Cicely didn’t usually go to libraries when she was a youn child, studying was something alien to her, but not now, she was fuelled with energy today to study for an upcoming test. She was hopelessly failing at charms and she knew her mother would kill her if she didn’t get anything above an E. she knew that because the last time she got a howler, oh it was so embarrassing, everybody was looking at her, she made sure not to do that mistake next. Today was a chilly day so she decided to get changed to something warm before exciting the warm common room. She wore a white top with a white comfy jumper over a black shirt with a black skirt and some black boots. as she walked towards the library, her eyes shined as she smiled, hopping across the stone floor, her bag on her shoulder. She was full of spirits today, she and Allegra had went down to the Great Lake, had a picnic and exchanged friendship bracelets.

She opened the door of the library, the librarian watching the door as she walked in before she chose a spot to sit, perhaps somewhere near some people. Cicely hated to sit by herself. It just made her feel uneasy. She sat down near a group of slytherins and ravenclaws, minding her own business, as she tried to revise, she couldn’t help listening to those who were arguing at the table next to her. There was a completely white haired boy with a kilt and no shoes. She frowned a bit, her face sinking as she thought of how dirty the floor would be if that person walked through mud. Then there was another girl with long brown hair and sparkling blue eyes, an amused smile at her lips and also another girl who was startling beautiful. They seemed to be taunting the pair of ravenclaws at the table. A girl with brown curls and blue eyes, sporting a ravenclaw house badge, immersed into the book and a blonde haired girl who gone very red as she spluttered that Ravenclaws were better than Slytherins. She smirked softly before she walked over.

”seems like there’s a little argument going on.” she said with a mischievous glint in her eyes as she pulled up a chair and placed her book down. “but we all have to agree that Gryffindor is the best house,” she titled her head to a side, watching them, eyes twinkling. She didn’t usually get involved with opinions against houses as she didn’t want to risk being insulted, she more softhearted when it came to insults but she couldn’t help but add what she said.

She didn’t know anyone there, not a single one. ”what are you guys doing in the library?” she asked.

Elizabeth gulped, and put her hand on her wand deep in the pockets of her robes. She should just leave here, but she wants to punish those stupid people for dishonouring her house. On the other hand, using her wand would mean detention, from either Clair or Bea or some other prefect. She could not leave Cassie here alone, either, to be bullied by the Slythertins, three to one. She also wants to get out of here as quickly as possible before the librarian turns up.

Her mind swirled with thoughts.
"Seems like there's a little argument going on," said a brown-haired girl sitting right next to Elizabeth. She recognized seeing her distantly somewhere at the Gryffindor table during meal times. She seemed nice. "But we all have to agree Gryffindor is the best house."
Elizabeth gulped. What argument does she want to involve with a Gryffindor? She made up her mind in one second. In one swift movement, she stood up once more.
"Oh yes," she told the girl earnestly, "A very good house indeed it is. A very brave one."
Beckoning to Cassie to see if she wants to follow her, she turned and left.

'And how dare you say that Colin!' says Cassie, finally having a chance to speak. 'Your date Clair will be sad when she hears this, won't she? She, is a prefect of Ravenclaw, she is great and you are saying bad of her house. Tut, tut. Clearly Slytherins are not good friends. They make fun of us don't they, clearly they do not have good manners.' Cassie strengthens the last few words.

She looks down at her Ravenclaw is the Best badge. It is glowing in the sunshine, giving her encouragement. And now that more people are coming here, there seem to be more chaos. But she is not afraid. If they are to say anything bad about Ravenclaw again, she thinks, she would rather get into a fight with them, even with the risk of getting detention. When discussing the matter of which is the best house, she can do anything to make her house win.

'Thanks Elizabeth,' she says to the girl next to her. She too, seems to be defending her house, Ravenclaw greatly. 'We will tell those Slytherins the truth, as they seem to not know about it.'

'I tell you guys, no matter which house you are in.' she glances around, 'I am a Ravenclaw, and my house teaches me good manners. We respect every single house, as every one of them has its own quality. But, we are to defense our house, no matter what, when some of you, rudely, tries to say a bit bad about us!'

