Aston didn't get a response from the girl before the dance and the music started again, he was a little disappointed that she didn't reply, but the gaps between the songs wasn't long anyway so he moved on. As the dance went on Aston discovered that he really does enjoy dancing, Though I'm sure I'll like it more if I was the one in control of how I dance. I need to find another chance to ask Kenzie to teach me.

The dance continued and Aston found that he quite likes the music, it was no Queen but it was nice. Moving to the beat and getting to see all the people having fun really got Aston to enjoy himself. Eventually the music ended and Aston remembered the whole ordeal with the mistletoe.

Even though he didn't get answer from the girl he was with last time he still figured out the deal with the ball as he watched the others. The people who ended up under the mistletoe are supposed to kiss! Aston wonders what he will do if he ended up under one, I suppose I will be fine with kissing someone, it's not like they will think I like them romantically or something. Apart from the mistletoe there were also candles, which seems to mean that you don't have to do anything, but he did see there were some candles that dripped wax onto the people under them! I really hope I don't end up under one of those, that'll suck, this is my only nice set of clothes!

When the song ended Aston was under a candle again, Nice, I got lucky! Across from him was a girl with short hair. Not too sure what to say Aston thought he should ask her if she's liking the ball so far so that's what he said. "Hi, are you having fun dancing?"

I smiled with relief as I got under a candle. The boy seemed nice, but I was really glad I didn't have to kiss him. "Yeah, I'm having a lot of fun. I'm so glad I'm not under the mistletoe. This candle doesn't seem to be melting either."

I looked around, wondering why I even signed up for this. I did not want to have to kiss someone, but it seemed increasingly likely that I would have to. This was going to be a disaster. The only reason I signed up for this was to have some non-wizard fun. But really, maybe I just wanted to have to kiss someone and maybe find a crush or something like that. School was boring and annoying, and home was even worse, everyone excited about the "wizard in the house". I hated it, and hoped that being here would help at least a little.

"So....how are you? Um....are you enjoying the dance as well?" This is so awkward! I really just wish the music could start playing again. I took a closer look at the boy, not really having much else to do. He had black hair and dark brown eyes, and he seemed to be thin considering the loose fitting look of his clothes. He looked to be a fun person, but I couldn't really see much else about him. Well, at least I didn't have to kiss anyone.

On cue to save her from embarrassment, a melody met Costanza’s ears again. She breathed a sigh of relief and let the dance take her across the floor. The partners she passed through met her with her eyes closed and her chest heaving as she tried to take deep breaths to control her heartbeat. Maybe she should have avoided tonight. Kissing, even hugging, wasn’t something that she was open to. But she only had herself to blame here.

The music ended once again and Costanza found herself in front of an unfamiliar face this time. Almost immediately, her eyes shot up and she almost shrieked out loud. The universe was really rooting for her to get some tonight. She would not oblige. Still, Costanza actually felt bad about leaving the last girl the way she did, even if she also left Costanza hanging. There had to be a way that was less mean.

She took a few moments to observe the girl before her. Nothing about her screamed Hogwarts. She must’ve been from another school which meant that Costanza could just do the same thing she did before and nothing would really come of it. She’d never see this girl again most likely. But she suddenly was not feeling very avoidant. Reaching forward with her left palm, Costanza offered a silent handshake.

Soon after being able to catch up with Ehsilat, the cheery music started back up and Kenzie was whisked away onto the dance floor yet again. A small part of her, very small, was a bit disappointed. She had been looking forward to dancing with Aston, well rather, teaching him to dance. The fast-paced tempo of the music, the constant switching of partners, and the spell that made everyone already know how to dance had put a wrench in their plans, but that didn't mean they couldn't have fun. And it was quite fun. Throughout the dancing, the sound of Kenzie's laughter echoed with the music. She felt as though she was in the kingdom dancing scene of one of her favorite Muggle films, Tangled. She kept scanning the crowd, looking for Aston. They were partnered a few times throughout the dance, but it was never long enough for a conversation.

