AEIOUSA"Hang in there" was what Prat's body would say if it could speak on it's own and was not under the control of it's brain. This duel was as harrowing of an experience as it could be imagined for him. Stuck in the middle here with all sorts of silly spells cast on him was not something he looked forward to experiencing this time. But this sinking ship could still be salvaged as Prat attempted to cast a mimblewimble, the cast however successful, had it's Achilles heel as Prat's aim was only much worse then when the game began. Struggling with all the afflictions casted upon him, he could barely pinpoint and shoot something towards Lea. It wouldn't have taken a genius to discern Prat was most likely to miss, which he did in the subsequent seconds that came.

It was no surprise to him but rather something he had planned to happen or rather predicted, planning would imply he had a way out of his predicament. He did not. The lad had to stay there and suffer the consequences of his action further more while he remained on the piste. As long as he wasn't fainted he had much to do.

Lea nearly felt bad for the Slytherin, if not for the fact that he had signed up for this. Whether the full realization of what spells could be cast had ever entered his mind was his problem. Still, for the number of effects he was under, the Second Year seemed to hold up well as only the freezing seemed to be wearing him down. The sicknesses were unfortunate and quite a messy distraction, but Lea found they often didn't actually hurt- only maybe psychically from embarrassment and the inability to grab tissues. A little more, sneezing now instead of just runny noses, surely wouldn't be too much more to handle. Thank goodness there were cleaning charms though, the Hufflepuff already mentally preparing a list as she awaited his rebuttal.

The spells he was casting back at her were smart- if any of them ever caught ahold of her, he could quickly try and take the upper hand. It would still be a challenge, she imagined, but her respect for him would drastically increase. As it were though, the distractions continued their job as Lea sidestepped the next rapidly approaching spell with a slight stumble but still no chance of hitting. A little closer than preferred, but a miss was still a miss. Lea turned her attention to Alyssea with a slight head tilt to the towards Prat, "If you've been curious about the rest, I think these next few spells might give a clue." Hopefully the Slytherin wouldn't have to suffer much longer.

Now, this, this was getting juicy. Alyssea had vaguely heard of a spell that transformed one's snot into bats. Piérre mentioned it when he moderated her last duel after her team had pulled out both the Sneezing Hex and Curse of the Bogies in one round—the Bat Bogey Hex, she remembered. Alyssea wasn't entirely sure what she was expecting to see with the name 'Bat Bogey Hex', but it still very much surprised her when bats suddenly surrounded Prat.

Despite the chaos, he waved his wand to conjure a decent storm cloud. Classic. Lea could easily blow that away with a gust of wind just like every senior faced with the spell. (Alyssea was suddenly reminded that she should probably perfect that spell from Charms homework, lest she fall behind the rest of her classmates.) But in a rare display of luck, the damn cloud actually struck her.

Like, an actual lightning bolt fell from the sky and hit her with impeccable aim.

Well, Alyssea had watched a movie some time ago where (she couldn't remember the title, like, at all except for—) a group of kids were playing by the lake near the house like any normal day in their lives. The only tragic thing was that the oldest boy(?) had fallen into the lake at some point while they were playing and lightning struck. It took her mother and brother explaining the scene on pause for her to actually get why everyone had been so somber after that. Good thing the duelling piste was not underwater or somewhat submerged.

AEIOUSAThis... this was utterly, completely, unprecedented! Prat's heart raced as he watched the lightning bolt streak towards Lea. The tense look on Prat's face had morphed into one of smugness and cockiness. For once, Lea who had seemingly looked untouchable to him looked...human. The cloud he had conjured as his last ditch attempt had done more than just put on a show. It had struck her with the precision of a seasoned Striker. He had never felt so alive, so powerful! This was it, the moment he had been dreaming of, the moment he had trained for, and it was all thanks to that ridiculous spell he believed was useless. How could he have seen it coming? How could have anyone even anticipated this happening? This was the collective gift from the world for all the bad luck he had been suffering. The taste of sweet, sweet victory that was landing an accidental blow. He felt like a phoenix rising from the ashes of his former self-doubt. All before he remembered the duel did not end with him landing a hit and Lea probably had more coming for him. The chaos of the bats surrounding him only added to the threat coming his way, their tiny wings beating a frantic symphony that echoed his tense state of mind.

