Anna stood in front of the floor length mirror in her room, admiring her new dress her mother had tailored for her. Speaking of her mother, Madeline was fixing the bow in her hair for the last five minutes, trying to make it perfect. Anna loved the colour scheme for this ball, it was cool, and suited her skin tone and dark hair. And her mother chose a perfect dress for her as always. Her parents decided to send her on her own deeming it time for her to have her debutante ball into high society of Purebloods without them. Her father was still iffy about it, but her mother insisted. They were going to be attending the Dupont family Ball the following day, leaving Anna to attend the Sato Yule Ball all on her own. She was thrilled. She knew of all the expectations his threw on her shoulders too, but she felt like she was ready to attend her first ball without her parents' watchful eyes.

When her mother touched up the bow for the hundredth time, Anna finally had enough. “Maman, it’s perfect, no need to fuss over it anymore”, she smiled at her mother in the mirror. Her mother smiled and placed her hands on her daughters’ shoulders. “Forgive me mon chère, my dear I just want you to look as perfect as you really are”. Anna saw tears in her mother eyes. “Maman!”, she swirled around and hugged her mother. “I’ll be fine. I promise”. Madeline hugged her tightly. They both turned around at a sound of a knock. Aiden came in. “You look wonderful my darling”, he smiled at his daughter. Anna smiled and twirled in her dark blue dress. “Now if you’re ready, your carriage is waiting”. Anna all but ran out of the room, her mother chasing behind her with a cloak she forgot, while Aiden laughed at his family antics.

Sato Residence

Anna stepped gracefully out of her families’ carriage, making her way to the Sato residence. It was built in an Asian architect style, even though it was stationed in London. The outside was grand and elegant, she marveled at the gardens beside the mansion. She stepped through the archway, and was greeted by a butler who took her dark gray cloak. Following a house elf she soon entered the ballroom. At the door she was greeted by a boy she already seen around Hogwarts, he was quite tall and he greeted her welcoming her to his family ball. “Thank you for having me. I must say, both the interior and exterior are magnificent”. She added some small talk, while raising her chin slightly and not looking past the boy, otherwise it would seem like she was looking up at him, which wasn’t ideal in situations like these. Instead she mimicked her mother, and her way of looking down on people who were taller than her. With a subtle nod she continued into the room.

She knew only one person in there, even though there were quite a few people already mingling around, he was Damion White, and she met him at Hogwarts. She’d have to go up to him a bit later, it would be rude to not greet him. But she noticed two girls she never even saw before, so she decided to greet them first, to make connections. She also made a mental note that she was the youngest one here. That could either work in her favor or destroy her.

“Good evening”, she gave a light nod to the two girls, “My name is Anna Blackrose, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance”.

Today was going to be truly exhausting. Attending two balls in one night was tough as it was but attending it with her grandparents and each of them taking place in a different country? Now that was just plain torture. Well at least she attended them with her friend. Eun-ji was truly glad to have Kim there and she even allowed herself to relax a little once they finally decided to head back to England. Surely, his event would be much less draining considering the location and the fact that she might see more familiar faces in the crowd...

The journey back was relatively quick. They just had to stop at their hotel room to change clothes. The Ravenclaw could tell her grandparents were still somewhat displeased by her choice of attire but she honestly couldn’t care less. The black and blue hanfu decorated with white embroidery looked beautiful and she was bewitched the moment she laid eyes on it in the store. It would also fit the aesthetic of Kim’s home quite well. This would be her first visit to Taohuayuan Mansion but she knew it was built in an Asian style at least. She was looking forward to seeing it for the first time.

When the four of them finally emerged from the fireplace, Eun-ji took a moment to look around. It was a stunning place for sure and her grandparents seemed equally impressed. Surprisingly, they were not first to arrive but it was not too bad. Since the event was only starting, the place wasn’t overcrowded. However, this also meant the hosts were still busy with some last minute preparations. At last, a beautiful woman, whom Eun-ji assumed to be Kim’s mother, came to greet them. Eun-ji only had time to bow in greeting before she had to run along again. Hosting events like this couldn’t have been fun. The witch wondered why purebloods enjoyed doing it so often. Was showing off really worth so much effort? She was glad to simply be here as a guest.

