"I'm not a vampire!" he said defensively.
"I'm a dhampir. My father is a vampire and my mother was a human, a witch. She attended Hogwarts,"
I was surprised by this remark. I didn't know vampires and humans could have a baby.

"There's no vampires here at Hogwarts. There's a few other dhampirs but not many and we're students like yourself - here to learn, here to make friends. If we were a threat, we wouldn't be here." he explained and took a step back as if I was going to hurt him.
The rain started to fall. Maybe it was the cold water that cleared my mind. I started to trust the older boy in front of me more and more. Were vampires (or half-vampires) all evil? Maybe not. The person in front of me is half-vampire and all Simon's been doing is helping me and stopping me from going into the Forbidden Forest. Vampires being evil were just a stereotypical thing, though the book 'Dracula' certainly didn't help. Same with Slytherin, stereotypically, all Slytherins are evil, because of You-Know-Who and all that, but I can tell you first-hand that that's not true. I have some friends and classmates who are in Slytherin and they're all pretty nice.

"I can answer any other questions you have or we can walk in silence, but I must escort you back to the castle. It is late and you need to get back to your Common Room."
I nodded numbly and we started walking back to the castle. More question filled my head on the way back. His explanation had left more questions than answers.
"Can you eat garlic? What happens if you get stabbed by a wooden stick? If vampires are real, does that mean Count Dracula is real as well? What's in the Forbidden Forest?" I fired my questions at the older boy.
