Per Sage’s request, Nara offered to show her around the castle once they arrived and Sage felt a smile grow across her face. Good. She had an older year on her side to help her learn about the castle. She wasn’t left defenseless. Nara mentioned skipping class to sleep and the nervous first year let out a small laugh. Would Sage dare to do such a thing? It sounded enjoyable to skip class, but to sleep? Sage didn’t think she’d need any extra time to sleep, but then again, she wasn’t sure how these first days would play out at Hogwarts.
“Sleeping around the school? How have you not managed to get caught by prefects or a professor?” Sage exclaimed with a slight chuckle. Sage couldn’t help but notice Nara’s lack of talking. She must have been tired. Sage was too, but she was riding mostly on nerves and adrenaline. Nara agreed they should change into their robes and Sage nodded, quickly putting her robes on without hesitation. She watched Nara tug her own out of her trunk and put them on before asking her about the picture of Kora.
“Oh, this? It’s a picture of my sister, Kora, and me before I left for the school year,” Sage explained, careful not to add the word ‘step sister’. Sage didn’t think of Kora like that. Sure, they weren’t related by blood, but their past connected them in a way Sage could only describe as sisters.
“Do you have any siblings?” Sage asked Nara, ignoring the picture. She looked out the window to see the train slowing to a stop. Hogwarts. They were here.