Following Kim into the ballroom, the girl listened to all his explanations carefully. “Alright, I’ll keep that in mind.” She looked around then. “It seems Charles is not here yet. Let's let each other know if we spot him, okay?” She said with a smile. It was clear her friend couldn’t hang out with her here for much longer. Even if he didn’t need to help, which she doubted, he had to report to his family at least. “I’ll see you around.” She added with an encouraging smile. Her grandparents smiled too and once again thanked the Gryffindor for having them before letting him go. “Well, you know what to do, don’t you?” Anemone turned to her now that they were alone once again. Eun-ji sighed, already feeling exhausted. “Mingle as much as possible.” She answered with a sigh. “Watch your tone, young lady.” Her grandfather reprimanded her coldly. How many times had he done that tonight? She was not really misbehaving yet he never missed an opportunity to “put her in her place”. The witch nodded no longer trusting herself to speak. “Alright, we are going to talk to some people as well but we’ll be watching you so don’t disappoint us, okay?” The older woman received another nod in return. Thankfully, it seemed to be enough for her.

Finally alone, Eun-ji picked up a drink and looked around. Her eyes darted towards a boy that was wearing a traditional Chinese outfit as well. She did not know him but she could definitely appreciate his taste. Inspecting the crowd further, she had to frown when she noticed one of the boys was accompanied by a cat. The owner looked older than her and she wasn’t entirely sure if they met before but that was not important. The important thing was that Kim was allergic to cats. The Ravenclaw loved all animals and her own cat followed her almost everywhere but she’d never bring him to such big event. Should she tell the boy? What if he thought she was criticizing him? Her grandparents would kill her if she offended someone here. Perhaps I should at least warn Kim. The boy in question was currently busy greeting quests however and so she decided to wait.

The next familiar face she spotted was Damion. Oh… Had she known he would be here, she would have told Dylan. Should I tell him about the encounter? Honestly, her housemate looked like the most pleasant companion right now but she was still hesitant to approach him. She’d tell him she just met his friend and then what? Though they were both Kim’s friends and they both liked cooking, the two Ravenclaws never really talked to each other properly. It felt somewhat strange to approach him after four years. Besides, what if he came here with somebody? Why isn’t Charles here yet? This would have been so much easier if he showed up. There would be no need to talk to strangers then…or well... at least not alone. Sighing again, she took another sip of her drink. She could stall for a few more moments, right?

Dylan had just come back from the other Yule Ball. He was happy that he had decided to go around seeing how the balls were happening. Damion had told him about the Sato Yule Ball. Dylan was sure he was going to be a little late for the Sato Yule Ball but he wanted to make it. He wanted to be there for as many things as he could. Well as many was humanly possible.

Dylan walked into the room and spotted Damion immediately. He walked to the confused little boy. "And here I was hoping you'd know where you are Dami." Dylan said with a laugh. He noticed that Damion almost immediately turned to look at Dylan. Damion hugged Dylan and laughed. "Well I am allowed to be confused." Damion replied. All Dylan could do was shake his head.

"So you have a crush on this younger boy who is going to be in this party?" Dylan inquire. Damion almost immediately blushed and nodded his head. "Figures why you were so excited about coming here." Dylan teased Damion. "Oh shut up!" Damion said pushing his friend's hand away playfully. "His name is Kim Aoki. He is a second year Gryffindor Student." Damion told Dylan. Dylan looked at Damion and smiled. He noticed someone from the other ball he had been too. "Excuse me Damion. I'll be back." He said as he walked to Eun-ji. "Hello Eun-ji. Good to see you again." he said with a smile.

Calming Presence in Effect (Allies Pending)
With a broad grin as Piérre finally slowed down and let the rainbow colored coat flutter about him before coming to a rest, the sixteen-guised fourteen year old brushed his fingertips across the newly 'grown' facial hair beneath his nose as his green eyes twinkled with amusement. Finally glancing around for the first time, the boy became aware of more than a few pairs of eyes on him. Perhaps some were not amused with his little display of excitement, or perhaps they weren't impressed with the fact that he had violated their precious dress code.

Still, the room wasn't quite crowded enough for him not to notice the edges of the room; one of the most favored places for the boy to look whenever he was scouting for emo troublemakers. There was indeed an odd face in the crowd with someone who looked almost family-like for how frequently Piérre had been seeing him these past few months. Of course, this person that Piérre had noted was Valentin... but he wasn't entirely familiar with the other boy that was with him; a boy with slanted features and dressed in definitively Asiatic clothes. Tugging on the multicolored suit, Piérre tipped his head ever so slightly as he rocked on the balls of his feet to give the illusion that he was only a spare few inches taller than he actually was. Eyes narrowed ever so slightly in suspicious curiosity as he slipped in behind a small clump of incoming people, attempting to blend himself into their crowd as he intended to observe (and hopefully overhear) the conversation between the two foreign students via the use of his social chamelion-like nature (Cat's Grace 'Hide' ability used).

