Lisa smiled, finally someone who might tolerate her. (Although let's be honest, there was no stopping her either way). She decided to focus on the earlier statement. The one about history. She personally wasn't all that interested in history as a whole, even though she was fascinated with certain historical figures."Can't say much about muggle history over here, but we're sure to learn something."
She shifted so she was more comfortable, crossing her legs as she gazed out the window.

Good to hear that. Here's hoping you'll stick to that mindset come next week. And no, I'd prefer if you didn't leave. You're actually quite tolerable compared to other people.

Shooting Alyssea a smile so she knew Lisa was actually quite happy in her presence, she shifted her eyes back to the window from where they had shot into her new friend's eyes. She had always been told she had an intense stare. She fully believed it. People actively avoided eye contact with her because of that reason alone.

She was fine with it, honestly. There was a certain thrill to be gained in knowing that people couldn't look into your eyes for pure intimidation alone. It was power. It was freedom. It was the vindication of the pure spite fuelling your very will to live.

Lisa decided that her mind needed to pick up this tangent when she was alone and pulled herself back to Alyssea, a difficult feat, to say the least.

"How far are we from Hogwarts anyway?"

She wondered if it would live up to the stories her parents had told so many times they were drilled into her brain.

While Alyssea's 'making friends' agenda consisted of questions such as favourite colour, favourite book, and other cliché questions, this current situation of collecting chocolate frog cards and declaring their red flags was certainly out of the ordinary. Though, Alyssea didn't mind; all friendships begin differently, which included this one.

It was at least reassuring that she had someone to lean on before they arrived. It was better than walking into the school blind and not knowing who to befriend until the Sorting Ceremony.

The Sorting Ceremony! The thought almost slipped her mind. Alyssea didn't know where she would end up: Slytherin like her father or Ravenclaw like her mother? Or would she be entirely different from them? And would Lisa be in her house, too?

"How far are we from Hogwarts, anyway?" Lisa asked.

Alyssea tuned back into the conversation and looked out the window. The ride had been quite long already but the sun was close to the horizon now. She turned to Lisa. "I'd say we're pretty close. My dad said the ride usually takes the whole day so that when you get on the boats to the castle, it's near nighttime."

The idea of boats irked Alyssea. Would they have to row them on their own? Surely not since they were only 11. But well, as an 11-year-old, your imagination tends to run wild.

Alyssea cleared her throat. "Are you excited to find out what house you are? I don't know where I'll be."

“I hope she'll be a fool — that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.”
