Quidditch Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff - Fall 2024

The weather was something I usually would find quite depressing, and yet I couldn't stop smiling. Today's match with Hufflepuff was something that had my adrenaline all high, even when I know I am to be benched for this match. All the players have already set out for the field, while I took a seat in the benches, ready to watch the match, I could feel my excitement and anxiousness mix up into a soup of confused but thrilled emotions. I tapped my feet, nervous about the match outcome.

As the crowd cheered for Gryffindor, I joined along in the same spirit. This sport is truly something that brings out the team spirit, the friendly banters and bets, and is just the true meaning of happiness in its purest form.

I can't wait to see how this match turns out to be.

This was all new to Erlea. Yes, she knew Quidditch, and had gone to plenty of matches herself. But girls in her family didn't play sport. Something her mother said would turn her feral. Well, her mother wasn't here at Hogwarts. And since she had turned her back on Erlea, well, it was time to turn her back on her mothers opinions. The young girl was here to have fun, maybe make a bruise or two, break a broom. Who knew?

She signed up for Quidditch at the start of the year as soon as she could, and and she was in her first game. A reserve, but still. She sat on the bench, watching the team get ready to fly into the air. She turned to one of the other second string players, @Shubhangi Kanjilal, and grinned. "This is going to be great!" she crowed.

Taking a deep inhale, a smile spread across Atlas' lips. She adored the sound of the rain, its scent and the dreary ambiance it provided. It made the game infinitely more difficult but that didn't remotely diminish her excitement. She was feeling confident in her team. They had practiced in bad weather plenty of times and knew how to adapt to the unique challenge. As long as everyone handled their jobs, she knew Gryffindor wouldn't have a chance.

Flying into the rain, Atlas gave a quick laugh as she was quickly drenched and flipped her hair to the side. Visibility might be obscured a bit but she was more concerned for the seekers. Their job was hard enough without needing to find the snitch in a watery haze. She flicked her gaze to Ethen who didn't look remotely concerned. She actually had no idea what the boy was doing but that was common.

Getting into her position, she knew she wanted a better performance than her last time out. She detested people scoring on her. While usually able to create a defiant wall, she knew it would make things trickier to catch while the quaffles were slick. Not that it mattered, her confidence remained high and determined as she awaited the start of the game.

Keepers Catch
10% chance to automatically block an attempt to score a goal as long as the Keeper is in the goal area. If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may as a free action hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice (it would be recovered with a quaffle grab action) and treated like a bludger or pass the quaffle to a team mate. This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized.

Evasive Maneuvers
Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separately from the attack roll.

He'd arrived two hours early to the locker room, pacing up and down it, bouncing a quaffle thoughtlessly against the floor and walls. In his mind he was still there, back in Hogsmeade, seated across from @Mathias Pride and @Winnie Harper. As if the false accussations thrown at his feet weren't enough, he'd been escorted out of Hogsmeade, like some criminal. A parting gesture from Mathias no doubt, only a bully like him would feel the need to kick a downed animal and rub salt in its wounds.

While the betrayal stung, disbelief still kept that knive from cutting too deeply. His sense of duty for the game ahead gave him something else to channel his bitter confusion toward, a temporary outlet for the poison brewing within.

The skies had turned an ominous gray and none of the morning warmth remained. Rain poured down in wind-whipped sheets. How fitting, he thought morosely as he mounted his broom.

The weather was rather menacing today. Dark and windy and heavy with a promise to only worsen as the day got late and yet, despite being drenched in weather that would arguably make the game harder for everyone involved, optimism seemed to hold out for most. Or at least something like grim or mild acceptance for certain players' possible demise if the Hufflepuff's Seekers little meditation episode was anything to go by.

He’d say it was disturbing to witness but the sleepy Gryffindor didn’t really have room to talk did he? If anything Elsian could admit he was just grouchy seeing everyone so calm and content playing in weather that was made for optimal napping conditions inside a warm cozy castle. Alas, there would be no naps. Only sports and violence.

“Full confidence?” He shoved down the lazy longing for sleep in his heart with a low chuckle of guilt, words mostly to himself with the rush of rain drowning everything out. “Well, now I feel even worse for showing up late to the last practice.”

One could only hope he wouldn’t end with the same alarming amount of bruises to his poor side he did the last game because of it.

My first official game of Quidditch. Not the most ideal weather, but alas the match must go on and the players have to just suck it up. The weather did not improve the slightest from this morning. I listened to the sound of rain tapping on the ceiling of the locker room. I didn't hear Pax's words of encouragement or if anybody else said anything back in the locker room. My mind was elsewhere. What do I do? What's going to happen?

My hearted pounded as I stepped out onto the pitch. The rained poured down. I brushed my wet hair out of my eyes and mounted my broom.

Niamh sighed as she looked up at the sky. Although a bit of rain was normally not an issue for the girl's flying adventures, rain during Quidditch she acknowledged would not be ideal. As a keeper, her position relied on having good visibility of where the other players and quaffle were at any given moment.

The Gryffindor keeper mounted her broom, flying up to her strategized position as they had decided in the locker room prior. Her gaze was focused on the game, fully ready to play. She was so ready!

Oogie was pumped, but equally frustrated that she would be sitting on a bench while others would get to have all the fun. She was much better suited being up there in the air with the rest of the lot. Scoot over," she grumbled and dropped herself between Erlea and another kid (@Aodhan Shaw). 'Her' Firebolt found its place still in her grip, ready to jump into the game so that she may wreak havoc. Her mane of unruly hair exploded out around her, quite possibly taking up more space than she herself did. Her jersey uniquely different from those of her team mates, her robe sported the number '00' and the rest of her first name, unlike the boring options the other's had picked. She hoped their lack of creativity and the boringness they seemed to display would not affect their game play; though it might get her into the air quicker so that she could make up for things. She certainly would not say no to being allowed to knock someone out of the air mid flight. "Who do you reckon will drop first?", she asked amongst her benched team mates.
