoulders. "Earlier, you mentioned you mentioned a family trip. What is your family like? If you don't mind me asking, I mean..." She didn't seem to think about how that was a difficult question for some, since it was difficult for her, too. She hadn't exactly had a mother... what she had now though was enough. Her chest felt a bit tight, and her concern flashed in her sea-green gaze momentarily when she began to wonder whether what Lucien had was enough for him...
"You know," she started softly, not letting him answer her question just yet, "You can come over to my house whenever you would like over the break. It isn't very big, and it's a little messy, but I think you might like it when we put up the lights. Prosper goes a bit overboard all the time... We have a kneazle, too. You aren't allergic, are you?" Realizing she might have cut him off, she sheepishly bit her lip to stop talking as her cheeks reddened. "Sorry," she mumbled, beginning to re-braid braid her hair.