After all, one of them had a close relationship with his brother if only in the most professional of senses. Of course he cared enough about his twin to ensure that those that he cared about were in an okay-ish state. The presence of the other boy was a curiosity to him, though... Was he another member of the Durmstrang Quidditch team? A new recruit, potentially? Had Valentin even seen them come in? How long had he been there?

Call him curious, but curiosity was what always ensnared the cat. It was what made life worthwhile, to be honest.

Nearby, a small group of partygoers partaking in what was likely some sort of alcoholic beverage laughed lightly in that weird cliché way that made it quite obvious that there was no humor to their amusement. Piérre's head snapped in their direction only for a microsecond before refocusing on the actual curiosity. As it was, the boy had attempted to blend into a rather small clump of partygoers, mixing quite well with individuals who looked only a few years his senior, with the oldest probably being only thirty years at the youngest. There were certainly more middle-aged individuals around... but Piérre had chosen this group because of the younger median age. He looked like he belonged here more than anywhere else of his choice.

Green eyes would observe the correspondence between the two foreign students, and though the boy laughed when the group around him laughed at tasteless jokes and political mentions, there was no mirth in the eyes of Piérre; eyes that were focused on the two students his age just over the shoulder of the person most vocal in his little pod. With a smile slowly dissolving into a frown, Piérre snapped his fingers twice to catch Figaro's attention, then flicked his fingers towards the easily-visible Romeo in the sea of shorter folk. "Osservare; Gemello. Observe/Scout; Twin." He whispered out of the corner of his mouth towards the little bengal.

With a recognizing purr, the cat trotted off to return to Romeo's side, vanishing from Piérre's immediate sight as the cat entered the crowd; intent on his quest.

That was fine. Figaro was a good boy.

Piérre had more pressing matters to worry about.

Ginyami missed me, too? pondered Valentin. Even after all these days alone, he has not moved on…? What if, what if all those things we said… could actually grow real? Can I allow myself to hope for such a crazy dream, to have my longing satisfied for days, weeks, years on end; happy, together, unified beyond the limits of convention? Can I gather the courage to face the possibility of grasping my heart’s desire, if only… if only… what? What need I do to make my own dream come true instead of being forever only the wishing star of others? I just… That’s what it is. I still don’t know how to take what I want. I don’t believe I should, as if the calamity of my ancestors will destroy everything I love if I let myself claim what I wish were only mine. See how much devastation I wrought by asking Romeo – such greed is destructive.

Yet, the familiar scent of Ginyami’s skin drew the seeker in, sweeter than ever and glimmering under the fear that this might be the last time. Valya did not want to die, nor did he want to lose the fox after letting himself get lost in the expanse of the black-eyed boy. Their countries had not grown closer together, but… Valentin hated limits. He couldn’t stand the idea that something as traversable as distance should keep people apart. The only thing that should is lack of interest, like Romeo has for me. His appearance tonight proves he does not choose my company. Yet, here in my arms, shines a beautiful soul who said he wants all those ideals we spoke of… It would be easier if Ginyami himself took me for his one and only, but how could he when there is always so much distance between us in space and time? Still, that is running from the problem again. The problem is me, living only for the wishes of others. Everyone else sees it, and yet… I don’t know why to stop.

Ginyami’s voice broke the silence, pushing again to understand what had happened to Valya. He clearly wanted to know and was not merely being polite. Valentin would not fail to answer, whispering in his ear before the Mahoutokoro pulled back to look him over. It would not take keen eyes to notice the streak of ash across Valentin’s face, but overshadowed by his wild hair peeked a red scrape and slash at the back of his cheek, signaling recent head injury. From inside the deep neck of his white shirt, Valentin’s chest also bore sign of recent trauma incurred without cover. His clothes carried the smell of burnt paper despite appearing otherwise clean, and a small gash on his mouth showed that his lip had recently split under great force. Valentin spoke quietly enough that only someone really trying to listen in on the conversation would have been able to understand his rapid English.

