The group of Slytherin students had been called, prefects making rounds and barking orders, and generally disrupting personal time. In fact, Sebastian had been right in the middle of some additional study, but now here he was being led through the chill toward an even colder lake.

Walking across the grounds, silver-blue eyes half paying attention on the trek, Sebastian began thinking over the spell book he had been reading. There were certainly some intriguing uses for magic, and some charms and jinxes that were coming up in lessons would be very, very useful - especially in duels.

After around ten minutes walking, Sebastian stopped near the lake, milling with the other students of Slytherin. The Irish boy watched, one eyebrow raised as a number of students immediately rushed for nearby boats waiting on the waters edge. Part of him wondered why they weren't waiting for instructions, but Sebastian didn't say anything, simply letting others do as they may.

Staying in place, with a few other Slytherin, Sebastian instead pulled his robes tighter around himself, the night air potentially unpleasant should it start getting colder. Granted the winters in Ireland weren't exactly warm, but there seemed to be far colder nights at Hogwarts.

I wonder what the Head of House has planned, Sebastian thought to himself, glancing toward the gathered Professors. A boat ride on a lake as a reward for winning the house cup? Surely a little more effort has gone into whatever this is.

Sebastian waited, crossing his arms as he thought of what might have been in mind for the evening...

Anastasia had been so excited when she heard Slytherin had won the house cup this month. And even better Leonie and some if the other Slytherin professors had planned a special event for the students in Slytherin. Her friend Isabella had informed them about it and was just as excited. She, of course made sure that she was early and had got a boat partner early. Leaving her with no choice, Anastasia decided that Leola would have to be her partner.

She grabbed her wrist and dragged her out by the Great Lake. Your my boat partner! she announced catching her breath from being so excited. She had a huge smile in her face and the weather was even cooperating today and the sun was shining.

The lake was still and only the giant squid could be seen gracefully gliding across the water. Hope I don't fall in.. this put her off a little bit but although falling in frightened her slightly she was still excited. I do hope we're doing something fun? she asked herself. Ha! Of course we are she thought stupidly.

A reward for first years: a boat ride on the lake at night. It seemed simple enough, if not deceptively romantic. The preteen had only fledgling concepts of romance, an endeavor she had no reason to pursue on this evening or any night in the near future. It was not a lack of capacity, but rather a lack of interest. If anything, she had already found her anticipated paramour in Durmstrang [Reference: Serena Tower's brother]. Not that she had met him yet, nor had he ever even heard of her, but she saw a kindred spirit in his words. She would make him hers.

The air was brisk, at least in comparison to the daytime and strangely enough it felt like home. She liked it. She took in a lungful of the cool, moist air. She could smell the lake. There was something about the water that put her uncharacteristically at ease. The meandering path led her to the muddy shoreline. The sky was reflected in still waters and boats silently bobbed in the water. Lanterns lit the moored vessels, their flames flickered as they danced playfully.

And the indigo-haired first year Slytherin smiled.

Happiness was often found in the little things. A bauble, a word, a time or in her case a place. That is, until today. Events in Hogwarts often foreshadowed disaster and with that likely one of the vestiges humanity in her than remained. Erin was dressed simply for this excursion, a pair of heavy black boots, a pair of darkwash blue jeans, a white tank and of course over that her Slytherin robes. She found the material warm, in fact too warm when she was in the castle but at the water's edge the lake-effect chill caused a slight shiver. She was not afraid of the cold or the dark or the blackened lake. Why should she, everything was the loveliest at this time.

Some of the students had already run ahead, many of them partnered or at the very least decided that they should be partnered with someone. She was never directed so she stood at the water's edge, her boots heavy with mud. Her cool gaze would land on each of the pairings already made. Many of them were obvious - a hopeful inamorata/inamorato or a boon companion. She had none of those, the Prefect was correct -- she had no friends. The sentiment gave her mixed emotions of course, companionship was something that everyone desired. Humans are if nothing else a pack animal, even those that relish solitary experiences. It was not that she hated people, it was that she needed to. It was a source of strength for her. Something that she had to utilize with great care or suffer greatly. That was why she was a Slytherin of course. Always thinking, always aspiring. Peers were threats to goals, subordinates in her house rare and who could respect the other houses?

So she would approach the most dangerous snake she could sense, Leeds.

"Hi, I am Erin."

OC: Need a friend, I cannot promise you a ride you will enjoy but I can promise you one that you will not forget. If someone else with exceptional ambition wishes to step forward and steal his place, so be it. This is Slytherin and for me that is survival of the fittest.

Glen wasn't too sure what to make of this Slytherin House Cup Party. So far the only parties he'd been to had only been birthdays and a school festival or two. That didn't mean that he wasn't curious or that he didn't want to go, just that he wasn't sure what to expect and therefore nervous.
He hadn't really made friends yet but he was looking forward to meeting his housemates outside of the normal lesson-filled days in Hogwarts. A party sure would be interesting (even if it was a bit scary.)

