Between Zero and Infinity
‘You interested in wand lore, Ashely Dinero Montez?’ Cynthia whipped out her own wand and stretched it towards the boy. ‘Can you tell my wand wood? Or even better, if I cast a spell, would you know my wand core? If I let my touch it, would you know the flexibility?’ Really though Cynthia was just interested to see whether he could do it. Walnut was quite common, but White River Monster Spine? Too rare and expensive for most wizards… how could he ever guess? ‘What do you know? What can my wand do I that don’t know about?’
Cynthia smirked as Ashley proposed a duel that she duel with the fourth year wix. But they beat her to it. ‘Indeed, I have to agree with Aida on this one; no modesty involved. I’m just a first year. Aida is a fourth year. They have the knowledge, the strategy, and the movements…. However, I suppose that you like watching other people lost more than you like to lost yourself. Don’t worry though, who likes to lose?’ She liked the idea of duelling Ashley; she was pretty sure she could win that one. ‘Very good idea Aida; thank you for suggesting that.’ She turned her gaze towards Ashley, and for a while her obsidian black eyes seemed to frost over. ‘By the way, Ashley, please don’t call me Thea; only my friends get to call me that. You’re still on the waitlist.’ That was mostly said to avoid conflict; Ashley was probably never going to be her friend. Or would it change? Or even maybe a frenemy relationship? The future was still unclear between the two Eagles.
‘Ashley Dinero Montez,’ Cynthia said, her tone serious and hard. ‘Do you accept my challenge to duel?’ In a proper duel, the person who accepts would raise their wand to their nose in acceptation. Then, the real fun begins.
OOC note: Ashley, I cannot find a valid reason for Thea to like you at the moment, but we can arrange a meeting outside the club. I also understand, OOC, the reason you’re not duelling Thea is because you have no duelling spells in your trunk

Spoken Words:X|Thoughts: X
He remarked, "I see."
He heard Thea ask, "You interested in wand lore, Ashely Dinero Montez?" as he turned to face her. The boy sighed. "I'm not very interested in wand lore; I just like to understand how things work. I am not irrational." His final remark sounded lethal.
It came as no surprise that Thea despised Ashley at the time, and it was difficult to predict what their future might bring.‘Can you tell my wand wood? Or even better, if I cast a spell, would you know my wand core? If I let my touch it, would you know the flexibility?’. The boy decided to remain silent. Although he was aware of what it was, he chose to appear calm and quite in order to prevent unnecessary commotion.
‘Ashley Dinero Montez, Do you accept my challenge to duel?. Then Ashley sighed.
'No, Thea,' Even though they might not have been friends, he insisted on referring to her as Thea. He didn't see any justification for a confrontation with Cynthia at the time, and he didn't think he should be terrified of her either. The young man is easily not intimidated no matter who he encounters, therefore people should know better and who to frighten. His demeanor and look said everything. He turned to face Thea as he stated before turning to go.
"Don't get too excited." As he left the area, he diabolically chuckled softly while smirking.

So Ashley was the type to get to the point, concluded Aida. At least his efficiency could be respected, but the white wix had to wonder exactly how deep his curiosity went. Perhaps he was more of a part- Slytherin than a pure Ravenclaw?
“Well, that happened,” shrugged Aida. Ashley didn't seem like he had to get somewhere in a hurry, so Aida concluded that discussing duelling just wasn’t interesting enough to keep him there for long. Turning to face Cynthia, Aida smiled and put a hand in front of the little owl on the wix’s shoulder. Scheherazade readily stepped onto Aida’s hand and held on with relaxed but stable talons as the slender white arm extended towards the younger Ravenclaw. “I think ZaZa understands about Brownie now. Don’t worry. They might even make decent friends.” The beast master giggled as the desert tawny owl rotated its head to lock firey eyes onto Thea’s.
“ZaZa does like affection, and I get the feeling we can trust you. Oh, and I think you’re pretty brave. Are you sure you’re not part-Gryffindor?” Aida’s indigo eyes twinkled with quiet humor, beaming directly back at Cynthia with a boldness that suggested the observation was based on personal experience. “Try some gentle scratches, like around her ears and neck. Do you figure Brownie will be too scared to come out to visit?”