The Bat Bogey Hex was a new one to Lea's arsenal, its first appearance in the Duelling Club from her wand. It was a little shaky, a cast nearing the edge of disarray yet she managed to keep a hold long enough to throw it towards her opponent. Thankfully the years of practice took control, aim still precise that Prat had little chance of escaping. Bats flew to life, a gross yet fascinating display that Lea appreciated being on the far side of the piste from. A little lackluster, but with teammates who could perform all at the same time it could certainly prove dangerous. The little note slotted itself into the back of her mind, a thought for later ponderings.

There was some momentary confusion at Prat pointed upwards instead of at Lea, questioning his vision and accuracy. The storm was a common conjuration though, removing that need to aim in favor of gambling with lightning strikes. She never found them reliable but she had been struck in the past, a little uncertain to be standing underneath the dark clouds longer than necessary. But surely it wouldn't-

Lea saw white, a thunderous crash that rung in her ears, enough to scramble any thoughts and scatter them to the winds. A frozen statue until the bells quieted, she blinked before seeing the opponent across the stage and Alyssea on the side. It felt unusually still, but the Hufflepuff still stood so the duel continued. It had happened before, but never more than once in an individual duel. She hoped to keep it that way. One lucky hit, that was all.

Lea laughed, a growing smirk mirroring Prat's with a small bit of- was it pride?- for the Slytherin across the piste. "Alright, I think that's enough."

Now, not much happened in this round and Alyssea had some thoughts on the matter. Not that she was probably qualified to give it to them but, hey! Free will, you know?

Prat was still dealing with snot bats. But despite such a predicament, he managed to dodge Lea's Fire-Making Spell II with ease. Well, either that or her aim was slightly off. While it was a good idea to dodge spells in any duel, Alyssea figured it would've been worth getting hit with it. Prat was still freezing from the first round when Lea cast the Freezing Charm on him. The fire would've hurt more, but he would've warmed up enough to stop shivering. Anyways, the fact he managed to dodge it was an achievement, so she supposed it was worth the recognition.

Lea still had a dark cloud over her, though the lightning's aim this time wasn't as good. It got close enough to give Alyssea a scare, but not close enough to land another hit. Maybe that last strike was simply a fluke.

They were at the half-way mark now. Honestly? It was pretty clear who was going to win, but Alyssea kept her mouth shut. The tables could still turn (even though she highly doubted it could).

AEIOUSASuffering.....that was what Prat was going through. With the constant debuff spells he had been under for so long, he wasn't even sure what was going on anymore. Only constant was the pain from prior spells and the effect they were having on him. He wasn't at a place where he might faint or need to tap out. But he wasn't doing good either. Lea was fast, faster on her feet then he had expected. None of his spells so far had lander. She didn't give him much of a chance at doing so either. The difference in their skill was vast, vast enough where he need not compel himself to keep going, unlike his duels against those closer to his own age.

Lea would now pose as the impossible wall in his growth, until the time he overcomes it. A task he did not consider accomplishable for the foreseeable future. It simply seemed impossible, but so did almost all feats before someone accomplished them. With the bats still around him, added with how cold he felt from the freezing spell. His agony did not seem to be coming to an end, instead it only appeared to be increasing with time.

After a path of carefully calculated successes against the Slytherin, these sudden two turns of errors bubbled within her, a patience nearly ready to spill. It should be easy to take out a Second Year- she certainly could have long before if not wanting to mess with some newer spells at the beginning- but this was taking too long. Him being unable to attack back was a nice bonus, a happy little dip away from her expectations. That that would then lead Prat to whisking himself out of the way in time to not burn despite the current lack of warmth was not such a happy deviation.

She pursed her lips, blinking a bit as the Hufflepuff debated how to recalculate this. Was it just go for the same plan and continue on as though nothing happened? Switch it up for something entirely different and keep each spell new for the memorization practice- take this less seriously to the level intended? Either would probably work, a slow exhale and nod as the Fifth Year finally acknowledged Prat's evasion. "Good. Now just have to repeat it." That's all a lot of duelling was- practice and repetition until each spell and move was drilled into your bones, leaving the thinking for before and after the piste or once this started to go wrong.
