─────Alex was sitting in front of her mirror, trying to get her makeup done before Prat ran off to the opening feast by himself. She knew he'd be fine by himself, but she didn't trust him not to wreak havoc. He had been pestering her, asking her if she was ready over and over for the past ten minutes until finally, she was ready to go. "Yes Prat, oh my god. I'm ready," she said, stepping out of the tent. "Well let's g-," she was cut off as Prat grabbed her hand and dragged her to the buffet.
He finally stopped at the hot cocoa bar, "My dear friend," she said, attempting to catch her breath, "You must stop dragging me around like that," she pleaded. As they drank their hot chocolate, they watched what other students were doing in the activity areas. She was thankful for the short break because she knew Prat wasn't done dragging her around just yet.
As she had predicted, once the duo had finished their cocoa, it was right back to Alex getting dragged around. She wasn't going to complain, however. It was entertaining to watch as Prat's attention bounced between all the food stalls as he grabbed plates of everything.
Finally, just as Alex was beginning to get tired of running around, Prat decided he had enough food and the two of them walked over to a picnic table. It had just about enough room for six people. The pair sat down next to each other and Prat told her that they should hold the table until the rest of their tentmates got there. Alex nodded in agreement, too tired to say anything.
Alex rested her head on Prat's shoulder and started eating some of the french fries he had on one of his plates. "You're a prick for making me run around the whole stadium. But these fries are really good so it was worth it," she said, eating another fry.

Colby waited for them to agree. They obviously had to agree. It was obvious that her idea was the best they got. Her eyes looked hopeful with a gleam of excitement to finally get that scarf. However, a few seconds later, her hope shattered.
Colby was not afraid to show her irritation to them. Her eyebrows creased and she let go of their arm to cross her own arms tightly. Their concern was that it wasn't safe? This person surely doesn't know how to be a kid and push the boundaries. They did, though, have an idea. She listened and then watched them take out their wand and state an enchantment. She had no idea what spell this was, but it was definitely helpful. "I'm certain that you're not a first year," she said, watching the scarf smoothly come off the neck of the snowman and cascade down into their reach.
"Show off," she scoffed with a small smirk. She grabbed the scarf and wrapped it around her shoulders. It covered her shoulders up to her elbows. While it wasn't perfect, it was something. Colby squinted her eyes and looked at the person and then back up at the snowman. The inanimate object had a large hat, too. She pointed up to it for them to see, "Well since you can do magic... that too," she added with a smile. She hoped that they would also get the other attire of the snowman for her.
Colby seemed it was appropriate, after their help to begin with, to introduce herself. "I'm Colby Vidler." Colby did not say what year she was going into. Perhaps it was obvious with the fact that she had no way of using magic the way they did. "Also, my idea would have worked if you would have just been open to it. But I guess you like to play things safe," she added, needing to share her perspective, but also the type to always start a debate.

july 15th, 2024 monday, afternoonwc: 550? dhampir | sensitive to sunlightinteracting with: @Emily Shephard always open for interactions :]WAHOO! Today was the first day of Summer Camp, yippee! Oh wow, Scout was so excited. She could spend a whole MONTH without her parents nagging her, without having to do school-work, AND she got to spend it with her friends? What a total package! Plus there were so many fun events and... yeah, she was hyped.
"Bye dad, bye 妈妈mama!" She yelled, sprinting away from them to join the other students around her. Her bag was... small, admittedly, she probably could've spent more time packing it, but she was too excited! Every time she would sit down in her room to pack, she'd get a fit of excitement and have to go run it off. Ah, worst case scenario her parents could just bring her another bag.
She already knew who some of her tentmates were. Emily, Elisa, Elizabeth... why were there so many names that started with E? Huh... well, at least her name started with S, and there was another girl in their tent named Ally so, like, as long as they teamed up together they could definitely out-power the E girls! Muaha!
Stepping onto the field- though she was kind of brushed away by the crowd- Scout almost held her breath at the sight before her. A stadium so big that she was sure she'd never seen anything like it- not in London and certainly not in Fengjing. Wahhh, it was so beautiful! Gorgeous and sparkly, is this what magic could do at its fullest potential? Now Scout wanted to actually try hard at school, if just to recreate such beauty before her.
And not just looks, there was so much food too, wow. Everything Scout had thought of before and more, she should pile her plate as high as possible to see if she could balance everything! Oh, wait, that was probably a bad idea, huh? Well... maybe it might be okay to pile her plate just a little high. There were a lot of people, so likely once the food was gone, it'd be gone.
Considering there was no need to sit with people assigned in the same house as her, Scout began looking. Eyes peering around the tables to find the one person she was looking for. Two, actually, but one was more important than the other. She was looking for Emily, but if she spotted Asteria, she'd probably abandon all plans and go sit with her cousin. If just to brag a little bit more about how Scout won their competition.
"Emi!" She called out once she had spotted her Hufflepuff buddy. "I'm so happy to see you!" Scout sat her plate down next to Emily's, and then hugged her friend very tightly. She missed Emily, it had been like... a month since Scout had last seen her! So much could happen in such a small amount of time, she wanted to know all of the details.
"So... how goes it? Did you do anything fun when we got out of Hogwarts?" Scout took note of the egregious amount of cheese on Emily's plate. "I... didn't actually do anything. Wait, no, me and my parents went out to celebrate my first year! And also um... yeah, that was it. No- wait, I also got sent some money from my family in China! Okay, yeah, I think that was it."
don't look at me; you can't understand, right? i'm just like a monstrous flower that bloomed too soon

