River watched Anthony as he pondered her words, a slash of sympathy cutting at her as she noticed the sheen of tears entered his amber eyes. He seemed deep in thought, perhaps reminiscing something she was unaware of. Perhaps he had his own experience with death, she thought as the image of Sylvie's death passed her vision behind closed eyelids. Not realising she had closed them; she opened her eyes in time to see the Ravenclaw boy hurriedly rub at his eyes. "Sorry, um to answer your question, my interest in Ancient Runes is relatively recent. However, yes I've been studying them for a little bit and have grown a mild interest in them. I am excited to see what we might learn in the Study for Ancient Runes class as third years."

As Anthony gazed out of the library's windows, he let out a quiet exclamation at how late, or well early, it already was. He quickly stepped from the room, leaving River and Lin to themselves. Taking out her ornate pocket watch, the same one covered in Norse runes that Lin had seen her check not too long ago. Letting out a muttered Norwegian curse, River stood up from her chair and sent an apologetic look towards her friend. "I need to leave now as well, I'm afraid if we don't leave now we shall be caught outside after curfew. See you later, Lin!" After sending the Gryffindor a small smile and a wave, the Slytherin made her way out of the winding paths of the library and made her way back towards the Slytherin Common Room. It wouldn't do if she were to be caught by a prefect or teacher, now would it?

She smiled slightly to herself as she thought of the Ravenclaw boy she had met.

A new friend perhaps?

Malin waved goodbye to the pair as they hurried away to their respective common rooms. Sure, she should have been in her own common room by now, but she had no issues and was, in fact, rather skilled at sneaking around after curfew.
Let's just say sneaking around this night was not her first time doing so.
As she strode on quiet feet out of the library, she thought about the conversation she had only barely been part of --not that she minded, of course, she was rather intrigued at watching the Ravenclaw and Slytherin interact with one another. She found it so very adorable how River's mother and father had cared about her so much, that they carved her a ring before they sent her to the magical school of Hogwarts.
She turned a corner, careful to make sure there were no sounds of professors anywhere as she continued her thought.
Personally, her parents would have never done something like that, as her father left when she was six and her mother was busy working two jobs to keep her family afloat.
Malin didn't mind, though. She was happy where she was, and perhaps she now had a friend in Anthony!

"She's delightfully chaotic; A beautiful mess."
