2023/24 Stage 3 Slytherin vs Ravenclaw: Match 7

His first round of any type of spell fight ever and Pyxis was already on fire. The Slytherin hoped that this wasn’t an omen for his stint in the wizarding world. He watched as the flames crept up his robes, then eyed the girl who targeted him. Did she just say sorry? Yeah, apologize to the guy you’re trying to burn to unconsciousness. There was no place for apologies in duels, but he supposed the thought wasn’t the most negative thing in the world, and certainly not as bad as his misplaced Knockback Jinx. He shook his head to get rid of all the unnecessary thoughts and came to a decision on his next move.

Hi all, there are slightly less than 11 hours remaining! I still need moves from the Slytherin team, and from Anthony!

Anthony's excitement almost evaporated immediately as he took a knockback jinx straight to the chest and flew across the stadium. This wasn't the first time he took a knockback jinx and it certainly didn't seem that Anthony would ever get used to it. "Yep, that hurt!" Anthony said as he steadied himself to his feet and trying to prepare himself for whatever would come next within thi duel.

The Ravenclaws had gotten the advantage with their early assault, and Pyxis's robes were still alight with flame. The Slytherin boy would feel it beginning to sear. Jake knew how hard it was to try to duel when you could feel the heat from a flaming robe. Perhaps that was why it happened...Pyxis would raise his wand and try to cast Mimblewimble at one of his opponents, only to find his own tongue tying! And to make things worse, that further distraction would lead to a knockback jinx from Tracey colliding with him!

The Slytherins were on the defensive for now, but then there was Draven...Draven clearly knew what he had to do.

Jake could tell that Draven hadn't quite been comfortable having to target one of the more innocent-looking kids, but Jake also knew, same as Draven did, that on the dueling platform you still had to play to win...and so another very well-aimed knockback jinx flew from Draven's wand. Inara would try to dodge in case any spells would target her, but Jake could see who Draven was aiming for. The spell flew towards Anthony who was still trying to recover from the first knockback spell. Though the boy tried to prepare himself for what was to come, the spell would collide once again, sending Anthony off of his feet, to the platform. He didn't get back up.

Jake winced, motioned for all to stop and watched closely to make sure the boy was taken to safety before anybody else could cast. Poor kid... The first years would surely be learning just how unforgiving the chamber could be...

Anthony was done. One minute he'd been trying to stumble to his feet, the next Draven's spell knocked him across the room. He didn't make it back up. Frustration raked its fingers through Draven's chest. Nobody had cast a spell at him. Nothing had come even close to hitting. Bloody hell.

Rolling his shoulders back, the Slytherin's gaze settled on the two opponents left. They were still doing pretty well, and both Lucian and Pyx had seen better days. Perhaps they'd be taken out before long, and Draven would be left to face the other two girls by himself.

Come on, he thought, readjusting his grip on his wand. Come on. Something. Anything.

Pyxis was having a terrible time. He knew that duels could be exhilarating and he would be lying if he wasn’t addicted to the feeling that came with casting spells. But right now, on fire, aching from a Knockback Jinx, and forcibly muted by his own hand, the wizard would rather be in the crowd. Still, he wasn’t the worst off in the bunch as one of the Ravenclaws was hit for a second time by Draven. The boy crumbled to the stage and Pyxis watched as he was carted off. Well, things could truly be worse.
