And Who Might You Be? PV Amanda Sparrow Cl

When Amanda asked about the other people Katherine felt her head start to spin. Remembering them made her head throb in pain and sorrow.
"Just another life that I changed when I fell down a waterfall," she said very casually. Katherine didn't want to talk about her friend if she wasn't here, it felt wrong. And even though Katherine knew that her friend wasn't dead, it felt like it because she hadn't seen her for a while. She just wanted to see her again. She was so excited because her other friend had made contact with her a few days before.
"It doesn't matter. What's been going on with you Amanda? I've missed being able to talk with someone who shares my past."
Katherine smiled at the thought of being able to make friends again without the fear of losing them to her constant weird memory lose she still suffered from because of the brain damage. But Amanda would understand that. She would get that Katherine might be forgetful, but she will never stop being a good friend because of it unless she absolutely had to.
"I've been having fun in the castle so far. What about you? It's sort of confusing here but it's better than nothing right?"

Amanda smiled, overjoyed to be reunited with her friends again. Sure, Katherine might not remember all the fun that they had had when they were younger, but that didn’t change a thing. They were still friends and no amount of memory loss could make things different. Amanda felt relieved to have found a familiar face in this large castle. Even though Amanda was usually loud and outgoing, she sometimes could be very quiet and reserved, like a timid mouse. It was almost as if she had two different sides to her.

“I haven’t been up to much,” Amanda replied to Katherine. “We moved to England this past summer in order to be closer to family and school. I really like it here at Hogwarts. It was a little nerve wracking at first, being in a humongous castle with a bunch of people I don’t know. But things got better when I met a few people and made some friends. It honestly feels like my second home now. I mean, I did spend most of the summer here, with summer camp and a history trip and all of that. It was so much fun, though. Anyways, enough about me. What’s new with you?”

"Even if I could remember what I did this summer I doubt it would be very interesting. I remember reading to my cat by the pond if that is something even remotely interesting." She smiled at the memory of reading her long and confusing fantasy books to her cat. He always listens so intently and Katherine felt like he could almost understand what she was saying. Or he just understood that she was lonely and needed someone to talk to. Katherine groaned, remembering something that had gotten on her nerves when she came to the castle. She leaned in to talk quietly to her friend.
"I can't charge my MP3 player here, there are not outlets." Katherine chuckled. She thought it was funny that the purebloods didn't know how to use technology. It was the best part of life and they didn't know how to use it. Katherine's mother had told her about how her father had never understood what an elevator was and he insisted on apparating upstairs instead.

"Okay, funny story. You remember when we used to hang out and I would ask you to play on my x-box and I had to teach you how to use the controller because you didn't know how it worked? Well, my dad has the same problem every time he comes to see my mom because she always insists they go to this really fancy restaurant but he doesn't like the fact that the muggles have elevators that aren't magic and it makes him super nervous so he just apparates upstairs instead."

Amanda smiled when her friend mentioned Muggle technology. “That’s the one drawback about this place: no Muggle things allowed. Especially not electronics. I miss listening to my music.” Then her friend brought up the Xbox and Amanda laughed. “Oh my gosh, yes! The Xbox! That was when we had just started living among Muggles. Afterwards, I begged my mom to let me have one. She finally got me one for my birthday last year.” Amanda listened to Katherine’s story and giggled. “My dad didn’t allow us to have a television for a while because he thought that there were mini Muggles watching us from inside the TV. My mom finally convinced him that there weren’t really little people in the TV and so we got one.”

Talking about electronics jogged Amanda’s memory, and she recalled a conversation she had had with a very bright first year. “Oh! I was talking to this other Ravenclaw at one point and we were discussing how there should be some sort of Wizarding internet and that Hogwarts should have a computer lab. That way, nobody could accuse the school of using Muggle items and everyone in the Wizarding community could use the internet. Wouldn’t that be awesome?”

My dad told my mom that she had a large, purring, metallic, bear in our driveway the first time he saw the car." Katherine felt free to talk about her father with Amanda. She understood that her father was never there to teach her how to use magic and understand magic slang and such. She understood that he wasn't allowed in conversation unless Katherine put him in the conversation. Katherine wished she wasn't so delicate about her father but even the thought of him got on her nerves. The few times she had seen her he was idiotic and jerkish. Katherine wished he would disappear. She only put up with him because her mother loved him still even though he was never there. Every time she started talking about him you could see the sparkle in her eyes like she was still blown away by the clutz. Katherine was even hesitant about coming to the school because someone might recognize her last name as the name of the auror who slew ten werewolves in a cave alone. Katherine just thought it was a way for him to hit something and prove that he was manly so that people would fall over him. It disgusted Katherine.

"Oml. We should get a computer lab. That would be so cool. We should make a pole for that or something."