Emily's ears immediately picked up like a dog when she heard that familiar voice. It was her. She knew it. She got up from her spot at the table and turned around, delightedly beyond explanation to see her Gryffindor buddy.
"Scout!" Her tone was bubbling with enthusiasm as she squeezed her buddy tightly in a hug. It hadn't been too long but to see her and embrace her so warmly was never not going to be a gratifying and enjoyable feeling. "You've no idea how excited I've been to see you again...!"
They both sat down again, Scout placing her food beside Emily's. Already Emily was engrossed in Scout's adventures in the time they had between the end of the school year and the start of camp. Huh... fifteen days really didn't feel that long in the grand scheme of things. She could see Scout eyeing her plate, no doubt taken aback by Emily's cheesy mountain. Emily was tempted to make a joke about "Would you like some dinner with your cheese?" but instead, Emily was smiling and nodding along to Scout's recap.
"At least you got to do something nice with your family!" She responded encouragingly. It was a far cry from Emily's time with her parents when she came home. She still cringed thinking about how her father walked past her like she wasn't even there when he and her mother came home. At least her mother tried, if still the lesser of the two evils.
"I can't say I've been up to too much either... Although I did have my first sleepover with two girls! Alliasta and River! Maybe you've seen them before? They're both lovely! And I met a boy from Ilvermorny! Don't know his name though... And he didn't want to be too friendly either..."
The other day bothered Emily too. She had never met someone so antagonistic before, so much so that the boy pushed her when she tried to be friendly. Maybe she was being a bit too curious about the photo he carried with him but still... pushing her? That was a bit much...
"Other than that, not much either on my end." Emily took another forkful of food, surprised she managed to find a meatball within her cheddar-rised plate. She tried to think of what else to say other than what happened the night before they all went home on the last day of the year. Emily was debating whether or not to tell Scout though, about what happened that night... She didn't want to give her buddy something to worry about, not when they were meant to be having a good time at camp.

OPENING FEAST | Ice Rink ──────────@Lemmy LaRue | open to interactions

| Once they had all picked a bed and unpacked, Alyssea decided to head out and see what the camp had to offer. One of their tentmates had left and she figured it wouldn't hurt to go out and see the opening festivities as well. As much as she hoped to particpate in all the activities, she knew herself; there would not be enough energy in her bones for every single activity after the crazy rollercoaster ride that had been Second Year. Becoming a Headliner reporter, a sports captain, and playing two different sports on top of trying to pass classes had thrown her in a loop. Summer camp would be for socialising with her tentmates and students from other schools, the occasional activity, and sleep. Lots of sleep. She shouldn't have been surprised when a whole ice rink had been prepared in the Quidditch stadium, however. For a winter-themed summer camp, it should've been expected, but she still didn't anticipate the school would prepare it. The way her jaw dropped, her feet turned, and grabbed her skates (that had been sitting at the bottom of her closet in the Hufflepuff dorms since that skating event in January) in minutes was almost insane. The rink was still quiet. Alyssea laced up her skates and gave them a tentative tap against the ice before gliding off. She felt her knees shake with unfamiliar fear as she stomped in circles and twisted her body to warm up. When she felt herself steady enough to go, she started a lap around the edge of the rink, reminding herself that while the wall would be a useful tool, she didn't need it. She had done this plenty times before, first with Pericles and then by herself. All Alyssea needed was a minute to figure out her body placement again. She then skated closer to a kid clinging desperately to the wall. When she could finally see their face, she recognized them as one of her tentmates for the summer. For a second, she could see herself in him: terrified and clinging to the wall, just as she did when she first started skating. How long ago was that? Two years ago? How time flew. She was just about to enter Hogwarts then, and she had been trying to hide it from Pericles. The surprise she had when they were both Hogwarts students permanently changed something in her brain chemistry. Alyssea gave him a small smile. "Hey, Lemmy, right? From my tent? Alyssea Brown, if I didn't remember to introduce myself," she chuckled, "First time skating? The ice feels weird the first time you do it, doesn't it?" It felt weird months after having been away from the ice, too. Ice skating was the kind of hobby you got better at as you kept doing it, not by letting it sit and collect dust. Alyssea pushed herself to face him by the wall. How did Pericles help her again? The memory was somewhat foggy. "If you want, I could teach you. I mean, I haven't been skating for a while but I can do some laps!" |