Eventually, the music stopped. Everyone was standing with a new partner than before. Kenzie took a minute to catch her breath, smiling at the girl in front of her. "Hi there!" she said in between deep breaths. Her heart was beating rapidly in her chest, and her lungs were trying to keep up. She was slowly beginning to regret her choice of shoe, but now wasn't the time to think about such things. A sudden warm sensation on her shoulder startled her. She looked up to see where it had come from, only to see that 1. she was thankfully under a candle with this girl and therefore was spared the embarrassment of falling under mistletoe, and 2. this candle, in particular, was melting more rapidly than the others and she and this poor girl were caught in the drip zone.

"Oh!" she exclaimed, stepping out of the way before another drop of wax could land on her and potentially ruin her dress. Safe and sound, she brushed off her dress, fixed her hair, and smiled back at the girl in front of her. "You'd think with all the magic in this place, that our appearances could be spared," she let out a breathy chuckle. "I'm Kenzie! Are you enjoying the ball?"

Jamie knew she could dance well, and was appreciative of the fact that the other boy could tell. It was something she was proud of, her grace.

"Thanks, practice makes perfect." She chuckled. At least he had manners, something she'd noticed not all people had. Introducing himself as Casey he held out his hand, deciding to take it she gives him a firm handshake, something she'd been taught to do to give a subtle feeling of confidence towards the other person.

"Yeah, see you around." She said, smiling at him, wondering if they might be paired up again but not being able to dwell on it too long as she had been swept up in the next round of dances again.

Once again ending up with a few partners, some she immediately could tell were being helped through the motions due to the spell and other who had a natural talent for the dancing, but ending up with someone she once again didn't recognise. But who seemed on the verge of screaming as she looked up, following the others girls eye-line Jamie saw some mistletoe hanging which would typically mean a kiss.

Not being able to even go through her options the other girl was already holding out a hand, not introducing herself or saying anything for that matter. Deciding to match her energy Jamie takes her hand, not saying anything either, and shakes it maybe ever so slightly harder than might be considered polite.

She had no problem with the other girl not wanting to abide by the rules, to be honest Jamie didn't want to either, but the energy that Jamie was picking up with her action set her off, making Jamie want to win what she thought might turn into something she could possibly win. So she decided to shoot her a smile that could be interpreted as both polite or condensing depending on how you interpreted it.

MODERATION POST
Whilst Casey Stone slowly processes the fact that he landed under mistletoe with a boy, Aston Beckett talks to his partner; a girl across the dance floor speaks back to him, seemingly confused by the direction of his speech. (If you have an iNPC and PC in the same group, please make sure you know who you're paired with! I apologise for any confusion this may have caused.)

Costanza Jewelweed and Jamie Carville seem content to shake hands under the mistletoe (sure, that works!) and Kenzie Thatcher does her best to move out of the way of dripping wax as she talks. That's about it for this group, but I'm sure there's more to come in the future...

The music starts back up again, and the spell whisks everyone away to find a new partner... and by the time the violins fade out once more, each skilled dancer is paired with someone very new, in a situation that is either also new or vaguely familiar...

This event takes place, IC, on AUGUST 2.
Moderations will occur EVERY SATURDAY.

Basil Was getting annoyed. Was it his dancing pattern or was he just the most unlucky person alive. For the third time he looked up as the music stopped and found himself right underneath the misletoe. In front of him was a girl with short hair and glasses who he had never seen before.
"So-er... technically were supposed to kiss..." Basil said trailing off. He was't just going to "pucker up" for some random girl but maybe a quick kiss on the cheek. She was kind of cute after all.
"I don't really want to kiss you on the lips though so maybe just the cheek." Basil wondered why he had signed up for this. He didn't realize he would have been under the misletoe every time! Basil wished that he hadn't gotten stuck in this situation... again. Basil wondered how the girl would react to him kissing her. Basil fidgeted under the misletoe. Why couldn't he get a candle like a normal person? Basil looked around at other people before noticing someone way worse that he could have been paired with. Alice is here? I had better not get anything with her-and definetly not the misletoe! Basil thought. Making up his mind Basil quickly pecked the girl on the cheek.
"Er-I'm Basil by the way. Basil Murphy. Who are you?" He asked the girl.

