Amanda smiled at the other girl’s enthusiasm. “I’m in Ravenclaw. Hufflepuff is okay, I guess. Their Head of House is a little scary.” He was more than a little scary, but Amanda decided not to scare Ruth too much. “As for being excited, yeah, I guess you could say that I am. It feels weird not to be at the bottom of the totem pole anymore, figuratively speaking. Nothing really changes, except our classes are a little more advanced than the first year ones.” Amanda paused, allowing herself to take a breath in between. “Yes, as Ollivander would say, the wand chooses the wizard. If you fight someone, however, and you beat them, I believe that sometimes the wand will change its allegiance and you can use it. I’m not sure about that though.” Amanda furrowed her brow, trying to remember if she got the facts correct, but gave up after a minute or so. “It’s fine, you weren’t rambling. You’re just curious, and that’s perfectly normal.”

Amanda glanced at her wristwatch, checking to make sure that she didn’t have to go home yet. Okay good, I still have a couple hours left. “Just out of curiosity, who did you meet earlier?” Amanda didn’t know very many Hufflepuffs, but she was curious nonetheless.