Interacting with @Colby Vidler Date - 15/07/24 WC 594/200 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts Looking back over to the girl Mylo could see what he thought was annoyance on her face, it was something they'd seen often and weren't too fond of but maybe they were just seeing it wrong and it was something completely different, so they decided to ignore it and focus on other things like getting the girl warmed up. As they had heard her making a correct assumption about them not being a first year Mylo wondered if she was one, her first thought hadn't been magic to solve the problem and she looked around his age which made them think she was a first year. It would make sense.
She ignored their question about having other clothes to change into but did pick up the scarf which Mylo was glad with, he was sure the organisers wouldn't mind them using it to warm people up and if they put it back later. As Mylo thought about if she actually had any other clothes he noticed the girl looking back and forth between them and the snowman, and then another demand coming their way. It definitely felt like a demand as there was no please or thank you in sight, and although there was a smile in there it irked Mylo as he found it quite rude, which he tried his best not to let show on their face a small grimace being visible if you looked close enough though.
"Uhm, sure. I do really recommend you change into some warmer clothes or maybe seeing if the organisers have some jackets and such spare as this won't be able to keep you as warm as layers would. Also you do need to put them back here or give them to the organisers when you're done with them, feel free to come and find me and I'll gladly put them back for you. I'm Mylo Atkins, second year Ravenclaw, so that should help you find me if you need to." He added floating the big hat down, hoping that the girl would cooperate and place the items back at a later date.
Introducing herself as Colby, Mylo was glad to know her name now as it meant that he didn't have to keep calling her 'the girl' in their head, she seemed to not be able to help herself but make another comment. Which Mylo didn't quite understand, her idea would have worked yes, but it was a lot more dangerous than just using magic and also he wasn't quite a big fan of random people standing on their back. And was there something wrong with playing it safe? They'd rather be safe and unhurt than careless and hurt. They had learnt magic for a reason.
Noticing they still had the hat in their hands, too preoccupied with Colby's comments, they handed it over to her. "I don't think there's anything wrong with playing it safe, and yes your idea might have worked but I don't like the idea of people standing on my back and especially not on top of another bench. You could actually quite seriously injure people by standing on their back wrong, and yourself if you lost balance and fell off." Noticing they had gone off on a tangent they got nervous, not wanting her to think of them as rude or anything, although he stood by what they said, but also not a big fan of confrontations which they had the feeling this might become.
Tapping their hand rhythmically on their thigh he hoped she wouldn't make any more demands.

