They sat in silence for a bit. Normally Madi disliked silence. She thought it was awkward. But it didn't feel awkward around Aries. It felt like it was okay to be quiet around her
The silence was broken. Best friends? Rie asked, and she held up her pinky toward Madi. She thought about it, but she had her answer almost instantly. Madi could use a best friend. Rie showed her how to link their fingers together.
One of Madi's fears for Hogwarts was making friends. She didn't know if she would make any friends or not. Back home, she'd never had to worry where she fit in, because her friends were always there. But now, she had no idea where she belonged. Back in the Muggle world, or here in the Magical one? She'd worried about that since she'd learned she was a witch. But having a friend made it all a million times better.
"Of course." She said, and opened the book she had grabbed.

so you know the story right? aries asked after she had responded. she bit her lip, and flipped open to a new page. see we have to make it understandable, for someone completely new that doesn't know much. she instantly regretted those words, as she remembered that madi was a muggle born too. not like you i mean, you're-- nevermind, i guess everyone is smart in their own way. rie smiled to show she cared, and that she was truthful on her own words. her chocolate eyes glimmered, watching the way madi seemed like a perfect best friend.
aries meant everything shee said, even if it was wrong. she looked longingly into the fogged up windows, at the sight of smoky air and chilly mountain tops. beauty was in nature, in madi, and in herself. she knew by the words of her mother that hogwarts would arrive soon. harry potter, his first year she spoke as she wrote, quietly though much to herself than to madi.
what about your family back at home? who and how are they? rie thought about this question, since it wasn't one she would have liked to answer. her mother's grinning smile and blood red lips appeared in front of her. ana right? that was surely what she heard madi say when she spoke to the other young little girl with adorable pigtails and a sweet smile.

Aries said that they had to make it understandable for someone who didn't know much. She seemed to regret her words and rephrased them, saying that everyone was smart in their own way. "Not knowing things doesn't mean you aren't smart. No one knows everything." Madi pointed out. She appreciated that Rie didn't want to offend her, though.
After a bit of silence, Rie asked Madi about her family. "I have a little sister named Analia, but I call her Ana for short. She turned three about two and a half months ago. My parents own a shop, and our apartment is right above it." she said. "I have a really big family, but most of my relatives live in France." she added.
"what about you-" she began to say, and then stopped when she saw Rie's face. She did not think this was a question Rie would have liked to answer, so she decided not to ask it. She thought that if Rie wanted to tell her, she would.

she grinned at her piece of parchment, stopping herself from looking outside, because she didnt want to get off and leave madi. so then -ade-, his evil and snobby new guardians take him in... she continued the whole story until both harry in the story and they reached hogwarts. i wish i could stay here, and ride longer. they still had a minutes left, as the smoke was still hazed over the dark castle still faraway.
she swished her braids over her shoulder, letting her bangs fall loose into her face. she blowed on them, wishing she could stay in the moment. but ill probably see her again wont i? she thought reassuring herself on her relationship with her first best friend ade.
its sad that we have to leave now. i met you however! the best part of being here, why dont we go on the boat together? i heard there was one. she asked smoothly, so that she could spend more time with ade. she waited for a response, and even if she didnt get one, she would know that they would certainly meet again later on.

As Aries began to explain, Madi nodded and jotted things down in her own book as Aries spoke. As Rie was speaking, she called Madi "Ade" off of her last name. She grinned. It was hard for people to create nicknames for her, with a four letter name. She loved that Aries could do that easily, and that it didn't feel weird when she called her that. That felt like a good sign, like they were going to have a really good friendship.
Soon, the whole page was full and Aries stopped. Madi looked out the window to see why. They'd just about reached Hogwarts. She frowned, shut her book, and handed it back to Rie. It was hers, after all.
"I know. I was dreading this ride but now I don't want to get off." Madi said. Rie was the kind of bundle of energy and joy she needed. "That would be awesome." she smiled as they stood up to get off the train.
