From what she and Kyle had been talking about, Ella could guess that "Pozioni" meant potions. It would have been a lot easier if she could understand Italian. "So you must be very Eccitato excited for Pozione potion class then. I want to pursue Musica, be in a band, and travel the world." "Oh, really? I think that's cool!" said Ella. It seemed like she wasn't the only one with her life planned out, sort of.
Ella asked Kyle if he had any siblings. She didn't quite expect the answer..."You have TEN siblings?!" Ella exclaimed, something she didn't often do. And Kyle was the youngest apparently. Good lord, Ella used to think that 3 siblings were a lot... "I have 3 brothers," "I'm the second youngest. My brother Georges is the oldest, then there's Julien, and then me, and then my baby brother Liam."
As soon as Ella was done, the compartment door opened. A much older boy stood there. Ella had no idea who he was, but she assumed that Kyle knew who he was, since the older boy had said his name. Kyle and the older boy were speaking in Italian, and Ella kind of wished she could understand what they were saying, but instead, she slumped down in her seat. There were 3 people in a tiny compartment now.
"Ciao Ella! Scusa about this," said Kyle, apolegtic. Ella nodded and waved as Kyle and the older boy left the compartment. She sighed. The compartment felt so quiet and empty now. Just Ella, her thoughts, and her sketchbook. She'd never been parted from it for so long because she was talking to someone. Ella flipped a page and bit her lip. She had never not liked being alone before, as far as she knew, but this was a first. But then Ella smiled to herself. She'd manage to hold a conversation with someone who wasn't one of her brothers!
Ella grinned, took her pencil, and started to reconstruct the Hogwarts Express on paper. Who knew, maybe she'd have more conversations just like this once she got to Hogwarts? Maybe she'd see Kyle again? Maybe she'd come out of her shell and start socialising more? It was a lot of hope piled onto a very slim possibility, but big transitions always result in big changes. Maybe, just maybe, she'd find happiness at Hogwarts after all. Though she still didn't understand why they had to take a train there...
