Compartment Companionship
The sweets that Asteria had bought did sound like a good combination, however it ultimately wasn't enough to change his choice. "Can I have a Jelly Slug and some Ice Mice, please?" Constantine asked politely, exchanging a kind smile and his money in return for the confectionery he'd wanted. After pocketing the change, he returned to his seat with the things he'd bought.
"That's right. A sister, too." The boy nodded, taking a bite from his Jelly Slug. He chewed for a moment, as if thinking what to say, before swallowing. "He works for the Ministry. He's an Auror." Constantine smiled proudly. His brother was most definitely someone to be inspired by - he'd created his goal, and completed it. His sister, on the other hand, was a bit of an odd ball. Whilst she was good at Quidditch, a seeker at heart, she chose to make broomsticks rather than fly them. Though, she was good at what she did, and that made him appreciate her all the more.
"D'you have any siblings?" He asked with interest. He couldn't imagine a life without his siblings, or the arguments that happened all too frequently. Despite that, he wouldn't change it for the world. Constantine thought he'd be far too lonely on his own.

Just informing you that I won't be online much this week, or next week, as I'm on holiday. I'm fairly busy, so that'll be why I won't respond! But I'll try if I get the chance!

Asteria waited for a response as she and Constantine took there purchases from the lady. He had bought a Jelly Slug and some Ice Mice, "That's right. A sister, too." He answered. Asteria's curiosity increased slightly with that statement. A brother and a sister, it must be a handful, having two siblings to grow up with, she didn't know how she'd react to having one sibling let alone two. She'd probably lose her mind, "He works for the Ministry. He's an Auror." Asteria's eyes widened ever-so slightly in excitement. "Really?" She said happily. "My dad is an Auror too, maybe they might know each other!" It was always exciting to find out that a new friends family member is in the same line of work as one of hers.
"I want to be an Auror too when I finish school, just like my dad. Meanwhile, my mum is a healer at St.Mungo's and my uncle is a Magizoologist." she said proudly. She loved all of their jobs, especially her dad and uncles, she thought theirs were the coolest. But being an Auror resonated with what she wanted the most so far. Of course as time goes on it's always subject to change, but right now being an Auror was a goal for the future."D'you have any siblings?" Constantine asked Asteria."No, sadly I don't." She replied. "I've always wondered what it's like too have some though. The closest I have to siblings are my three younger cousins." Asteria's three cousins were half-bloods but like her grew up with a nice balance of both a magical and muggle up bringing in their life. One of her cousins would be starting school next year, however her aunt and uncle will be sending her to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic like her mother, instead of Hogwarts like her father.

"They must know each other! I'll ask my brother next time I see him!" Constantine beamed excitedly. He didn't know what his brother was like at work, so perhaps Asteria's dad could give him an insight. Though, he pitied him a bit - getting stuck with a brother like his all day was enough to make him pale. Whilst Constantine usually enjoyed his brother's company, he definitely didn't cease to annoy him, either. Constantine's interest was peaked at the mention of her Uncle's job. "Really? That's what I want to be when I'm older! What does he think about the job?" The boy questioned eagerly. It was nice that Asteria wanted to follow in her dad's footsteps, as Constantine had wanted to do so for a while.
He was surprised that she was an only child, though he was somewhat intrigued. "They're annoying." He stated flatly, "But I love them all the same. They're both older than me, so I'd say it's a bit difficult to get on with them - or at least, my sister." He finished. Constantine could get on well with his brother, as they were practically the spitting image of each other, but his sister was harder to get a hold of. Though, he was sure it'd be lonely without them. The boy wondered what Asteria did in her spare time, if she had no siblings to annoy.

"They must know each other! I'll ask my brother next time I see him!" Constantine answered. "Okay," Asteria replied. "and I'll ask my dad when I write to him and mum later!" Asteria wondered if the two knew each, if they were at least friends. It would be amazing if they were, she didn't know some of her parents friends other than the ones they had grownup and had gone to school with. If Asteria were lucky, she'd have friends like her parents did too, bonds strong enough to last even after Hogwarts. Asteria noticed Constantine perk up a bit more when she mentioned her uncle."Really?" he said. "That's what I want to be when I'm older! What does he think about the job?"
"Well," Asteria said as she picked up a Chocolate frog, "As far as I know, he loves his job. He's always talking about it, and mum said he's always had a love of creatures and has wanted to be one ever since he found out the job existed." she thought about all the times her uncle Will would talk about work, "He always came over with a story to tell." Asteria explained. "He once told me about an injured unicorn foal he found, some git thought it would be fun to try and scare it. It ran away and ended up getting hurt." Asteria never forgot that story, how dare someone bring harm to a sweet little unicorn! If she could, she'd find the git and put The Curse of The Bogies on him.
Asteria listened as Constantine explained what it was like to have sibling, "They're annoying." he said. "But I love them all the same. They're both older than me, so I'd say it's a bit difficult to get on with them - or at least, my sister." "Really?" Asteria responded. "If I had any siblings, I think I'd go mad at some point." she joked. "Being an only child isn't so bad. No one to bud in on my privacy, or pull any unwanted pranks on me." she explained. "Sometimes it can fell a bit lonely, but I fill my time with either playing with the muggle kids in the muggle part of my area, or I get to go over to my aunt and uncles house in Ireland, things like that." Asteria was always up to something when she wasn't reading she liked having something to do. "Sometimes I would go to a wooded area near my grandmother's house when I visit her, seeing if I can spot an creatures there." Asteria's uncle Will you to take her to do things like that sometimes when she was little; as she got older, Asteria started doing it herself sometimes.

