A bored trip to the lake Finished

I guess we ought to go back now,”

She watched as the boy brushed away his orange hair and exposed his dark eyes. Their eyes met and Odessa smiled at him. He seemed nervous when he spoke and it was kind of cute.

“But, um, I'll see you around, sometime, or something… I hope so, at least.”

Odessa blushed just a little and sighed. She turned, throwing one last rock into the lake and waiting to hear the *plop* sound that it makes. "I'm sure i'll see you around, I mean, I don't have many other friends to talk to anyways." she said. She meant what she said quite honestly. Other than the books that she read, she didn't really know many people. It was hard to find friends that she related to because she also was muggle-born and didn't really have much knowledge of the magic world. She looked at the boy one more time and said, "I really think you hair is pretty cool" a random thought and she realized quickly after how random it was and she blushed and kept going. "I mean..I wish I had a cool hair color too..er..would you mind walking back to the castle with me?" she finished with a sigh.

"I'm sure i'll see you around, I mean, I don't have many other friends to talk to anyways."

Avery looked back at her, his dark eyes filled with understanding. He didn't have any friends either. Not even back at his muggle school. It took him a moment to notice, but he couldn't help but focus on a specific part of her sentence. The word "other". He wondered if that meant she considered him to be a friend.

"I really think you hair is pretty cool"

Avery blinked, caught off guard by the sudden compliment. He attempted to mumble a thanks, his face turning red again as he touched his hair.

"I mean..I wish I had a cool hair color too..er..would you mind walking back to the castle with me?"

"Um... Okay, we can walk together. And... Your hair's nice too..." he mumbled nervously, biting his lip.

Avery began walking back to the castle next to Odessa, still slightly pink. "You also have really pretty eyes," he said, so quietly it was almost hard to hear. He bit his lip once again, looking away in embarrassment. He really meant it, though. In fact, he found her eyes to be beautiful, as well as unique. So much so that looking into them made him feel nervous.

Avery shuffled his feet, looking away into the distance, then turned back to Odessa. The atmosphere may have been calm, but his mind was not. He felt an uncomfortable unfamiliarity, yet he couldn't help but chalk it up to the excitement of meeting a new friend.

"Um... Okay, we can walk together. And... Your hair's nice too..." he mumbled nervously, biting his lip.

Odessa smiled a began to walk next to him. She was still chastising herself on her delivery of her compliment. "You just say it randomly like that, at least have some context before you go telling people they have cool hair" she told herself. She shook her head slightly as she walked. She looked back at the lake and how beautiful it looked and she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness that she had to go inside, but also happiness. She was happy to be at such a beautiful place learning how to be a witch.

"You also have really pretty eyes," he said

The boy's voice was barely audible when he spoke. Odessa only heard him because she was right next to him. She looked at him and smiled, "Thank you!" she said then she looked at the ground blushing slightly. She hadn't usually received more than one compliment from a boy back at home, let alone more than one. She wasn't exactly sure how to process the information. She did notice however how nervous the boy seemed to be when speaking to her, despite the compliments that he gave her. She wondered if maybe he was only saying nice things like she does sometimes, only because she doesn't like being mean to people. Or maybe he really did mean it and it made him nervous? As her mind began to ponder these things she shook her head again slightly. "You've just met him Odessa, you always overthink things. Of course he might be nervous because he doesn't know you" she thought to herself.

She realized that they had reached the castle already and she turned to face the boy. "Thank you so much for walking with me!" she said to him trying not to blush. "Sometimes I get a little scared walking back by myself. I suppose this is where we part ways" she said to him and looked at him.

"Thank you so much for walking with me!"

“It's no problem,” Avery replied, smiling. He felt his cheeks turn pink again. It really wasn't problem; in fact, he'd enjoyed the walk back to the castle with her.

"Sometimes I get a little scared walking back by myself. I suppose this is where we part ways."

Avery nodded, his dark eyes moving to look at the tall brown castle, of which he still had mixed feelings about. “Yeah, we should probably get back to our dormitories,” he agreed, biting his lip. He brushed a strand of his orange hair out of his face rather softly, enjoying the calm atmosphere.

“I'll see you again, though,” he said, giving her another smile; a warm, honest smile. He really did hope to see her again. He felt as if he'd made a friend today, one that he would want to talk to and hang out with more in the future. As far as he could remember, he hadn't really had any close friends, at least none that he talked with. But now he had someone that he felt good about, aside from his family. The thought of this made him feel a lot less alone at Hogwarts, and a little more excited for his first year of his new school. He continued smiling as he walked briskly back to his dorm.