He followed the other Slytherins to the boats and awkwardly looked on as the others split into twos to climb into the row-boats. He wasn't sure who he could ask if they wanted to share a boat. In the end he just decided to stick to an unclaimed one. If someone else still needed a rowing partner, they could join him. Easier than trying to figure out who was already paired up and who wasn't. He wasn't shy really but it couldn't hurt to bide his time and try to get a measure of his housemates first.

Why they took the boats to their party and didn't gather in their common room instead was still a mystery to him but he was quite looking forward to find out what would go down.

"Wait we won," was Blazes first thought as he walked down to the lake. It wasn't that he wasn't excited but if he was being honest it wasn't really the biggest deal to him. "I mean sure winning is cool," he paused as he jumped over a bush and continued walking downwards. "But is it really everything," well it wasn't to Blaze anything but 2nd was good to him. He didn't know why but he hated coming second whatever it was for. His analogy was 'I was so close but not first,' it was weird since he wasn't all about winning. Maybe he was more competitive then he thought, he was Slytherin after all maybe it was his calling? Maybe he was actually an ambitious person.

He shook his head and got back to his senses.
Blaze was proud of himself for once he wasn't quite late for something! He walked towards the group of student that was gathering around a professor. There were a few people Blaze recognized but none were his friends so he didn't feel like talking to any of them. he just walked up to the crowd and stood there waiting or something to happen whatever it might be. "Well, this might be ok... I guess,"

Then he saw the boats. He ran up to them "Ok maybe this will be fun'" he didn't know what the boats were gonna be used for but Blaze had always wanted to be in one, so he knew it would turn out ok. Right?

Angela felt conflicted about Slytherin winning the House Cup. On the one hand, it's great that her and her peers work has been appreciated; it's always nice to win something, after all. On the other, she still didn't feel real connection with her house. She decided to go to the party anyway, if not to celebrate with Slytherins, then at least to just swim through the lake. The incredible boat ride before the sorting ceremony still was glowing in her memory. If this is only half as beautiful, it will be stunning.

When she walked with others towards the lake, she was wondering with whom to pair up. She remembered some people from classes and Slytherin common room, and some of them surely would be great to get to know better. Maybe even to share this precious moment with. The lights on the boats ahead of them promised a truly pretty and special event.

Upon arriving to the lake shore, she noticed that Syrah, the girl from MAAEC, already had a partner. Okay, not her then. Who else is free? She looked around.

Then a bold thought appeared in her head. Isabella Hills, the female prefect, was standing nearby, overseeing Slytherins' slow march. Does she have a pair for a boat? It certainly didn't look so, everyone was just passing right by her and ignoring her completely. Obviously, she was a prefect, of course there were plenty of people who'd want to spend time with her... Maybe she already talked to somebody? Ah, nevermind, just be straightforward!

Coming up to Isabella, Angela started to lose her composure, and when she finally reached her and got her attention, she managed to only blurt: Hi, Isabella, wanna pair up with me?. Seeing prefect's somewhat surprised expression, she added quickly: I mean... for the boat. She suddenly felt very stupid. But it was too late to back out.

It was just nearing dusk when they had left the Common Room, and Katya was smart to dress warmly. Because although it was warm in the sunlight, the night was a whole other story. The Slytherins, which was the house that Katerina had been sorted into on her first day at the Scottish castle, had just won the House Cup for the month of May. It was a celebration that the young girl enjoyed, and oftentimes looked forward to.

She obediently followed the rest of the students, sticking closer to the middle of the crowd, pulling the hood of her plain black cloak over her head to protect her neck from the chill of the wind. She had tied her long black hair up into a ponytail, and underneath her cloak she had opted for a basic pair of leggings, and a simple long-sleeved black shirt. On her feet she had a pair of sneakers, so hopefully if they were doing anything like she heard they did on the last outing, she would be prepared. She didn't know what to expect, and these were the simplest clothes that her mother had packed her. She kept glancing up wearily at the quarter moon, still not too used to being anything but normal.

They approached the Great Lake, and in front of a bunch of boats stood three professors that Katya could easily recognize. The Astronomy Professor, the Potions Professor, and the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor were awaiting them, and while some people took to the boats, Katya stuck to her spot, inspecting the adults. Her arms still stung greatly from the burns she had acquired in the ball back at the end of May, and she struggled to keep comfortable with them rubbing against the cotton of her shirt.

It hadn’t taken long before the mass of Slytherins arrived to the shore of the Great Lake, meeting up underneath the star-lit sky. The wind was cool, brushing strands of Leonie’s own hair into her face. She constantly had to keep readjusting the tendrils, pushing them back behind her ear. The lake water rippled ever so slightly, causing waves to lap up against the shore, sloshing against the wood of the rowboats that had been enchanted to not tip over in the water. Black and green robes created a small crowd in front of the Head of House, but some students had already gone ahead, climbing into the boats.

