Mentioning: N/A Speech | ThoughtsUnable to see why anyone would possibly need to collect so many records at home, Sylvia suddenly remembered how her house has a huge collection of books instead. So it’s basically just a different hobby. She thought, managing to understand why Cass would want to spend so much money on it.
Thinking about the inconvenience of having to buy a specific record for each song, Sylvia asked in confusion: “Isn’t there anything that could play multiple songs at the same time?” Back at home, she recalled that her mother sometimes took out an item that she think is called an MP3 when listening to music. “Have you ever heard of an MP3? I believe my mother used to own one.”
Impressed by Cass’s amazing ability of switching subjects during conversations, she now has to answer what her birthstone is. Having read it somewhere before, it didn’t take her more than a few seconds to come up with an answer: “I’m born in January, so I suppose that makes my birthstone Garnet? I don’t know much about it, so please correct me if I’m wrong.” After a moment of hesitation, she made up her mind to ask about the logic behind this unusual series of questions: “If you don’t mind me asking, what does birthstones have to do with music?”

"Yeah, I used to have an MP3 but I like to just dance around when I listen to music and the MP3 wasn't unbreakable. Mom was so mad, she yelled at me for about 2 hours. But don't worry she only yells because I make her mad when I act like a....Anyway I do believe your birthstone is Garnet and it has nothing to do with music." I suppose I should stay as aloof about the subject as possible so Sylvia doesn't suspect anything.
How is it when I talk my home life sounds completely tragic, it's simple if I don't make mom mad she won't yell at me. I remember someone saying my mom is 'toxic' but I was knee-deep in cake and I might have misheard them. "Sylvia do you like cake? If so what's your favorite cake flavor?"
Pretty sure Sylvia has caught what I'm trying to do because, she's parsel-perci-perceptive? She's perceptive and bloody intelligent, if she wanted to take over the world she totally could if she wanted to of course. I want to be a dragon tamer and shop owner specifically in diagon alley, I love the rush of adrenaline and talking to people so those jobs practically scream 'Cassi'.

Mentioning: N/A Speech | ThoughtsSylvia secretly laughed on the inside at hearing Cass’s story of breaking her mother’s MP3, since she herself could relate to the girl’s experience all too well. Back at home, whenever she accidentally broke something, she has always found it rather frustrating to endure her parents scolding as well.
After Cass explained that birthstones and music has no correlation, she instantly switched to talking about cakes this time. Suspicious, Sylvia began analyzing all the possible reasons of Cass’s actions and came to a conclusion: either she’s trying to continue the conversation, or she’s trying to get enough information, for herself or someone else, to buy me a gift.
She ruled out the first option within seconds, since Cass doesn’t seem like the kind who needs to use shallow questions to keep their conversation going. But buying a gift? They’ve only met for a few minutes so far. Nevertheless, Cass can’t actually be classified as normal by all common standards…
“My guess is that you are collecting information either for yourself or for someone else to buy me a gift? It’s honestly a bit too obvious… Anyway, I don’t prefer desserts much, but my favorite cake flavor would be blueberry, I think.”

“My guess is that you are collecting information either for yourself or for someone else to buy me a gift? It’s honestly a bit too obvious… Anyway, I don’t prefer desserts much, but my favorite cake flavor would be blueberry, I think.” Dang it I forgot she's parcel-perci-perceptive, blueberry cake sounds interesting but then again I like every type of cake.
"Well I'm planning on getting you some gifts, in fact I'm going to go work on them right now. You'll get them in the Great Hall at breakfast in a few days. Hope you like cake and macaroons and jewelry, see you then Sylvia." I gather up my books while beaming at my new friend, I'd like to say this interaction went perfectly well. Weirdly enough most of the people that I talk to end up being very Sarcastic or introverts. Just my luck!
I almost forgot we're in the library, it took were two very cool and awesome conversationalists. My next mission is to make Sylvia smile even if it's small or just a smirk, but I will get to see Sylvia smile and I will be completely amazingly awesomely victorious. I can already hear my victory music as I skip away with a smile on my face.
Now I just have to come up with the perfect gifts for Sylvia, maybe skipping away wasn't a good idea. What if Sylvia doesn't like them anymore or asks about their past, they know that they should stay in the present but time is a fickle thing.

Mentioning: N/A Speech | ThoughtsA look of surprise flashed by on Cass’s face, confirming Sylvia’s previous assumption of what this girl is currently up to. Why is she buying me a gift? We don’t even know each other much yet! Just as she was about to open her mouth to decline politely, Cass spoke again, taking her by surprise, as usual.
“You'll get them in the Great Hall at breakfast in a few days. Hope you like cake and macaroons and jewelry, see you then Sylvia.” “Them”? How many gifts is she planning on buying for me?! Sylvia thought in disbelief. Seeing that Cass is about to get up and leave, she instantly blurted out exactly what she was thinking: “You really don’t need to do so, we barely even know each other.”
Recalling Cass mention jewelry, although she’s sure that the girl meant well, Sylvia was immediately filled with disgust. Growing up, she has always seen jewelry as impractical and useless, something that only superficial people would like. Despite her opinion being somewhat biased, she definitely doesn’t want to receive any jewelry when she’s only 11 years old. Before Cass could get out of earshot, she hurriedly added: “Even if you really want to buy something for me, just a few books would be perfectly fine, honestly.”
Not sure whether the girl would actually listen to her, the only solution she could think of in order to forget all this is to start reading again. Hope she won’t give me anything too flamboyant. She thought before diving back into her homework.
