Difference Between Ability and Special Ability
I noticed some people have abilities like "Sixth Sense" or "Cat's Grace" that are not special abilities but are abilities where one ability can be obtained per year. Are those just considered as talents?Hjørdis Jensen wrote: 16 Nov 2024, 21:40Not sure what you mean by normal abilities. I think that would just be the same thing as the special ones but people call it something different?
The page I linked contains all of our abilities. It can be something attached to your character's race (I.e. part giant, dhampir, part veela etc) or talent (I.e. seer, metamorphmagus) or a special ability of your choice.
There are no other abilities but people may call the special ones, "normal abilities" or something. We use the word "ability" to refer to whatever is in your trunk (this could be a magical race or talent ability OR a special one - you only get one per year, either way, and they would be your one ability for the entire year).
Could you give me an example of what you'd class as a normal ability if you're asking about something different?

Click the link I sent you - those are listed under the special abilities post. They aren't talents (a talent is something that gives you 4 abilities over the 7 years, like Seer. It is similar to a magical race).Yougle Crenshaw wrote: 16 Nov 2024, 22:06I noticed some people have abilities like "Sixth Sense" or "Cat's Grace" that are not special abilities but are abilities where one ability can be obtained per year. Difference Between Ability and Special Ability
I think the confusion is stemming from the wording in the first answer post here, that differed between normal and special abilities, the categorization there was a bit confusing. Maybe this clears some things up:
"Normal abilities" (as used in the first answer): Don't exist, this was referring to our special abilities. Hjørdis has linked those for you.
"Special abilities" (as used in the first answer): This was not referring to abilities at all, but our special races and talents, which are the following:
Seer (talent)
Parselmouth (talent)
Metamorphmagus (talent)
Dhampir (race)
Werewolf (race)
Part-Giant (race)
Part-Goblin (race)
Part-Veela (race)
