A Whole New World
Harris beamed at the question. Niamh seemed really interested in his girls! "Yeah! I actually raised all four of them up from chick and ducklings to them now! They were all so fluffy and small! The ducks were all that classic duckling yellow and Mimsy was yellow with these brownish markings allover. They were so cute! They still are now, but they're a lot bigger. And louder," Harris let out a small laugh. It was true. When the flock was little, they only used to make soft cheeping noises. Now that they were all full-grown birds, they were all much louder. And they woke up at the very crack of dawn, which eventually led to Harris becoming an early bird for the real birds' sakes.
Niamh had raised a good question, weren't purebloods and wizard-borns the same thing? It was strange. He probably wouldn't have questioned it if Kathy hadn't been so adamant that she wasn't a pureblood. Harris grabbed a bean as he thought. Was it a good idea to just eat it? Or should he be cautious like he was with the first. This bean was a chocolate brown. Hopeful that meant it was chocolate. With a slight shrug, he tossed the bean into his mouth. He was right! Chocolate! It wasn't some sad chocolate flavor like some muggle candies had, but an actual rich chocolatey flavor that melted in your mouth! These little beans were really interesting. Horseradish, and then chocolate? It was so much more fun and random than the muggle candy he had at home. Kasey would probably love these! Was he allowed to take wizard candy home? Probably.

Prior to the situation getting heated up, Kathy took the free rein to talk first. It was genuinely interesting to listen about Harris's pets and family. As the question materialized about pets and spells, Kathy answered it in a straightforward demeanor, "Well, as my dad is the caretaker of magical creatures, I have a Hippogriff as my pet. But the point, you are not authorised to keep them with you in home. So, basically when I go to my dad's caretakers place, I am able to see numerous magical creatures. But I didn't like anyone of them to be candid, only the silver-grey Hippogriff was my type." She paused again, and ate a bean herself, this time it was cranberry, hopefully.
"About the typical pets which you can buy in Diagon Alley, there are rabbits, pygmy puffs, owls, lizards, ferrets, spiders, fish and all sorts - aha, and the snake! But only Parseltongues are allowed to pet them, you see, it's dangerous for ordinary students." She didn't have a great deal to say about spells though, it was something which everyone needs to gain an understanding of, "Well, I only know the name of spells and their etymology, but won't it ruin the gratification of learning them if I tell it from now?"
Kathy smiled, as she herself was getting a lots of questions about both of their's life. Well, Niamh asked Harris about his birds soon after, so there was no need for Kathy to interfere. But then the most crucial question came up from Niamh- what's the contrast between Purebloods and wizard-borns? Well, finally a reasonable question for Kathy, "Like you see, when Muggles become wizards and give birth to another wizard- they are called wizard borns. But when a family who is having a succession of wizards or witches for hundreds of generations with not a single muggle born, they are known as Purebloods - you see, we assert them as pure as there is 0% chance of them being a muggle unlike me." That was kind of brief and understandable, right?, she thought. Maybe it was too much for them to grasp, but there was no easier way for the clarification, all together.
But a question then struck Kathy, what is online livestream? Niamh saw chicks there? It is a kind of Muggle zoo or something? "Hey Niamh, where is the livestream online?"

"They sound cute! Do they wake you up really early or is it just roosters who do that?" Niamh questioned eagerly. She had a neighbor who owned roosters a few houses over so every morning she heard their squawking and cockadoodledoo-ing at the crack of dawn. Typically, she just pulled the covers back over her head and tried to drown them out. There was no way she would get up before 8 in the morning unless she absolutely had to.
Like today, for instance. The plane from Limerick to Heathrow left at the stupid hour of 7 in the morning which meant she had to get to the airport by 5 and, therefore, be awake by 4 in the morning. According to her father, that was. (The roosters hadn't even gotten up by then.) Whether she really had to wait around in the tiny terminal, snacking on a raspberry scone for an hour was debatable. Niamh would have much rather gone for another hour of sleep and a little bit more rushing around over that.
Yep, she was right about the formal language bit. Niamh mentally noted. "A Hippogriff?" she remarked, "So like a cross between a hippo and a griffin?" The young witch tried to imagine such an animal. It would probably be big and have a round belly because of the hippo part. Maybe it had a griffin head and wings? She chuckled to herself at the thought.
"I understand now. They sound very posh," she commented with a slight edge to her voice. What was so bad about muggle lineage? Both Harris and Kathy had it and they seemed like perfectly good people. Plenty of plain muggles were good people. The concept of tracing one's lineage back so long to ascertain that there are no muggle ancestors sounded absolutely ridiculous to the young witch. "Have none of them ever fallen in love with a muggle before?"
"You go to Youtube and watch it on your computer or phone. I don't have a phone yet because my mom says I'm too young and irresponsible so I watched the stream on my computer," she explained. How did someone who wasn't, like, totally ancient not know what a livestream was? Even Mrs. O'Leary from the shoe shop knew and that woman was pushing 80 for sure. Oh wait! Wizards didn't have technology. She remembered the professor telling her. She had been warned not to bring any personal electronic devices to the school as they would not work.