Brookline was swept away in the song before she got a reply from the red haired boy, and she ended up under a candle with a girl with blonde hair. Exclaiming, the girl had jumped backward to avoid the dripping candle.

Brookline had let out a short laugh as well, nodding to the girl’s remark about the candle. The girl introduced herself after brushing her dress off and fixing her hair.
Plastering a smile on her face, Brookline tucked a brunette strand under her ear and replied, “Hi Kenzie! I’m Brookline! ”

Before she was able to respond to Kenzie’s question, Brookline was swept away when the sounds of beautiful music tuned up and started up again. Uh oh! Kenzie had disappeared completely in the masses of the dancing crowds.

Ugh, how long is gonna take? Brookline thought as she moved her body, waiting for the music to stop once again. When it did, she saw the green plant, and a dark haired boy. Oh my f- She shut off her train of thought before she completed the two words. She hadn’t had any idea how to respond to this.

Staring blankly at the mistletoe, she realized signing up for this game was a absolutely completely stupid mistake....

Minnie enjoyed dancing that round, having gotten lucky for once. The first time she had been under the mistletoe and stared at the other in shock. Now she was under the mistletoe again, this time with a boy who had flaming red hair. "Nuts. Well....Sorry about this I guess." She closed in, feeling like she was about to throw up. Screwing up her face, she pecked the boy on the cheek as she did him. As mildly cute as he was, it was still awful. "Hi. I'm Minnie Duke. It's nice to meet you." Now that the horrid part was over, they could have a nice conversation.

Wow this is awkward. And my luck is awful. I cannot believe I was under the mistletoe twice out of three times! I bet this is Basil's first time. Oh well, at least the kissing part is over. Why did I sign myself up for this? Now smiling slightly, but still feeling awkward, Minnie waited for the music to start again and for her to get swept back into dancing.

As she looked around the dance floor, she noticed that some of the candles were dripping wax, which was slightly worrying as she didn't want to get her shirt all covered in candle wax. Glad I'm not under those at least. But next round I probably will be. With that cheerful thought in mind, Minnie turned back to Basil and got ready to dance her luck again.

Upon hearing how the unfamiliar girl is indeed enjoying the ball Aston smiled at her, "I'm liking this, it's actually my first time dancing, never been to any balls before. I thought this was going to just be a normal ball, though I suppose that idea was wrong." As he finished the sentence the music started once more and Aston's feet started dancing again, leading him to a new person after another. Occasionally Aston meets Kenzie, or at least makes eye contact with her. I'd like to catch up with her, though it will be kinda awkward if we're under the mistletoe.

The music ended once more and Aston looked up before he checked who he was partnered with, where he expected a candle Aston only saw a mistletoe, Oh, I guess my luck has to ran out eventually. Aston looked and saw a girl who staring blankly at the mistletoe, Wow, it's that shocking for her? I mean kissing strangers is a tough ask. He thinks she's a fellow Ravenclaw, maybe he saw her at the common room before?

Aston gently taped her shoulder to try and get her attention, he said "Hi I'm Aston, I'm a Ravenclaw at Hogwarts, you are too right? I think I've seen you before. I take it you don't actually want to kiss me?" Aston chuckled a little at that last question, hoping that will let the girl know that it was not a serious question, more of a joke. Judging by what I have seen I don't think we actually need to kiss, people have gotten away with less, we can probably do that too.

"Will you be okay with a kiss on the hand? " Aston said while extending his right hand out so Brookline can easily place hers on top if she wants to. "All the gentleman in fantasy tales do that when meeting a lady." Ending his words, Aston hopes he seems nice and friendly.
