Avis smirked as Eonaria matched her sarcasm, and continued to read her book. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the girl tear up a bit. Oh for holden's sake. She hadn't been that insulting. In her opinion, Eonaria really needed to learn how to keep her emotions in check. Were all pure-borns this sensitive? If so, Avis made a mental note to avoid them. Apparently, the girl was born in England. Again with the nitpicking of the words! Muggle England, was what she had meant, and hadn't realized that it was necessary to say.
Still, a tinge of guilt flickered through Avis as she saw the girl tear up and she was about to turn around and apologise, but it disappeared as soon as the girl responded with a yes. Avis' jaw dropped and she whipped her head about. What? Seriously? The girl actually thought she was better than Avis. Any guilt had flown away at this point, and Avis bit her lip and returned to her book. She would not acknowledge that with an answer.
"Look, if you ever want people to like you, you could probably do away with that infuriating attitude."
Avis rolled her eyes. Right. The thing was, Avis didn't really care if people liked her. Or at least, the people who couldn't help her. She cast a small sarcastic wave at the girl's retreating back and returned to her book. Good riddance.