"They do wake up early, but I think that's just because they're birds. I haven't met a bird that doesn't wake up with the sun," Harris laughed a bit to himself, recalling the times Kasey stumbled out of his room, complaining that the birds were disturbing his sleep.
"Wait- Hippogriffs are real?" Harris squeaked. He turned to Niamh. "They're a mix between a horse and an eagle. But I thought those were just myths and stuff!" Animals, magical or not, could always capture Harris's interest. "Does that mean unicorns and dragons are too? How come muggles never see them?" If these creatures were anything like in myths, at least some of them had to be large creatures, bigger than buildings, with the ability to do a lot of damage if it came down to that. If dragons were real, could you keep one as a pet as well? How much begging would he have to do if he wanted to keep a dragon as a pet? Were there small dragons? Also- "What's a pygmy puff?" They kind of sounded like the puffles from Club Penguin. He had never played the game himself, but Kasey had. He used to brag all the time about how cool his rainbow puffle was and how no one else in the house had one. He stopped bragging when Dustin bought one just out of spite.
How weird was it that some wizards didn't have a single muggle in their heritage? How was something like that even possible? Did some wizards just never talk to muggles? It would probably be easier to keep the secret of magic a secret, but still. Isn't something like that rather hard to do?

Kathy bobed, still bewildered with Niamh's clarification. She didn't query any more cross-examines as she was afraid that she might make herself look like a halfwit infront of her newly made friends. In the meantime, Harris too got engrossed with the gossips. Shortly the compelling topic came up, dragons and unicorns. "They are of course verifiable! They are not mythical as we are in the occult world already. The Ministry of magic takes quite a lot of measures to keep them concealed from the Muggles."
Kathy rummaged through her bag once more, this time taking out an emerald, green book. It was a volume which her father gifted to her at her 8th birthday. It disclosed all types of pets alongside their pictures with a stubby elucidation about them, also counting Mr. Ortiz's own professionalism while caretaking them. Kathy admired it very much, learning about them wasn't that substandard, after all.
She popped yet another bean in her cakehole, this time it was ham flavored, quite a manageable and unique taste. Harris then asked about the Pygmy Puffs and Kathy got enthusiastic again, "Ohh- they are the fluffy ones, with endearing glint eyes. I might not be able to explain it well, but you should probably see these!"
Kathy titled her book towards him, the page hinting at the countless pictures of the Pygmy Puffs. "To be honest, I have never descried one except from the book delineation. Sir said that they are quite sensitive to outsiders."
She did state her dad as sir, which was the dominion for every elegant Ortiz child. It was a stern one, which she was really cautious of as she can get tender retribution for it, unlike Amanda as habitual.
Straight away the compartment door unlatched, agitating her thoughts at once. She glanced towards the aperture to perceive the trolley witch smiling at them with the food tray, permeated with mouth-watering desserts. "Want something to devour yet? For first years like you three, I would really commend to try this, won't it be a part of your new experience too, huh?", the trolley witch stated.
"Sure, I would like Pumpkin Pasties, Licorice Wands and Drooble's best blowing gum, three for each please. And 15 chocolate frogs too!"
"Quality choice. Here you go." The trolley witch beamed, handing over the ordered food to Kathy. She grinned back and recompensed her the money.
"You want to sample some?" Kathy supplicated, eagerly peering at her friends.