Lemmy was not blessed in the height department of life, but fortunately the skates added enough to his stature so that he could grip the top of the wall. The attendee had done a good job lacing his skate boots as they supported his ankles just fine, yet that didn’t stop his legs from shaking back and forth as he tried to find a balance on the blades. This did nothing to dampen his spirits though, even if the threat of a sore rear end was weighing on his shoulders, as the new challenge was quite exciting. He had witnessed people flying across the ice before. It was always like clouds drifting quickly across the blue sky as it all seemed quite effortless. A bit of his naivety showing through as perhaps he expected to be better at it right away, but he would not be deterred by it. Even if it took the rest of the evening, little Lemmy was determined to glide.
The ice gods must have pitied the boy and chose to grace some favor his way as an almost familiar voice caught his pointy ears. “Oh! Hello, Alyssea! Yes, it’s me from the tent.” Lemmy’s voice was full of excitement as his new tent friend had come along. He did his best to look over his shoulder to her and reciprocate the warm smile, but every shift in movement brought another desperate grab at the wall as his balance threatened to fail. “Oh my!…Oh boy!…” Each potential slip brought a mix of excitement and fear to his lips. “Ha! Yes, first time indeed. The ice is rather weird. Very slick…very wobbly…woah!” The boy nearly fell again, but her offer to aid him brought a newfound confidence. “Oh! Really! How wonderful for you to offer. I’m afraid I’ll need quite the helping hand as I’m in quite the pickle.” His precarious spot did not stop him from giggling at himself. Grandpa Larluff always said not to take ourselves too seriously! Why start now. “I would love your advice. Yes, thank you! Umm, perhaps you could advise me on how to let go of this wall? I’m afraid I’ll fall down if I do.”

Rachel stood at the entrance of the stadium, her heart pounding with excitement. The sight before her looked like it came from one of the many muggle Christmas movies she would watch with her family. It was a wintry wonderland, adorned with shimmering snowflakes and bustling with students from around the world.
She tugged at the sleeves of her warm sweater, feeling a rush of warmth despite the cold. The arrival at the summer camp had been a whirlwind of activity, from registering and receiving her tent assignment to walking about the camp observing magic performed by students and faculty.
Rachel's bright blue eyes sparkled as she took in the three long wooden tables laden with food. Magic would never cease to amaze her. The tables groaned under the weight of dishes and Rachel's mouth watered at the sight of steaming pies, golden pastries, and exotic dishes she had never seen before.
Her excitement doubled at the sight of the grand hot cocoa bar. Rachel adored hot cocoa, especially with marshmallows and a sprinkle of cinnamon. She could already imagine the rich, creamy taste warming her from the inside out.
As she moved through the crowd, Rachel's unruly dark hair bounced with each step. She felt a pang of nervousness but quickly shook it off. She was determined to make the most of this experience, meet new friends, and try as many new things as possible.
Spotting an empty picnic table near the ice-skating rink, Rachel made her way over, her feet crunching in the snow. The rink was already filled with students, some gracefully gliding across the ice while others clung to the edges.
Before heading to the rink, Rachel decided to return to where the rows of food waited and grabbed a plate of food. She filled it with a selection of dishes, ensuring she had a little bit of everything to taste. Balancing her plate, she carefully carried it to the picnic table and took a seat. The atmosphere was filled with chatter and laughter, the sound of clinking plates, and the occasional delighted shout from the ice rink.
Rachel took a bite of a warm pastry, savoring the flavor. As she ate, she looked around, hoping to spot some familiar faces or perhaps make some new friends. The camp had only just begun, but Rachel could already feel the magic of it enveloping her, promising an unforgettable summer filled with adventures and new experiences.
As she observed the bustling activity, Rachel's attention was drawn to a smaller student who looked to be close to her age struggling to skate. The student wobbled precariously, holding on to the wall surrounding the rink like their life depended on it. She watched as another student, looking slightly older and seemingly more experienced, skated over to help, offering a steadying hand and some encouraging words.
Rachel watched intently, her curiosity piqued. She had never skated before, and the idea of stepping onto the ice both excited and intimidated her. Maybe I should give it a try later, she thought, after I finish my food. It looks like fun, and it's probably easier if someone helps you.
Rachel finished her pastry and headed to the hot cocoa station. She put together the perfect cup of hot coco and returned to the picnic table where she sipped her hot cocoa and perched herself on the table part of the picnic table so she could better observe the skaters. She savored the warmth that spread through her. She made a mental note to check out the biscuit-decorating station after she gathered enough courage to try skating. For now, watching and soaking in the atmosphere felt just right.