“Most of it happened within the last day, yes, although the fraud occurred across several days without my knowledge. I was hurt, but mostly by the burning and collapse of my father’s tower. Those injuries are my fault, and one could say that no person is actually a threat to my life… but my gut says otherwise for reasons I can’t begin to understand. Maybe I'm just paranoid, though.” Valentin looked down at his right palm, knowing full well that removing the gloves would reveal the severity of the frostbite he had yet to fully recover from. “My leg got the worst of it, since I took a couple of flaming beams, but I’ve mostly recovered. What’s left is mostly cosmetic and should pass with time. Don’t worry about those, kaderlem.” Valentin put one hand on his hip as he smiled at the look on Ginyami’s face.

“As for my father… I wonder if he is in danger and if he is precisely the threat. Why is it that only days after his escape, his tower burned to ash? Why would he do that? It just doesn’t make any sense. Yet, who else would be able to get past our security and have a reason to reduce the tower to ruins? It was cordoned off to everyone specifically to keep it in the exact layout it was in on the Christmas he was taken– there should have been no fire hazard.” Valentin rolled up one sleeve and exposed a bit of burned flesh while he pulled a note from a hidden pocket near his elbow. Passing the slip of scorched paper to Ginyami, Valentin rolled up his other sleeve in order to maintain symmetry. It would take a keen eye or an otherwise highly observant onlooker to spy the words scrawled on the paper, but they were conveniently written in English. Valentin didn’t even have to translate from German.

Reducio

Son,

Please come immediately to the address below and tell no one you received this. It is a ma–

[illegible]

I know I can count on you, Valenka.

- Hugo

“So you see, it would be rather unpleasant to go back to the Estate tonight just to overlook the ruins of my father’s tower. It may not be safe to return, even, so I was hoping to stay the night here and in the morning go to this German address, which is where I lived in my earliest childhood. There’s just one issue… look at this…” Valentin came around to Ginyami’s side in order to see the paper from the same angle. Pointing at the word “Valenka,” Valentin tapped his finger twice in emphasis. “People have all kinds of nicknames for me. Russian has many short-form names, the way English makes names like ‘Johnny’ and ‘John’ from ‘Jonathan.’ I could call you ‘Yamushka,’ for example, as a more affectionate name. As Valentin, many friends call me ‘Valya,’ but there are many other ways people choose from themselves. Valik, Valyusha, Valka, and, you see here, Valenka. My father always called me either Valka or Valentin, nothing else. This letter may be a fake.” After nodding in thought, Valentin’s eyes locked with Ginyami’s. He placed one hand over the other boy’s on his bicep and squeezed as emotion began to line the corners of his face again.

“I have to get to the bottom of this. Ginyami, it’s my great joy to see you this evening in part because… I want to at least have another night in your company before dealing with this…” especially if this ends up being my last…

Open to interactions.

Roleplaying as Ginyami Midorimori from Mahoutokoro
"English | Japanese"
The evidence of the injuries from the fire were obvious once Ginyami looked for them and it was a wonder to him that he hadn't noticed them in the first place. Like at the dinner after the first Hexwizard Task, he wished he had had a potion or something to heal Valentin with. He couldn't even use his wand this time due to the ban on underage magic when one wasn't at school.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, though.”

"Your fault?" he repeated, the skin between his brows growing pinched in distress. "Why are they your fault?" Pinching the bridge of his nose, he took a breath and closed his eyes before continuing. "Valentin...please do not tell me you were reckless enough to go into a burning building." He thought he knew the truth, though, even if Valentin didn't say it. At this rate, if anyone wanted him dead, it didn't seem like they would have to do much to achieve their goal.

Flaming beams?! The story just kept getting better and better. When he opened his eyes, he glanced away, unable to look at Valentin out of anger for his foolishness. The word 'karderlem' tugged on his hearstrings, particularly because he knew what it meant now, but it did little to relieve the pain in his voice when he spoke again. In fact, if anything, it intensified it. "Do you care nothing for your own life? You could have been much more seriously hurt. Or worse!"

He frowned in confusion when Valentin suggested his father could have been in danger as well as been the threat. The alabaster youth was right; it didn't make sense. Could it have been true nevertheless? But why?

Ginyami inhaled sharply at the sight of Valentin's burned flesh when he rolled up one sleeve, so distracted by it that at first he didn't see what the other boy had pulled out. Once he noticed what was left of the damaged paper held out to him, however, he accepted it carefully and tried to read it as best he could. It didn't take long, for there was not much left that was legible, but there was enough to understand the danger. If Valentin did as the letter said, he could have been walking into a trap.