“Stop with that!” She yelled angrily, going to the first boat that held a girl (SYRAH) and a boy (CHARLES). She narrowed her eyes at them, then held out her wand as she looked directly at Charles. “And you can go back to the castle. I will not let you derail yet another celebration.” To say that she was still angry from when she’d heard of what happened at the BlossomFest Ball was an understatement. She was still furious that one of her own students would do something so careless, chaotic, and reckless. He had risked the lives of many people, and not to mention in the name of being a ‘pure-blood’, according to witnesses. He was a disgraceful excuse for a pure-blood, and Leonie wouldn’t forget what he had done.

Once the boy had climbed out of his boat and walked back towards the castle, murmuring incoherently under his breath, Leonie turned to the rest of the students. Even so, she kept an eye out for him every now and then from the corner of her eye. It seemed he was capable enough of abiding by what she said, so without further ado, she could begin explaining what they were doing that day. That was, after the student that had been daft enough to get into boats without instruction had joined the small crowd in front of her, Thurston and Fainauriel.

“Welcome to the first official Slytherin House Cup party, everyone.” She announced, not making a big show of it or anything. She was a simple woman with a simple mind, and she didn’t see a need to be extravagant with anything - no matter what it may be. “Tonight we will do something simple, but it is all in good timing. The boats will take us to the centre of the lake, and we will release the lanterns that some of you might have found when you wrongly entered the boat without instruction.” She mentioned, looking pointedly at that girl she had come across, as well as a few others that she had seen in the boats (ARAVIS, NPCS).

“There are a few rules to cover before we begin. One, do not try to tip the boat over. It is enchanted to stay the right side up, and you won’t have even the slightest chance of doing it from your position inside. Two, don’t even think about jumping into the lake. That is just plain stupid and you will end up spending the rest of the time in your soaking wet clothing. Third, don’t make the sea creatures mad. That’s the last thing we need.” Leonie cited, almost groaning at the end. She didn’t know if there was even a way for the students to make them angry, but somehow she believed if there was a will, there was a way.

“You may now find a partner and get into your boats. Bella Hills, you’re with me.” She directed, before looking between Thurston and Fainauriel, “Unless you two have something you would like to add on?”

Certainly, Ms. Scheinberg didn’t expect me to suffer through a night babying an already overly pampered group of First Years? Already I was dreading the prospects of the evening as I watched the first influx of students uncivilly make their way closer. It was all I could do to remain statue-still and watch as they were lead by the two House Prefects. Those two, at least, seemed to have some level of decorum to their character, and I wondered if maybe it would be best to pair myself with one of them so as to find myself in some semblance of comme il faut company. My elven eyes focused on the male contradistinction of the two, deciding on the spot that he would be the one to receive the honor of traversing the Lake in my company.

They all gathered, some more irrepressible than others, but it seemed Ms. Scheinberg had that aspect of the evening covered as she gave the first two perpetrators a verbal lashing. I couldn’t help the Schadenfreude that reflected in my smile as I watched the boy that had caused trouble at the ball leave at the professor’s earnest behest. She was a woman after my own heart. And it was such that without further ado she got down to the nitty-gritty of the matter, explaining to the lot what they would be doing and what would be expected of them. At least two of the three rules she stated found me internalizing my prophetic beliefs that these students could not be trusted to follow the most basic of guidelines. Again, I said nothing, remaining silent on the matter.

When she was finally through and asked if we had anything to add, I quickly piped up with as much intonation as I could be bothered to muster, which was to say that it was found wanting. "Mr. Goodlow, you shall be my consociate this eventide." With that said, I observed some more inward silence as I left the floor open to my colleague, Mr. Barclay, to add what he may so that we could get on with it. It was to be a simple enough chore to get them to the middle of the Lake, release the lanterns, and return to shore so they could be done with the faux celebration and return to their dorms for the night.

When Thurston had been asked by the Head of House, of the noblest house, Miss Scheinberg, if he would be free to help her out, he could have not told her off. As professor of this particular house, it was in his liability to succor her to the best of his abilities. He could say for sure that today's class must have been enlightened when it came to their hearing that today's classes would be cancelled due to the House Cup Party.

It had been evening, around twenty minutes past eight, when the students began to assemble themselves around the three of them, since of course Mister Valtome, had been asked to aid her in keeping the beats of their house in check. Before it even begun, a boy had been sent back to the castle. Not having seen the boy before, yet having heard rumours about the young student, made him smirk slightly; nearly unnoticeable. The young boy had earned himself no less than to be excluded from an event that wished to proceed peacefully and without any unwanted interruptions as the BlossomFest Ball had to endure, as he had shown a ridiculous and irresponsible behaviour endangering the lives of his condisciples.

He would not mind which student he would share a boat with, he would rather have one for him alone of course, but as long as they would not annoy him or try to bespeak him with irrelevant issues, he could deal with any of them.