Mellani entered the library, in need of some peace and a good book. She chose a book and looked around, looking for a place with not many people when she heard raised voices. Intrigued, Mellani headed towards the voices, wanting to know what all the chaos was about. Guess she wouldn't be getting the peace she wanted after all.

When she reached the table, she realized that an argument was going on about the houses. Mellani rolled her eyes as she listened to the Slytherins and Ravenclaws going back and forth. She had to say, both the Ravenclaws did look like clown with all that Ravenclaw stuff on them. Mellani listened to everything, amused, and not wanting to interfere. The Slytherins seemed to be doing pretty good, calm as they were. On the other hand, the Ravenclaws, or, more accurately Ravenclowns, since they did look a lot like clowns who had applied way too much blush, seemed to be losing their temper, and giving the same reasons over and over again.

Mellani almost laughed when the girl said that all the Ravenclaws considered other houses their equals, followed by a direct insult to the Slytherins. For heaven's sake, if you consider all the houses equal then why the hell are you insulting another house? She also noticed that although the Ravenclaws insulted Slytherin while boasting, the Slytherins only boasted about their house, throwing no insults at the Ravenclaws except calling them Ravenclowns. This literally was a clear sign that Slytherin did actually have better people than Ravenclaw. Mellani sighed as she decided to intervene before things got even more heated.

"Now now", she said walking over to the table and clearing her throat. "Unless you want to get detention, you need not to insult other houses and decide that everyone in a particular house should be only what their house reputation says. Yes, the Ravenclaws might be well-mannered, but so are the Slytherins. Just because someone in in Slytherin, that does not determine that the person cannot score good grades or be kind. Every house had equally good people, and you should judge a person by how they act, not which house they belong to." Mellani knew she sounded biased, and also that she had probably just made some enemies, but she wanted to make sure that people understood that one's personality was not determined by one's house.

Fearless

She listened rather lazily to the conversation and winked to Lils as she saw her. Her mouth was in an obstinate line and face betraying nothing what she was thinking.
"Now that we have had this lovely chat, my friends, I think I'll go have a nice catchup with my Transfiguration homework. Enchanting to meet you, Miss Jiang," She bowed her head in mock politeness, "Miss..Sunrise, yes," she indicated her head to the other Ravenclaw, "And the rest of you." She finally concluded and stood up.

It was a bother to have so many people around, she had hoped for some peace. And, resisting the temptation of slapping all offenders in their faces, she turned around elegantly. Her eyes were blazing insanely with madness, and for a fierce moment she just wanted to aggresively hurt them. Then it passed like a breeze and she found her feet guiding her towards the library exit. She had said what she meant. And she hoped not to insane screaming banishees like she just did.

The aspiring duelist was still thinking about the events of what happened, assuring herself that it was lucky that they didn't get caught. All the same, she had never had a detention. What where they like?

The yellow haired girl mentioned Clair. She said that Clair would find out that he called her a turkeyclaw! Colin sat up straight! The Ravenclaw girl suddenly smiled and looked over his shoulder! "Hiya Clair! Didn't expect ta see ya here today. Colin and i were just having this little chat, ya know..."

Colin's heart skipped several beats! How did this firstie know Clair!? What she gave him a detention? Right here in front of everyone!? Colin's eyes locked onto the yellow haired girl's. Wait.

Calm down Colin lad!

Clair likes riddles and teasers, maybe this girl does too. What if she was trying to fool Colin? Of course, she wouldn't be the first to do so. He was far more trusting than any Slytherin boy ought to be. But as she smirked at him, Colin narrowed his eyes. Bullocks, says I, he thought to himself.

Colin's nose crinkled a bit as he sniffed at the air in the library. He tried not to bring too much attention to himself. None of these kids knew what he was, and though his lycanthropy wasn't a closely guarded secret, he didn't go around introducing himself as a werewolf, either! His nostrils flared. The Slytherins he vaguely recognised as familiar from the common room and table in the great hall. The Gryffindork and the two birbs were utterly unknown.

