River turned to the girl who had just spoken, "Je suis Geraldine Lund, une... née-moldue"
A...muggleborn? River knew very little French from her mother's interest in the country for their culture and fashion, but she understood enough to get the general meaning of the Geraldine's words. River didn't really support the pureblood vs muggleborn agenda that had been prevalent in wizarding society, neither did her parents. Her and her family believed that magical power and knowledge made one strong, not their blood. "Everyone bleeds red Little Spring, never forget that when meeting someone new." River would always follow her mother's words. So she would respect and withhold judgement on the girl as long as she respected River and the magic they all had within them in return.

"Um, enchanté Geraldine Um, nice to meet you Geraldine," she spoke in hesistant French, hoping she had not made a fool of herself, "P-Puis-je en avoir, um, s’il vous plaît?M-M-May I have some, um, please?"

Deciding to continue in English, hoping that the girl understood her, she held out her basket of treats to the other First Year, "You could have some of my desserts as well, if you would like. They are quite delicious and I have plenty to share." River took a seat on the corner of the picnic blanket, fighting the feelings of being an intrusion. She looked at the other girls around her, having only seen some of them in passing before, and said, "That goes for the rest of you as well, you may help yourselves to whatever you would like."

Mia was excited and surprised that so many people had showed up for the picnic, but here they were, all seven girls brought something delishus for them all to share! She bit into a crispy Rosettbakkel, hoping she wasn't being rude as the girls talked amongst themselves. The truth was Mia wasn't as sociable as she was acting at the time. In fact she was usually a lot shyer. She used her hand to catch a few fallen crumbs and brushed of her hands. "Wow, River these are good! I've never had anything like it!". She smiled and offered the girl one of her cookies and sat back down. She smiled and waved when Minnie came over admiring her fudge frogs that seemed like they would melt in your mouth when you tried one. She said hello and introduced herself to each of the girls who came and tried some of the different foods and snacks as others are along also. I thought that Damion was coming, I guess not. She enjoyed the picnic and hopped that there were going to be more people coming soon. "Thanks for coming everybody." No one heard her but she said it, she didn't feel like she was supposed to do something but she felt like there was something missing.

A girl with short, brown hair picked up one of the rose cookies River had offered and took a bite, a small smile spreading over her lips at the taste, "Wow, River these are good! I've never had anything like it!" River smiled at the girl, who had introduced herself as Mia Fuzy and thanked everyone for coming, "Thank you Mia, they are a specialty of Norway, where many of my ancestors came from before they immigrated to England in the 18th century. My father made sure that I will uphold the culture and traditions of our homeland despite living in the UK, so I am quite used to the cuisine. Our house elves are even taught how to make some of our favourite dishes. Lilje, my nanny elf, makes a batch of all this every weekend so that I can have a little bit of home here at Hogwarts." River didn't quite know why she was so talkative to the quite Slytherin, but she had been trying to not slip under her indifferent mask as much now that she had been making more friends with the other First Years, these girls included if all went well. They all seemed nice enough to have as, at least, friendly acquaintances.

Mia was happy. She finaly seemed to be making some friends, and she was getting to try new foods from different places. She was glad she made this picnic. She decided to give out some cookies of hers hoping that everyone liked her cookies as mutch as she liked their sweets. After a few people got some cookies, she got a cup of tea from Geraldine and sniffed it. She never realy liked tea, it was allways too watery or hot, but when she tried this tea it changed her perception of tea forever. "Wow this is very good Geraldine! Whats in it. " She had a quisical look on her face as she sniffed the tea again. There is no way she made this, It's too good. "Do you want to be friends, I mean like, well, umm..." She decided to sit down before she made a fool of herself. As she sat down she bumped into her salad knocking it into the grass. She stood back up and looked at the salad that now had dirt all over it. She picked it up and threw it in the bushes, hopeing some squirls or something would eat it. She walked back to the blancket with her bowl tucked under her arm, brushed off her scirt and sat down.

Kaitlyn flushed lightly and smiled brightly, when she saw Minnie approach the group of girls outside, waving to her in greeting. “Hi Minnie!” She greeted her with an encouraging smile. “I’m glad to see you here,” she said, shyly. She glanced down at her feet, unsure of what to say in front of so many other girls, but also not wanting to impede the Hufflepuff’s potential to make friends. While she had a crush on the girl, she didn’t want to make things awkward by attempting to flirt. ‘I’ll have to try my best to behave.’

Hearing a few of the girls mention their blood status, Kaitlyn was very confused. ‘I get saying your name to introduce …. But why blood status? I don’t see a point in randomly announcing that. I’m not ashamed of being a muggleborn, but I’m also not going to shout it from the rooftops. There is so much more to me than just my blood,’ she thought. She smiled as some of the other girls were talking. Two that she recognized from her house were speaking … French? ‘I know some Spanish, but I’m not about to start speaking that … I’m likely woefully unprepared to speak to a fluent Spanish speaker, anyway.’

Kaitlyn went to grab a plate and smiled to the gathering of girls. “A-all of this looks delicious, I’m g-glad we can come together for t-this,” she said to them, feeling braver to talk due to the cute Hufflepuff in attendance. Her voice was still quiet, however. “Thank you for t-throwing this gathering,” she continued, politely, as she took a plate and placed a croissant and some cookies. She also poured herself a cup of Geraldine’s tea.

Reyna had heard that there was going to be a small picnic around from her bestie Linda. So because of this, Reyna found herself out in the courtyard on this nice sunny day.
She had brought plenty of food. As she had learned to bake over the summer, she baked some cupcakes. In addition she had brought a fruit salad, and some smoothies in her bag. But the cupcakes were her main addition.
April seemed to be a better month for Reyna as she had found herself being mor social in this nice weather. Maybe it was the warmth that gave her the courage or something. She was not exactly sure.
Instead of studying or cooping herself in her dorm, she found herself enjoying the sunshine in picnics like these that she had done before. Before her winter hibernation.
That was a good name for it. She sighed. It seemed that the picnic had started a little while ago so it felt weird to intrude. She hovered over the girls for a few seconds. Then she waved. She didn’t know most of them as they were first years. But she knew Linda of course. And then there was Linda’s sister. Who she surprisingly had not met before.
“Hi! I’m Reyna Evergreen, second year Hufflepuff! Can I join you guys? I brought food and drinks!” I said. There she had done it. I sat down next to Linda and set down my food. The rest of the food looked really good and I was excited for this.