It occurred to the black-haired teen that, despite the letter telling him to tell no one that he received it, Valentin had chosen to tell him anyway. For that, Ginyami was grateful. At least if the thrill seeker would not look out for himself, Ginyami could. Looking up from the charred slip of paper, he listened to Valentin explain that he would spend the night there at the Satos' mansion and go to the address in Germany in the morning. He also heard him mention how the use of the short-form name, 'Valenka', was suspicious, and his pulse quickened gradually throughout it all.

"There is no way I can go with you, is there? Or that anyone else can?" he asked, having a feeling he already knew the answer. He could see it in the expression on Valentin's face as the ivory statue of a boy looked at him and squeezed his hand. The letter had given very specific instructions for him to come alone, and while Valentin hadn't listened to it about telling no one else, it would be harder to disobey that particular order without the sender of the letter knowing. Still, the way Valentin was going about this - the way he spoke as if this would be their last chance to spend time in each other's presence - severely disconcerted Ginyami.

"At least allow me a copy of the address," he pleaded, trying to swallow the mix of emotions that tightened up his throat. "That way if...if something happens, I will know where to find you."

How had I convinced my parents to let me come? I had no idea. Perhaps they were just glad to be rid of me, if only for a night. Somehow I had managed to find a dress for the occasion, a midnight blue ombré effect dress, one that reached the floor daintily and made me look as though I were floating. I had found combs in my step-mother’s things and had managed to pin my hair into an elaborate yes casual looking bun.

***

As I walked up to the house and timidly knocked on the heavy door, I felt as though I were intruding on the night of the many who had already arrived. I noticed right away that I seemed to be the youngest guest here by far. I recognized most as fourth years, and even the occasional fifth year among them. I considered leaving, but it would seem timid to flight now. I only hoped I would find someone my age. With my left hand I fingered a letter that my roommate had sent ahead. It described her a sense, and apologized for leaving me alone without her.

“Dearest Roommate,” it read. “I’m apologize to say that I will not be able to attend the Sato Yule Ball. A family issue has arisen and I need to be home to take care of it.” And that was it. I was all alone, stuck at a ball for purebloods and pretending I had even a drop of the correct blood running through my veins. I needed to find Kim and explain my situation, before everyone arrived. Show him the letter and let him sort it all out. Until then, I needed to look natural. Pretend I belonged here. I knew Kim would stand out by his hair color, if only I could find him.

The house was huge. One of the biggest, most expensive I had ever seen. The rooms themselves must cost a fortune, nevermind the many structures and waterways outside. It was no surprise the Sato name has been in my reading material more than once. No, this family was highstanding. Maybe not on top, but close to it. Maybe higher than most thought.

I had only two bags with me, for I had been planning to stay overnight, but I wasn’t so sure anymore. I had given them to the butler at the main doorway, and heaven knows what happened to them after that. Now I was trailing after the house elf (I presumed that was what this small creature was) into the main ballroom.

Eun-ji was still considering what to do when she noticed someone else approaching Damion. Oh? Isn’t that...? She really didn’t think anybody else here would have such crazy schedule as she and Kim did tonight. Then again, Dylan said he and Damion were childhood friends, which was apparent from their interaction, so it made sense that the Durmstrang student would want to be here. The witch couldn’t hear what was being said and she was not someone to meddle in other people’s affairs so she decided not to approach the two. It was not her place to interrupt their conversation. Then what should I do? It wouldn’t be long before her grandparents noticed the lack of her effort to socialize and she would no doubt get a lecture about that. Eun-ji was lucky they left her alone for now and she really wanted to keep it that way…

To her surprise, it was she, who ended up being approached in the end. It seemed Dylan noticed her standing nearby even as he was talking to his friend. “Dylan, it’s nice to see you too. I didn’t think anybody else would move here from the Virtanen ball.” The Ravenclaw greeted the boy with a smile. “You must be tired.” She knew she was…although that might have been her grandparents’ fault. They had a knack for sucking up all of her energy whenever they were around. “You came to see Damion I suppose? I didn’t know he would be here otherwise I would have mentioned it back then.” She said apologetically. This much was true. Apart from Kim and Charles, Eun-ji honestly didn’t bother finding out, who else would be attending The Sato’s Yule ball. As long as she wouldn’t bump into Lucia, she couldn’t care less. This was nice though. Dylan seemed like a very likeable young man and they already spoke before so it was much easier than talking to a complete stranger. It was rather pleasant actually. He probably wouldn’t stick around for too long since Damion was here but she’d take what she could get. Perhaps Charles would appear afterwards and she could avoid any awkward mingling altogether. That would be nice.

