- Monica listened, clinging to every word the girl shared about the family history. In this moment of confusion, and despair, it was comforting to know, if she was of this bloodline, how vast and important of a family they seemed to be. And that she had some....Legacy to carry.
At some point during the talk, Aurelia reached out, running her fingers through Monica's hair, and commenting on the beauty of it. Monica smiled, twirling a piece of hair around her finger, remembering the day she went from stark black, to vibrant blue. "It was over summer camp...Truth or dare, I was dared to dye it blue, and just fell in love with it." That was also when she met Hiro, how she wished he were here right now, she felt safe with him, unlike she had really felt with anyone. Hearing Aurelia continue, mentioning how some people would rather see the world burn then woman holding power, Monica nearly stood up, "Well what the heck is wrong with that? Girls can do anything boys can.... and better in most cases." It was a gut reaction, something she grew up to believe, or rather, tried to prove to her two pain-of brothers. How they tormented her, just because she was younger, and a girl!
After Monica had gone in for a hug, and was welcomed into Aurelia's arms, the girl pulled back after a moment, "Perhaps, you could visit the Manor and see Astrid this winter break? She would have much more answers - and stories - for you than I would in a lifetime."
The Manor? Monica sat, staring at the girl for a moment... "That would mean not going home for the holidays..." After saying it out loud, Monica felt a bit of peace, like an escape. After all this discovery over the past week, the last thing she wanted to think about was going home for the holidays... and now fallen into her lap was a chance to not have to worry about it.
Monica smiled, and before even dwelling on anything further she said, "Yes! That sounds like a wonderful idea!" Not having to go home, where she no longer felt wanted, and instead going to a place to hopefully learn more about who she is... it sounded like a win win.
Hopefully Victoria would be okay with it. Soon Monica would go back to her dorm, draft up a letter to send back to Victoria... Seemed like the perfect time to do so. But regardless of what came out of that reply, Monica was grateful that someone seemed to understand what she was going through...
When the two chose to part ways, Monica would give Aurelia a hug, "Thank you." At the time she didn't know what she thanked the girl for, perhaps for everything, for being there... But Aurelia was more of a blessing in Monica's life than either girl may have noticed in this moment. Perhaps Monica's Murky bloodline, was becoming a little bit more clear.
