The two went back to their compartment, weaving through the many students who were in line to change. Matilde was glad they decided to change when they did, the line was getting very long. Sitting back on her seat, she pulled her knees up to her stomach. With Hogwarts rapidly approaching, she was beginning to feel nervous again. Talking with Maddie had taken her mind off how huge this was. She was leaving the only home she’d ever known to go live at a bleeding castle. She didn’t have a single friend going with her. She had her brother, but he’d be hanging out with his friends in any free time he had in his busy fifth year life. She started to feel a little short of breath, and panicky. Anxiety was not something Tilly had really experienced, she hadn’t had much reason to be nervous in her homeschooled, farm-girl life. She took a deep breath in, attempting to calm her nerves. I will not panic, she thought to her herself. I refuse. This could be so much worse. She imagined how the muggleborns must be feeling. She imagined how much more scared she would be if she hadn’t even known about magic until now. She felt better after having put it into perspective.

She smiled at Maddie. “I’m not sure if I’ve asked you. How are you feeling about starting Hogwarts?”
