“Quiet Times” - 5th September 2023 - 4.30PM - Outfit: School Robes - Interacting with @Cassiopeia Alarie
He watched as they took the book and started checking it. He didn’t mind sharing those little notes since he had far more advanced notes on his papers and those were absolutely private, but those others were just a bunch of random reminders left while revising. He kept looking at his book anyway since he only lent it to Cassi, and even if he was rather confident they wouldn’t ruin it, he wanted to be sure.
“No problem, you look reliable. Just don’t make any creases, or my parents will end me.” he replied, briefly thinking of what could happen if he had a creased, non-perfect book. The family would probably disown him for eternity. He shook his head to make that thought go away, and came back to reality. “Yeah, that’s true. They even made me learn piano.” he added with a sigh. He didn’t necessarily hate the piano itself, but all the lessons and the pressure to play it without making any mistake surely didn’t contribute to making him like it.
He made a confused face when Cassi mentioned a cursed violin, he was almost sure they didn’t have anything like that back at home. “A random cursed object? No... The only things I’m not allowed to touch are my mother’s books, and I cannot enter one room, but that’s because my parents don’t want to.” he said and kept looking at the book. Looked like Cassi was appreciating his notes, good for them.
“But that’s peculiar, a violin you said? Hmm...” he couldn’t lie, he was a bit curious about it. Not everyday someone says they have a cursed violin at home, but revealing more details was up to Cassi.

Now Cassi has two ways to go on about this, they could tell minimal details or tell him why they have a cursed violin.
He seems trustworthy so the latter with suffice, "Yeah my mom's family was on Voldemort's side of the war. So you could say we have a lot of cursed objects. The curse on it is very peculiar, my mom won't tell me what it is just that it's peculiar."
Cassi just told him one of many family secrets, their grandmother bears the mark proudly at family gatherings, saying how proud she is that she served him.
They were careful not to crease when they turned to the next page, "At least no one calls me a baby deatheater, well to my face. I've heard them say it when they think I'm not listening. It's sad that they won't say it to my face though."
Casi chooses to block out the sadness, by refocusing on the book. Damian's facial expression is unreadable, which is sometimes good sometimes bad. Cassi just hopes he doesn't think of them differently, this quite the first impression.
That's the first time they've ever told anyone about the secret and the deatheater comments. Mostly because it doesn't really bother Cassi, many families have a history of bad witches and wizards but Cassi's family is full of them. Hopefully he doesn't think Cassi will 'go bad'.
Cassi refuses to surrender to the hippogriff shite that is blood supremacy, honestly he was a hypocrite. He himself was a half blood but slaughtered those that were anything less than pure, if Cassi was 11 in the 90s they would have given Voldemort a piece of their mind.
Hypocrites and Blood Supremacy: Revealed would make a good title for a book, wouldn't it?

Damian remained silent for a few seconds after that revelation. He obviously knew much about the war but never heard someone talk about that so easily, probably also because he never talked about it with kids of his age. That was a delicate topic and never really popped out as a topic during his conversation, and it was mainly heard by adults here and there.
“Oh. Yes, indeed, that must be rather unique. No wonder they won’t tell you, it’s probably either powerful or too complex.” he replied, at first with a surprised tone, and then again quite neutral. Of course he was surprised, but he didn’t judge Cassi: he was smart enough to understand that they had nothing to do with their family’s old choices, and they definitely looked like they were disapproving of those choices, so why would Damian say something hurtful for no purpose?
“Seriously?” he assumed a serious expression, he couldn’t believe what Cassi just said. “What a bunch of losers. They probably are too stupid to think with their own head and just go around babbling stuff they don’t even know.” he said after noticing how Cassi almost buried their head in the book. Those words probably had hurted them in the past, it was clear, and Damian really couldn't stand that kind of cowardly bullying. “I can’t believe there are people who are that ignorant and coward too.” he added after a while. “And I bet they call themselves the ‘good guys’ too.”