“…But Yamushka, Sergei was up there. I dragged him out so that he wouldn’t die fighting the flames…” Under Ginyami’s scolding this time, however, Valentin looked ashamed – it wasn’t the first time the raven-haired boy was right about his risk taking. Still, bold behavior was one thing in quidditch or Hexiwizard when medics stood by at the ready, but what he was getting into now made even the Hell-Chaser worried.

"Do you care nothing for your own life? You could have been much more seriously hurt. Or worse!"

“Yami,” tried Valentin. “I’m… not sure where the line is. I’ve trained all my life to push the limits of what’s safe and acceptable, but… I know you’re right at some point. There are real limitations to my abilities and understanding. I feel the intense sensations of my own mortality even now.” Grasping Ginyami’s hands, Valentin’s eyes glistened with turbulence. Was this the last night he could hold them? Would tonight mark the extent to which Valentin could live out his dreams? “What I do know is this: there are others who haven’t lived the seeker life of being a permanent target, weaker people who can’t take care of themselves so well, and if I can just do a good job, I… can use my skills to become like a lightning rod for others. I’m not perfect, but if I can take on the pain and danger for those who wouldn’t survive it – standing tall enough to absorb the worst shocks that would devastate people around me – then much more is gained overall. Yes, people need to take on danger so that they can grow strong and vibrant, but the person with the survival skills should take on the severest threats. I can’t say I’m sorry to you for going into that burning tower because I’m glad that Sergei is alive now. However, I will try to listen to you about where you think the limits are. You’re smart and I need you to help me. We’re a team now; we agreed on this. It’s my duty to learn from you or else your fear will be right and I’d be throwing my chance away to make your dreams come true. Please be patient with me, Yamushka. I promise I won’t throw my life away on a whim. Help me learn when and how to push it, please.”

Valentin went on to provide Ginyami the suspicious note and explain his plans, but the Japanese boy sensed what was coming.

"There is no way I can go with you, is there? Or that anyone else can?"

Shaking his head, Valentin tapped the note once more.

“If it is my father, or someone with any significant skill, they are sure to know if I bring someone. At this point my lead would vanish and I would never be trusted again. If that happened then the lack of understanding would put me and my people at even greater risk. Burning down part of the estate and committing account fraud is one thing, but this could escalate, especially if they are angry at me for betraying their confidence. I’m sure you understand this must be kept a complete secret from everyone, including your staff. I’ll make you a more legible copy of this address in case something goes wrong, though. I’ve even sent it to a friend and Sergei knows that I intend to go back to Germany. Still, you’re the only one I’ve shown this note, and you’re the only one who understands the severity of the situation. Please, Ginyami, you must let me go alone. Not only could bringing you make me lose sanity and safety by losing my chance at grasping what’s going on, but I can’t afford to put you at threat either. It’s dangerous to be around me. Do you remember when I promised I would make it safe for us? It’s not time yet. Let me clear away this matter so that one day we can have what we spoke of before. Please trust me. All I need is someone to return to, and then I will be sure to survive anything that happens.”
Open to interactions.

The room was filling up with more and more guest and Astrid was watching all of them, talking to her sister at the same time. They talk about classes, Quidditch, Viktoria's passion for mushrooms, their impatience to see their family for New Year... Astrid's gaze drifted to Valentin and the Mahoutokoro boy. The white haired boy looked... Well he looked like he was talking about a serious topic with the other boy. The girl thought of going to see what was going on over there when a girl, one or two years younger than Astrid approached.
She was probably from Hogwarts, and definitly from a high class family. Her black hair was sprinkled with white glitters and she was wearing a knee-lenght dark blue dress. When the girl introduced herself, Astrid wondered why she was using those words. Like, even if Viktoria was almost an adult, the assembly was mostly teens. And the blond wasn't used to speak "high-class" english.
Nice to meet you, Anna. I'm Astrid Olsen and this is my sister, Viktoria.
Viktoria noded with a polite smile. Both girl weren't used at all to small talk and these kind of parties. When they were with family, Viktoria was talking plants with their aunt, Astrid, Hugo and other cousins were talking sports or organizing all kind of contests. They all knew each other for a very long time so there was to akward moment like this moment felt for Astrid. And even when she wasn't with family, she could talk in Norwegian or Russian, two languages that she was more fluent with.