But more to the point, there was one birb who was distinctly missing from the scene. Colin's lips curled slightly. Not really a snarl, not quite a sneer. "Caught you, you little chickenclaw," he muttered at Elizabeth. He leaned back into the chair and smirked right back at her. He crossed his arms over his chest. "Clair, my dear Ravenclown, is NOT standing behind me."

And then the first Ravenclown, the dark haired one, started up again. And she too seemed to know Clair! "And how dare you say that Colin! Your date Clair will be sad when she hears this, won't she? She, is a prefect of Ravenclaw, she is great and you are saying bad of her house. Tut, tut. Clearly Slytherins are not good friends. They make fun of us don't they, clearly they do not have good manners."

Colin's eyes widened slightly and he blushed. Did everyone in Hogwarts know about him and Clair? It's not like they went around advertising or anything! He held his hands over his ears as Cassie lit into him! "Honestly!" Colin said. "You don't have to screech like a bloody banshee! No one's saying Ravenclaw isn't cool, even I think the house is cool! It's just that Slytherin is the best at everything!"

With a slightly dismissive whuff, Colin turned back to the discussion. It seemed to Colin that this little Ravendork focused tiff, which started out quite calmly and logically with Colin describing how Slytherin is the best house, suddenly turned into quite the event! He saw that a Gryffindork had joined in, as well as a couple more of his own house mates. Cassie ranted about manners. Colin rolled his eyes. "Manners. Really?" he said quietly.

"Pfft! Gryffindork the best house!?" Colin gave the lion a confused look. "As if! Everyone knows the order is Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and then Gryffindork."

Clair had been enjoying her day and of course that meant stopping into the library for a few minutes at least twice that day. The Ravenclaw entered the library in a rather calm state which would not last long. With her relatively new role as Prefect, Clair had not yet had to correct anyone and she was not in any rush to have to do so. It seemed that a certain group of students had different ideas, as she entered the library her 21 day streak of not having to deal with trouble would end right here¹.

At first the shouting had just been annoying and Clair had wondered how long it would take for someone to come stop them, at least until she realized that that someone was her, she was a prefect after all! She slowly heaved herself up off of her sitting place and headed towards the commotion.

Her Prefect badge was sitting on her chest over top of her school robes which were neatly arranged and clean. Her hair was pulled up into a pony and the only jewelry she had on was a small butterfly bracelet which she had been wearing a lot lately but it was really nothing to fancy.
Her wand was inside a pocket on her robes and was not in the view of anyone but it was still of course easy for her to grab should she need it.

As she rounded the corner of one of the shelves she saw the commotion. One of the students she knew well, very well, the others not so much. She stood back for a second to watch and then with a aura of (somewhat forced) authority she walked up to the students.

"Care to explain whats going on here?" she asked, eyeing each. "And don't start pointing fingers or wands aimlessly, my afternoon and weekend is empty" she warned.

Uh oh, You've been caught by a prefect! Feel free to to try to convince Clair that your not guilty!

And just as soon as the word 'Gryffindork' had escaped Colin's lips, he caught a slight change in the air currents in the library. His nostrils flared again as he sniffed. The familiar scent surrounded him. Colin's eyes immediately flicked from the Gryffindor girl to Cassie and then locked onto the yellow haired girl. He relaxed in his chair and smirked at the girl.

No, she couldn't fool Colin McCoire into looking behind him at the mere mention of Clair's name! But neither did she know why she couldn't fool him. "Clair." He said the name under his breath and the smirk turned into a smile. He heard her soft footsteps on the wooden floor as she approached them. Surely she looked every bit the awesome Prefect that she was!

"Care to explain what's going on here?" she said. Colin turned to face the girl he loved. He blushed when he caught sight of her sky blue eyes. Her hair was tied back today. Colin! he said to himself. Stop gushing! One thing he knew as she finished up her speech was that his girl was pretty brutally honest. He knew she would never spare him detention if she thought he deserved it. He'd never ask either.

