The History of Magic, Victor knew this book well, he had already thrown it across the common room in frustration when he found he didn't understand some of the words, he spend hours trying to find a dictionary in the Library before one of the older students gave him one, and then proceeded to point out there was a glossary at the back of the book, which enraged him even more. He took it from her, with more joy than he felt towards the object. First Year, Ravenclaw He answered her glancing up. Hufflepuff eh? Surprising, he thought of them as more outgoing....or maybe that was the Gryffindors? Wait...the Snakes could be fairly outspoken too. He sighed, maybe the house one ends up in isn't a reflection of personality as much as he thought it was. How are you finding school? I mean, aside from the homework and the classes. He wondered what she would be like angry, a strange thing to think, even he was surprised, but apparently Hufflepuffs were known to be very accepting and kind, something that hid a vicious temper if provoked. So he couldn't help but wonder about the anathema in front of him, what would provoke her? It was not an experiment he was willing to run, he didn't want to know the answer that badly and he suspected making off with her book wouldn't earn him points, being unkind probably wasn't the way to go either. So his bumbling attempts at conversation were probably more amusing to her, if they registered, than annoying. That was good to know, if he was right of course.
He spotted a ghost of smile on her face, one that vanished as quick as it came. Do you think there are people who live in the Lake? he said, returning his attention to the black, foreboding waters that lay beyond the trees I've heard some of the older students talking about it, wonder if its true. Victor was well aware the transition from houses to possible lake dwellers was not a subtle move but his mind was in chaos, maybe it would be easier if he just left and took a moment to collect his thoughts.
And then what? Come back? Good one. It isn't though she is going to hang around for him to figure himself out, that isn't something people do. No, He'd have to adapt and just go with it. Maybe he'd surprise himself, maybe he'd crash and burn, who knew? What he did was that running away wasn't going to solve the problem, people talk and if he wanted to know how to interact with people what better way than to actually interact with someone?

Grasping her Charms book once more Helena relaxed softly. The outdoors were always relaxing and peaceful. The soft almost frigid breeze from the murky great lake would roll off from the lake's edge upwards. The gentle chatter of many birds and mysterious creatures from the forbidden forest would echo across the vast lake. Giving a sweet dream like ambience.
As the clouds seemed to roll by gently giving the vast outdoors a cover from the sun's wrath. It was peaceful and dreamlike one would assume they could be dreaming.
Though Helena seemed to drift off in her thoughts. The young girl was pulled back when the young brunette haired boy beside her spoke up.
“Classes are fine. Hopefully they can be a bit more challenging soon.”
Helena spoke softly; her elegant poise tone seemed to drift gently among the duo. The soft gentle pickup of the fall breeze kicked Helena’s golden locks gently covering her vision slightly as the young girl pushed her stray locks behind her left ear gently. In the process she dropped her book gently on top of her lap.
The young golden haired girl turned her gaze gently towards Victor examining the brunette haired boy quietly. Calm sea blue eyes gazing into wispy gray eyes. Helena hummed softly when the boy spoke once again, knocking the girl out of her thoughts.
“I have heard Merpeople live inside the lake. Though I rather not mess with them they can be a tad protective I have heard. Also the giant squid…”
Helena spoke almost in a whisper. Her gaze went downwards as she picked her book back up and began studying once again. She felt it was best to continue studying. After all the weather was peaceful though the faint smell of rain wafted gently from the distance. Giving the lakeside a calming scent throughout the vast area.

Merpeople in the black lake, he turned his head toward the water, glaring it with suspicious eyes. How many lay beneath those murky waters? Were they violent? Or content to leave others alone? Whatever the answer, he certainly wasn't prepared to go swimming. What giant squid? He said with some degree of alarm. Merpeople aside, Hogwarts didn't seem all that safe suddenly, what the rules about not going into the forest because of various things in there, the Herbology greenhouses that contained possible poisonous and venomous plants, the Care of Magical Beasts that was almost certainly responsible for the establishment of a full blown Hospital Wing in the castle and now he's been told of some squid that hangs out in the lake.
What kind of hellish school was this?
You know...this place seems less safe than I originally thought...you'd think there would be more...I don't know, safety? He couldn't help but wonder at all the students who had passed through Hogwarts and whether someone had bothered to look at the numbers. If 700 Students started as first years, and 697 left seven years later....what happened to the other 3? He didn't want to know, maybe it was in the nature of magic that someone was going to get 'left behind' at some point, be it through incompetence or just plain old bad luck. Victor returned his attention to the book in his hand, if it was incompetence, all the more reason for him to double down and learn. He wasn't going to be left behind, and he refused to be a bumbling wreck if and when danger arose. No, he would learn how to be competent, learn how to be social and learn how to be a good student. Fear wasn't his master.
For all his determination however, he still couldn't help stealing glances at his new found companion seated opposite him. He was sure he was being subtle enough that she wouldn't notice, still he did have to remind himself not to stare...

⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅Helena grew a thoughtful expression. The golden haired girl pondered what the sterling gray eyed boy had asked. Helena has heard stories of Hogwarts and most definitely the school was not the safest place. But it was the best place to learn magic to defend oneself against the dangers that lurked in this cruel magical world.
Biting her lower lip gently Helena thought of a response as the boy seemed to question everything. From the giant squid to the safety of Hogwarts. Though the young girl may not have the answers to these questions she figured it would be best to answer the best of her abilities.
“The giant squid is rather harmless at least according to the older students. One may call it the protector of the lake. As for Hogwarts being safe or not… I suppose it does not seem very safe, but rest assured I am positive it is. Hogwarts is meant to be a place of teaching and learning. The only reason there is a medical wing so large is because the student body can be rather adventurous. Especially those dueling and swinging their fists around can be quiet chaotic…”
Helena spoke softly in an elegant poise tone. After all, with her short stay here during Hogwarts the girl can definitely agree that the student body seems to be a bit chaotic. There was a certain Hufflepuff boy Helena agreed mentally he was nothing but trouble short and angry that was him.
Not only that, the girl could not help but wonder why the student body always seemed a tad bit on edge the majority of the time.
Helena hummed softly, leaning gently back resting on the palm of her hands her book now resting gently in her lap, the young girl gazing upwards watching the clouds drift lazily by.
“Do you suppose it may rain? It looks as if it may rain. Be rather peaceful though if it did.”
Helena spoke softly, breaking the slowly growing silence around the duo. The golden haired girl's ears picked up to the gentle licking of the lakes shore while the chatter of the birds nearby seemed to drift by in a melancholy way between the duo.
A wonderful serenity of peace. It was something that Helena enjoyed quite well, just something peaceful and serene not much could break the silence honestly. Glancing slightly over to the gray eyed boy Helena awaited a response though she was in no rush after all she understood how hard it was to speak to people always seemed like a struggle for the girl. So she understood the boy seemed similar in that aspect.

He hadn't even thought of the dueling clubs, or the quidditch or even the general happenings of the student body, now that she mentioned them he had to admit they were chaotic, maybe that was children but he wasn't to know. Her question surprised him, he never really thought of rain as being peaceful, just wet. He looked to the sky, marvelling at how breathtaking the dark storm clouds looked I think it might Nothing had fallen, not yet anyway, but the world was still, almost frozen in time, the great hush before the storm unleashed her fury perhaps? For now however, mother nature seemed contented to watch the two young students beneath the trees chat away to one another, in spite of their obvious ineptitude at communication.
It was because of this stillness Victor swore he saw her ears prick up as she looked around, not unlike a cats and he wondered to himself briefly if she was able to turn into one. Such a curious thought that made him wonder about her greatly in most respects, funny how quick she was to sit with him, talk with him and share her books with him and yet he knew nothing about her at all. He caught himself staring again, his eyes had narrowed and his head cocked to the side once more, he was in the middle of examining her without even realizing it, it took the soft rumble of thunder from across the lake to bring him back to his senses. You seem very...different, if you don't mind my saying so. He said without much of a plan to follow that statement, he wondered if it wouldn't be better to allow the girl to read in peace and he could meld back into the shadows of the forest and of the castle without fear of running into her again. Very...quiet but...hm...I'm not sure where I was going with that.

⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅Staring upwards sea blue eyes examining the darkening sky. Helena agreed with Victor it seemed as if mother nature herself may burst into tears to water the ground below.
Helena was quite wondering what to do or to say. The feeling of the wind seemed to pick up slightly. It would be a shame if the duo got caught in the rain. Helena did not mind the rain, but she would rather not get soaked to the bone if a torrential downpour began.
The young girl listened quietly to Victor, though it caught her off guard when he spoke about her being different. Was she really that different? Helena gazed softly towards Victor raising her eyebrow slightly. As a gentle breeze nipped the girls face making her blonde locks flutter about.
“I suppose being different is good. Rather not be like everyone else that would be boring. It is better to be different. But I understand you seem rather different as well, but in a good way.”
The golden haired girl spoke softly, smiling shyly towards the boy. Helena gazed upwards wondering what to do or even thinking of what she should do next. The young girl played with her hands wondering what would be a good thing to try to talk about.
Afterall Helena could feel the gentle breeze pick up as the rustle of the frigid wind burned the young girls slightly. Sea blue eyes staring up at the dark murky clouds above. As if the clouds seemed ready to downpour slightly.
The slight rumble of thunder seemed to echo from the distance. Making the young girls head snap towards the direction the rumble came from. Birds seemed to flock about preparing as if a storm actually was about to come along.
The golden haired girl thought softly to herself as she began to stand up dusting the dirt off her school uniform. Helena gazed over to Victor smiling softly after all it would be best to leave before it began to storm would it not?
“I believe that is our cue to go inside do you not think?
Speaking softly Helena smiled softly towards the boy. Awaiting for his response. The young girl figured after all they could head back up to the castle together or possibly separate she did not mind either way.

Yes He said standing up as well, the chill in the air now becoming somewhat obvious, an indicator that rain was more or less on its way. I think we should go back, I feel like getting wet for no good reason. He handed her book back to her, realising that he never actually got to read it. No matter, he had his own copy back in the common room, although he wasn't sure he would bother reading it tonight. Thank you for letting me borrow it.
Strange how their impromptu introduction to each other had culminated in the pair now staring at each other waiting for someone to make the first move. Perhaps it would be better for him to go it alone, give him some time to think about the days events and clear his head. On the other hand, he wasn't sure if he was ready to part from her company. Of course he didn't know how she felt, perhaps she was in the same position and just waiting for him to make his mind up. His brow furrowed, what he wanted and what he needed were not aligning and that frustrated him. He sighed and made a decision I think I'll walk back along the lake, you're welcome to join me if you like.
Palming the decision off on to her was a decision of sorts he reasoned, but he also did not expect to see her again, thus whatever the course of action he was sure to loose track of her at some point anyway. Here or there it didn't really matter, was there much else to talk about? Would she even be remotely interested? Probably not, but as he had just pointed out, she was unusual and so no prediction he made would or could be based on any sense of evidence simply because he didn't have any evidence to base his predictions on.

•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•——————✧◦♚◦✧——————⋆•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•The crisp frigid breeze tickled Helena’s pale ivory face gently. Making the young girl shudder slightly from the rigidness of the air. Glancing softly over towards Victor the young golden haired girl smiled rather softly, taking her textbook gently back from the other student.
Her golden hair kicked up slightly due to the breeze getting a tad stronger. Taking in a small breath of air. Helena turned around glancing over at the young boy fairly close to her. Helena smiled a small shy smile after all she wished to hurry back indoors before any sudden torrential downpour after all. It would be a horrendous outcome if they got caught in a storm.
Helena shuddered at the thought of drenched sopping wet robes how uncomfortable that would have been if it indeed happened. As if a warning of the storm approaching, another roll of thunder rumbled in the distance sounding much closer than the last one. The clouds above darkened in coloration as if warning the children of the storm's close approach.
Helena glanced upwards before looking back down grabbing her belongings. Helena moved closer to Victor before glancing across the Great Lake.
“Suppose walking along the lake would not be that bad. Let us start heading off shall we?”
Helena spoke softly as she began to walk slowly along the water's edge awaiting for the other to join her. The young girl's golden hair bounced gently against her back as the wind picked up slightly. It felt rather peaceful the calm before the storm that is the old muggle saying was it not?

He caught her glance, the ghost of a smile running away from her face as she turned away before he could get a good look. Strange he had found company in the most unlikely of places, nevertheless he was grateful and her presence seemed to keep the chill away just a little more than normal. They began their walk, the soft crunch of stones and the rustle of trees being the only sound for a while, ahead he could see other students making their way back to the castle, obviously the arrival of storm clouds was enough to clear out the lakeside of everyone but the locals.
The thought reminded him of something she mentioned and he eyed the lake with caution, aware that beneath the surface, all manner of creatures lurked, not all of them friendly. ''I enjoyed our talk'' he said quietly ''Thank you for staying and not disturbing my prayer'', he felt as though the gratitude was overdue, after all their walk would be over soon and he did not recall thanking her, although she probably wouldn't have expected one he felt as though it was needed. He turned his head back, looking toward the clouds, rain was beginning to approach the far bank, and so he removed his robe and placed it over her shoulders, ''I think we're going to get wet''.
