Officially Unofficial: Ying vs. Maverick
Unfortunately for Fang, as for the paintings, Maverick did not even catch the words they all said. Nay, he did not even know whether their words were intended for him. What reached his ears were noises, but never words. His concentration was spent fully on the spells, both the ones Fang to him and the ones he sent to her. At the very moment, things did not look very good for the part-Veela, but he was not terribly bothered by this situation, and he was definitely still brave.
Just one thing was kind of missing, the dramatic part. There was no epic music in the background and no camera zooming in, but these were easily fixed in his mind. Inside Maverick's fantasy, all of the effects were played perfectly, as if this was a scene in an Academy Award-winning film. Sometimes the focus was on him, sometimes on Fang; and the suspenseful music was played all through the scene.
The only thing even his imagination could not gain an upper hand of was to make one of them, preferably Fang, being sent off their feet. It just did not seem like a real duel if neither party fell and got up again like a real hero (or their match).

So far her plan has worked pretty well. The golden bubbles had accomplished their purpose of making Castle's work to evade her spells a little harder. The young girl was now making a visible effort to not look too confident, keeping away from her face a smug smile that was forcing his way into her rosy lips. She was happy with her choices and results, but she was not one to underestimate her opponents. Specially Castle that was proving to be a great and challenging opponent.
"The legs!" was all her ears could pick up after Maverick's spell passed through her right side, missing its target due to pure luck and nothing more. A curse passed through her mind before she focused back on the duel. She would have to think about another strategy to continue. For now the golden bubbles were still in place, but wouldn't remain there forever.
"Don't distract my duellists, please." Pericles said to the excited portraits. Ying wouldn't blame them tho, being a portrait must be really boring! Stay there in those walls forever...the only entertainment they would have was probably witnessing young students duelling between each other. "Yeah! At least don't show your favoritism! Shame!" She said playfully, before aiming her wand again towards her teammate.

────────────────────────Ying and Pericles must have successfully deterred the portraits for a little while, because as the next volley of spells was swapped, they kept their commentary to quiet grumbles. Not that Maverick was distracted by it anyways: he sent a fireball hurtling towards his opponent, a solid Incendio if Peri ever saw one. However, Ying was ready for it. She dodged just in time to avoid the spell, though it was an incredibly narrow miss. The flame would hurtle by near enough that she could feel its heat as it passed. Their moderator watched it dissipate against the spell-absorbing walls, glancing back to narrowly avoid being hit himself.
There was something about Maverick that, for an instant, made him difficult to take aim at. Did Ying really want to damage the part-Veela? Evidently not in that moment, because her spell shot sideways, hurtling for the ref on the sidelines. The duellist moved instinctively. His wand, already in hand, swept out to cast a quick "Protego!" The Tarantallegra sizzled out against it. Heaving a short breath of relief, Peri turned his attention back to the stage. "Not sure how much help I'd be to you if I was dancing," he ribbed with a smile that said No harm done.

And once again it was too close! A surprised gasp escaped her lips at the same time as flying flames spread at her side. She quickly, and only by mere instinct, turned around just in time to see the jet of flames send a wave of hot wind into her face and almost set a strand of her hair on fire. A smile spread across her lips after the thread of flames extinguished against the wall.
Not wanting to lose precious time, -the bubbles wouldn't hold him forever- Ying immediately aimed her wand at Maverick. But what happened in that last split second was yet to be discovered. It was like a momentary feeling of weakness of will. It happened so fast that she found herself unable to rationalize and take control of it, she just couldn't...no, she didn't want to hurt Castle! A moment of panic and then, with a flick of her wrist, she deflected the spell at Peri instead of the first intended target. Fortunately it was like the silver-haired Ravenclaw was already expecting something like that to happen and a quick and perfect "protego" prevented Ying's spell from hitting him. "I...sorry!" Ying said to Peri, feeling surprised and confused, "The hell was that?" She asked in almost a whisper looking at Maverick.