Welp. The lot of them were in for it now! Colin decided to talk first. Before Cassie Jiang could start blabbing. "Um. Hi Clair! We were just having a spirited inter-house debate on the qualities of each! Which is the best house, right? Well, naturally I think Slytherin is the best, and I explained that to your housemate." He nodded towards Cassie, giving the first year a little smirk. If detentions got handed out, he was going to make sure that Jiang wasn't overlooked! "My own house mates joined in, and another one of yours, and one poor Gryffindork over there. It's true that we got rather --- loquaciously rambunctious --- but I think we all learned a lot! Even though, Cassie ---" Colin narrowed his eyes at the dark haired girl "---was screeching like a banshee for quite a while, I suspect she was just showing her house pride in her own way, if not the manners that Ravenclaws are known for! I'd say we all learned a very excellent lesson here today!"

Clair arrived. Clair. Something Elizabeth had both dreaded and excited for.
"Um. Hi Clair! We were just having a spirited inter-house debate on the qualities of each! Which is the best house, right? Well, naturally I think Slytherin is the best, and I explained that to your housemate." Colin explained biasedly, "My own house mates joined in, and another one of yours, and one poor Gryffindork over there. It's true that we got rather --- loquaciously rambunctious --- but I think we all learned a lot! Even though, Cassie --- was screeching like a banshee for quite a while, I suspect she was just showing her house pride in her own way, if not the manners that Ravenclaws are known for! I'd say we all learned a very excellent lesson here today!"
Elizabeth turned to Clair.
"Clair," she said, "I wonder if you'd been around the library long enough to hear or see that Colin started it all. He called us clowns. 'Ravenclowns,' he kept calling us. And turkeys. 'Turkeyfeathers' or something else. Then it was 'Sparrowclaw'." Elizabeth took a death breathe, trying to remember what happened next and what other names Colin called them, "So Cassie and I tried to defend our house. Ravenclaw. We tried to defend Ravenclaw. He said, 'One thing Ravenclowns are best at is getting angry.' Are you best at getting angry, Clair? Half way through us defending Ravenclaw, a girl named Duvessa arrived. She is a Slytherin too. So it was two on two. But then another girl, Lilliana Havenmair or something, hang on it's Havenmore. She joined in the debate too. Then it was us Ravenclaws using our brains and trying to defeat them by talking, and they trying to defeat us by screeching at us with bad words and insults. Again, this Gryffindor" she raised her knuckles in the direction of the Gryffindor girl, having told not to point at anyone, "she came. But she wasn't much part of the discussion. Colin then called her house 'Gyffindork'. Whoever might've raised their voices at some point except Colin ought to be reasonable and can be explained. Colin started it. The other Slytherins encouraged the debate. We have eye witnesses here." she said it all very quick and only paused here for a long breathe, "Ask, Clair. It was Colin's fault. Had he not been here this debate will not have started. By the way Cassie did not scream like a banshee. However loud, human voices does not reach the loudness of a banshee."

'Clair!' Cassie cried. 'You are finally here! I need you so badly! Please listen to me, I will explain what is happening.' tears are coming out of her eyes, and she just can't stop it.

'Elizabeth has explained it quite well, I am just adding. You see, as a part-goblin, I am great at metal-crafting. And I made this metal badge...' she wipes her tears on her robe and takes the Ravenclaw is the best badge off. She hands it to Clair. 'I am doing all this just for fun, and out of my love towards my house, Ravenclaw. But, Colin, he...' she wipes her tears on her robe again, 'sorry Clair, he comes over to me, and says, oh, Ravenclown is the best? And then he says some bad words towards Ravenclaw.'

She takes a deep breath and continues. 'I try to defend my house, then Duvessa came, and they two says bad words towards Ravenclaw together, teasing about they won house cups two times in a row. Then Elizabeth comes, she is very helpful. Then, then without we saying anything further, Colin declared Slytherin's victory and says some more bad words. Then Elizabeth and I thought of you. Trying to prove Colin is wrong. But he, he...' she pauses. 'He crosses his arms and says that you, his dear Ravenclown is not standing beside him. He also say bad words about Gryffindor. Please, help us Clair, please! Don't listen to Colin's nonsense. He is way too rude. AND I DID NOT SCREAM.'