The chilly breeze was something unexpected when it comes to a summer camp. The same-old-clueless me was excited upon being a part of the Wintry summer camp as this would be my very first camping experience! I did know that this was supposed to be somewhat like Christmas, but mid-summer, so I was in my black woolen turtle neck and a beige coat and trouser set, and thankfully it was warm enough for me to survive this magical wintry camp. As I make my way into the camp grounds, an aroma of the delicacies displayed nearby on a set of three tables, almost bending under the weight of the food, hit me hard enough to immediately turn that way, pick a plate and be seated.
There were pies, and pastries! All kinds of meats and seafood, and at this point, screw the naming, I am digging!!!
I carefully selected some of everything, to make sure I wasn't to miss on any of the delicacies and sat at the table, indulging myself heartily. There was laughter and chatter and oh! A Hot-cocoa-bar! More sweets it is! I picked up my half-done plate and headed towards the bar counter and observed that there was as well a biscuit decorating counter near it! Oh, if this heaven, I am in Love!
It took me a considerable amount of time to be content with the food they had displayed and the cocoa and the biscuits. This camp is on to a marvelous start! I was excited about my tent, to be honest. I could hardly wait to meet up my tentmates at the Frost flower Meadow tent !
As I leave the feast area and make my way through the crowd, I hear another array of joyful air from somewhere nearby, and just then, my eyes fell on the ice-skating sink.
I know I am too full for this, but its ice!! Its snow! There can be a snow-ball-fight! Yeah, I am going in!
But as I headed towards the rink, I realized, I am too new here to recognize anyone to play with. Some seniors were skating around the rink while some others were having snowball-fights. I am usually an extroverted person, but it suddenly seems like a little introverted me is holding me back for a reason. Then again, I am quite full. I sigh, and decide to have a little rest before hitting the rink. I could spot the picnic benches near the rink and went straight to it. With a huff, I plopped down an empty seat, taking a deep breath and soaking it all in. The cool breeze, the exotic food I had, the sweet chocolates, hot cocoa, the beautiful rink, the playful air, everything felt as blissful as it was peaceful.
I can't wait to make some friends and enjoy this camp wholeheartedly.

The winter theme was a surprise for Guin. The Slytherin, who had mainly packed shorts, t-shirts, thin pants, and a bikini, was found gawking at the frosty trees, snow on the ground, and the (absolutely huge) rink in the center of the stadium, dreading the upcoming weeks having to wear the only actually warm fleece jacket she had bought on repeat. Talk about being an outfit repeater!!
Nevertheless, Guin loved the cold months (just not during the warm months). She usually spent her winter break at Hogwarts, except for that one time she went to visit her cousins in Seoul. She actually just got back from Seoul with her brother. Vacations to Korea also meant more frequent skating practice, since there wasn't really any room for practice when one attended boarding school while also actively participating in another sport. She honestly regretted not packing her skates, but obviously, how would she have known summer camp was winter themed? She wondered if her mom could owl her skates over or something, but for now, rental skates would have to do.
When the fourth year arrived at her tent, she recieved another shock. The interior was absolutely drop dead gorgeous, with all kinds of flowers and an atmosphere of warmth and relaxation, despite the cold outside. Taking in the sights, she found an unoccupied bed, placed her bags neatly on the floor next to it, and changed into parachute pants, a random sports jersey, and her said fleece to go out, have food off the buffet, maybe write that letter to her mom, and skate for a while. She could explore the tent later.
With that said, she noticed a vase near the entry of her tent, in which they were supposed to put a flower that they liked. Guin was torn between chosing a hibiscus, snapdragon, or tulip, but eventually decided on a red-ish snapdragon. She exited the tent, and walked to the tables where food was lined up. Food was never a bad idea, so she sat down at an empty spot at the tables with a cup of hot cocoa and a plateful of whatever looked good to her. When she was finished gobbling it all up, she debated going back for seconds, but one look at the quickly forming and reforming line and one look at the glittering rink told her which to choose.
At the entrance of the ice rink, rows of rental skates were lined up, and to Guin's surprise, she found that they were actually quite sturdy. Lacing them up as she was used to, she stepped onto the ice. It took a while to get used to her boots, but the feeling of being on the ice was familiar and welcoming. That was no surprise; she'd been skating since she was young. Most likely, if she tried, she could squeeze out an easy double, but that would probably also include knocking into a bunch of people and a wet pair of pants.
The girl settled for a few laps of just skating around and saying hi to whoever she recognized. The center of the ice was open, she noticed. Just enough for some spins, maybe. Guin did just that. Starting with a back scratch spin, she entered on her right foot, snapping into rotation with her arms in a Rippon position. The wind whipped her hair around, and she felt like a little girl again when she first learnt how to spin, and a laugh almost escaped her throat. She exited the spin, feeling slightly dizzy. The Slytherin tried a multitude of other spins she knew, like camels and sits and laybacks. Right then, it was just her and the rink and the loud atmosphere of summer camp entering the first nightfall.
