Flood

Shortly after being sorted into Ravenclaw, James glances over the tables in the large hall that stood before him. He spotted a table with only three people at it, three people he didn't recognize. With a brown, leather sack that had a strap that ran from his right shoulder to his hip littered with notebooks potion equipment, journals, and various other school supplies, he approached the table while simultaneously gazing upon the beauty of the room. The candles suspended in mid air were amazing, and he had never seen anything like it before. Just the mere sight of the food made his mouth water with hunger and a desire to eat. James, clutching onto the strap of his bag, sat down at one of the benches of the table and pulled out one of his many journals & a quill then laying them on the surface of the table before reaching his hand out to greet one of the three girls sitting at the exact same table as him. They appeared to be wearing ravenclaw colors, but he couldn't tell for sure. "Hi I'm James, you?" He said, trying to be polite and make a good first impression. He had a large smile on his face, trying to appear as polite as possible. 

"Hello. I am Yuki Northcott! It's a pleasure to meet you James. This black haired girl is Alexandra." Yuki said to the nice boy who came over. "So, are you into a certain kind of book?" Yuki asked James.

Alexandra averted her eyes away from her book and turned to a boy who had laid out his school supplies, journals, books, and a quill. She recognized the boy, he was in Ravenclaw like herself and Yuki. "Hi I'm James, you?" he said, reaching out his hand. She closed her book and looked at James. Alexandra was about to introduce herself, but Yuki beat her to it. "Hello. I am Yuki Northcott! It's a pleasure to meet you, James. This black haired girl is Alexandra." 

Alexandra rolled her green and blue eyes. Honestly, I can speak for myself. I'm not mute for goodness gracious! Alexandra pulled her burgundy scarf closer, covering her birthmark that is near the left corner of her lip, and opened her book, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'. She was starting to get hungry, so she took some corn and chicken, and started to eat. "Wow, this is really good!" her eyes lit up.

Yuki knew that Alexandra was mad at her, because that was exactly what she wanted. Yuki and Alexandra have been rivals since they were young. They were always fight at who was better at something, even who was a better peanut butter spreader. "So, what are you having for lunch Alexandra, because I have a full meal of steak and veggies." Yuki smirked at Alexandra. "I win for the better lunch round, HA!" Yuki said to Alexandra.

"Not really." James replied, before thinking about the question. "Well, I do like books about creatures and things. I find animals really fascinating, both in the wizarding and non-wizarding worlds." He added. Considering the first and only book he read over the summer was Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, he was pretty certain that what he said was a good answer to Yuki's question. He looked over at the book Alexandra was reading, and recognized it almost immediately. "Oh! That book! I read it over the summer. It's quite interesting, really." He said, trying to strike up conversation with the other girl. He wrote down a few notes about the people he had seen, using his left arm to cover up the pages of his journal so that Alexandra and Yuki wouldn't notice his lack of knowledge about the wizarding world. He eventually put the leather journal back into his bag, along with the quill he was using to write in it. He gazed at the plates, but had already eaten earlier that day, so decided not to eat the food, as he didn't want to get stomach pains, especially since these were new people he had never met before this moment.

"Really? Yeah I'm only like 1/3 of a way through this book, but I am learning a lot. I really like this school so far, I also really like Raven Claw." Yuki said to James with a big smile.

Alexandra was ready to punch Yuki in the gut because of her rude remarks. She got pulled out of her thoughts once she heard, "Oh! That book! I read it over the summer. It's quite interesting, really." James said to her. Alexandra nodded simply and replied, "Yes, it is truly a good book. Animals can be beautiful creatures. I do have a fascination with dragons though. I do hope to become a dragonologist, but that's just me."

Alexandra had a spot in her heart for dragons, mainly because of the tales she's heard of them. Alexandra loves fairytales even though she knows they're probably not real. Her favorite genre was definitely fantasy, you could create your own rules of the world, and make your own species. Dragons are covered in scales with big, leathery wings, and are big creatures that can breathe fire, that's cool. She likes phoenixes too, but not as much as dragons.

She elbowed Yuki in the gut as well, making an if-you-make-a-contest-with-food-involved-I'll-murder-you, type of look. "Also, Yuki, you are aware that the table is full of food right? So there's really no need to bring lunch." she directed to Yuki, taking a big bite out of some corn. 

The rules are really for a 200 word count post as defined in the letter you got when you joined the site as well as defined in the rules posted by the presently recognized administration in the Head of House (HOH) area. Please edit your posts to reflect this. If you are looking for a dialogue-based interaction there is a staff-created flood topic in the Leaky Cauldron I encourage you to engage in. In addition, there are some OC topics where the 200 WC is not required (you will see them marked as discussion topics commonly rather than RP topics). 

"Well, Alexandra I like bringing my own lunch on the first few days of school, ok." Yuki said back to Alexandra. (Also I don't care about the 200 words rule Erin, and by the way I don't think your doing the rule either. And Your not an admin or teacher or etc. And maybe I will try it.)

"Yeah, me too. Hogwarts is really interesting, and so is Ravenclaw. Or, at least what I've seen of it." James replied, smiling back at Yuki. He then decided to eat, and grabbed what looked like a piece of chicken. "So, is their any other things interesting about this place? Beside the whole wizard school thing, of course." James asked, curious since he had no knowledge about this school before arriving. ((How are you supposed to right two hundred words about something dialogue based in a SINGLE ROOM that is mostly up to a person's interpretation without saying something that's redundant and or pointless?))