Cassi made the right decision,
he isn't judging them but instead is upset on their behalf. "They fancied themselves the next golden trio. They said I was evil but I'm not the one bullying oth.-"
Soon as they stop speaking as soon as the word almost slipped out, they've bullied people. It may not have been in the last 5 years but they did bully people, they're ashamed because it gave them a weird sense of power. The power they didn't have at home, it was a dark time in their life that they refuse to go back to.
They realize that if they are quiet for too long Damian will get suspicious, so they clear their throat before speaking. "They've probably been going around the neighborhood saying I'm in juvie, like jail for troubled kids." Cassi almost forgot that Damian is a pureblood, which is why they clarified what juvie is.
It still amuses Cassi about how some wizards don't know about the muggle world, but then again Cassi is the offspring of a Pureblood (mother), a deceased Halfblood (father), and a squib stepmother. They've got the best of all worlds....They are definitely forcing Damian to watch Hannah Montana in the future, he'd probably not understand how people couldn't tell Miley was Hannah even though all she wore was a blonde wig.

Damian listened to Cassi talking about those who with good probability bullied them in the past for their family, thinking that maybe after all he was lucky to have lived among his walls for a good part of his life. He didn’t have many friends since the only kids he used to hang out with were all children of his parents’ friends, and the relationships felt a bit forced at times. He was homeschooled too, so there simply hadn’t been an occasion to meet other people.
“Well, I’m sorry to hear that. Their behaviour clearly shows how stupid they must be.” he commented reiterating what he was thinking about them. If one must hate on someone else, they better have a true reason behind it, instead of picking at something the person didn’t even choose. Take Damian’s list of despised people: they all did something very specific to end up there, their origins had nothing to do with it.
“Oh, sure.” he replied after hearing the meaning of the word Cassi used, not wanting to admit that he didn’t know what they were talking about. He knew it was perfectly normal for him to not know what was going on in the Muggle world and all the things there were there, but still he struggled to admit a flaw in his apparently perfect behaviour, and that included being completely ignorant towards the Muggle world.
“Are they still around troubling people?” he asked, thinking if perhaps he could have done anything to make them stop. Cassi seemed a really nice person, and Damian couldn’t stand fake good people who went around and tortured others. He wasn’t the type to fight or break rules just to get revenge, though; he may have had to think of another way to help Cassi.

"Yeah, they're still going around being cruel because 'evil people don't deserve kindness'. Especially this boy Charles, he doesn't give up even after I slapped in primary school. It was a lapse in judgment and it'll never happen again."
Cassi says with furrowed eyebrows but on the last part their lips almost upturned. They don't feel bad about slapping him and he has repeatedly gotten them to that point, but they haven't hit him after primary school....yet.
"Bloody hell I almost forgot that we're in a library. I mean bloody heck, excuse my language Damian." They did truly forget that the both of them are in a library, Cassi with great caution turns the page on the previously forgotten book with Damian's notes. They gasp lowly, the book isn't even crinkled nor ripped.
"Do you like history? I'm fond of the past, but I will never understand why the present is the way it is." Cassi says without looking away from the perfect book, they have their share of perfectly kept things but this book doesn't even have ink blotts from spilled ink.
They mean it, the past has had many interesting things happen in it but the present is filled to the brim with bullies and corrupt leaders. They suppose the past shaped the future into what it is now.

He continued nodding as Cassi started to open up more about their past: he couldn’t relate and found it quite difficult to put in their shoes since had never experienced such harsh bullying, but still if Cassi wanted to let some negative thoughts go, why would Damian stop them?
If he wasn’t such a strict boy, always respectful of laws and rules, and forced to always behave perfectly, he would have probably hit someone in the past too; who could have known though? History isn’t made of ‘ifs’.
“Don’t worry. Although I have to agree, we are in a library. You should lower your voice a bit.” he replied calmly yet a bit coldly. Nothing personal, he simply didn’t want to get involved in some potential detention that would have lowered his school record forever. No, he didn’t even want to think about it.
He was surprised to hear Cassi’s question, it looked a bit random in the context, but probably they wanted to simply close the topic and move on. And considering they still were in a library and had to keep their voices low, it was definitely better to change the topic. “I do. In fact, History of Magic is one of my favourite subjects.” he answered, casually looking at his book in Cassi’s hands. They looked reliable in taking care of the book, and Damian had absolutely no problem in lending it for a few hours.
“What other subjects do you like, Cassi?” he asked shortly after, thinking that probably Defense against the Dark Arts wasn’t among them, considering the difficulty they had in studying it.