Asteria's description of her Uncle's job only made Constantine more dedicated to achieve it himself. He'd love to have a variety of stories to share from his own travels, ones that were exciting to listen to. At the moment, he didn't have any interesting run-ins with any sort of magical creature, a true pity, yet a blessing at the same time - some were particularly dangerous to encounter. The boy bit into one of his ice mice, making his teeth chatter together for a moment.
"Oh, I can't really play with the muggle kids. I live too far away." Constantine explained. He had nothing against them, however he lived too far out to get to know any of the locals. Whilst Constantine admired her ability to be alone, he didn't think he could manage it himself. He did enjoy a bit of peace and quiet from time to time, though he'd always end up searching for something social to do.
"Did you ever spot anything?" Constantine queried. His back garden was full of forest and fields, though it never housed anything spectacular. The Jarveys were always fun to watch, however Constantine's crups always chased them away before he got a good look at them.

"Bummer." Asteria responded to Constantine, "Being with muggles isn't so bad. It's like an adventure sometimes. Learning something new everyday." she said. "Godric's Hollow has managed to blend itself in nicely with the muggle community. So its rather easy to interact with the local muggles there." Asteria thought of all the places she has seen, her uncle and aunts old house blended in with muggles as well. Their new house in Ireland however, is in a rather small wizarding community a little further away from the muggles, but not too far. Asteria's been raised around both the muggle world and the wizarding world, she wondered what it would be like if she hadn't though. If she grew up around wizards only, would she still think the same way about muggles?
"Did you ever spot anything?" Constantine asked after she mentioned the woods near her grandmothers house. Asteria thought back for a moment. "I've seen quite a few Bowtruckle here and there in the area, they stay near these trees that are near a lake that's further in the woods." Asteria smiled as she remembered seeing the cute little creatures for the first time, she wished she could see what they were doing now. "I think I've also seen a few fairies too, there's also an old rumor that they're Grindylows in the lake, but I'm not sure." Her Father told her about that rumor once when she was younger, now however she wondered if it were true or not; she wasn't to keen on finding the answer however.

"I feel a bit silly when talking to muggles." Constantine admitted with a laugh, "They're always talking about things I don't understand. But that's alright, because it gives me something to find out about." He grinned. After all, he had attended a muggle school prior to Hogwarts. Football was probably his favourite muggle invention, as it was a fun team sport, and the players were scarcely hurt on the field (unlike Quidditch). "Have you got any muggle friends?" He asked. The boy thought it would be a nice variety, rather than hanging out with fellow wizards all the time.
"I've only read about them in books, I'd like to see one someday." Constantine smiled enthusiastically. Well, he'd like to see every magical creature, however the Bowtruckle was a good start. "Aren't they dangerous? Grindylows, I mean." He said cautiously. Asteria was probably better off not going to look for them, but then again, if Constantine had been in her shoes he wouldn't have had a second thought before running off to find one.
Looking back to the window, he watched the surroundings pass again. He did wonder how long it'd be until they got there, but the scenery wouldn't be able to help - he hadn't the slightest clue as to where they were.

"I feel a bit silly when talking to muggles. They're always talking about things I don't understand. But that's alright, because it gives me something to find out about." Asteria listened as Constantine spoke, "My mum and dad wanted me to understand both worlds, they think it would be better in the long run. But yeah, that happens to me too sometimes; even when I went to muggle school." Despite being raised to know both the muggle and wizarding worlds, there were still things about muggles Asteria just couldn't understand, the differences were vast and plentiful. Still, it was exciting to learn about the muggle world regardless."Have you got any muggle friends?" He asked Asteria. "Yes," Asteria responded "I have a few friends from the muggle world, some from school there and some I had met in the summer." Thinking about them, Asteria couldn't help but miss her old friends. But as far as they concerned they could still be together when it was time for vacation and holidays, so it made her a bit better about going to Hogwarts.
"I've only read about them in books, I'd like to see one someday." Constantine responded upon hearing about the Bowtruckles. "They can be hard to see sometimes, but I think they're adorable, and since they like the trees there so much, maybe those trees would make good wand wood? My uncle Will told me once that the trees they live in are usually of good quality for making wands." Asteria wondered if any wandmakers had actually used any of the tress in the woods before. Maybe her uncle told Ollivander about them once? "Aren't they dangerous? Grindylows, I mean." he went on. "Hm, I think so. I dunno how dangerous, but I don't think I want to find out just yet either." Maybe someday when she would be older she'd find out, but right now she'd rather let that stay as a rumor. Asteria opened the Chocolate Frog package she held in her hands. It wasn't long before the frog sprang to life and hopped out of Asteria's hand. "Oh drat!" Asteria said as she watched the frog hop onto the compartment door.
