"Well, yes, my mother always talks about her heritage; she left her home in Bulgaria for my father because her family didn't approve of her being with a human. My father offered to stay with her, give up his dragonologist career if it meant being with her but she wanted to see the sights, go to Europe with him. So after a bit of planning, they finally left and started a family in England. Now she's a successful lawyer, muggles don't suspect a thing!" She smiled widely. "Who could've guessed that a Veela could ever become a lawyer living among muggles? She reminds us to be proud of our nature everyday, some of her family have come to accept us and some don't. But no matter what, I will always be proud...I just wish puberty for halfbreeds was easier. And that I could at least control the entrancing ability, heh.. "

When Simon bumped against her shoulder, she took his hand again, giving it an encouraging squeeze. "I'm glad I met you too! Some days may be harder than most to accept ourselves but we'll make it. If my mother can become a well-respected lawyer in this world as a full Veela, then we half-breeds have a good shot at making it too! No matter what your father says, remember that!" She suddenly stood back up while holding his hand, facing the terrace. Letting go of his hand, Daphne would shout, "Team Half-breeds!!" Daphne exclaimed, it didn't look like anyone was outside and the wind would make it hard for one to hear them from this high anyway. "Come on, say it! You're not going to chicken out 'cause you're a Prefect are you?" She teased.

A plan to litter the school with kindness and awareness with @Daphne Sapphirus

"Wait - your dad offered to give up his.... -what career? Dragonologist?" DRAGONOLOGIST? Daphne's dad was a dragonologist....

Maybe it was a halfbreed thing, or maybe it was some sort of undiagnosed adhd or something, but Simon was focused on two very different pathways of thinking right now. The one was fixated on the dragonologist because DRAGONS WERE COOL! Simon loved learning about them ever since realizing that they were in fact real and not just made up creatures of muggle fiction. And here, Daphne's father, apparently worked with them, studied them, was an expert on them....or something along those lines. Simon wasn't quite exactly sure what a dragonologist did per se, but it dealt with dragons! Dragons!

The other part of him was listening as Daphne spoke about her mother and he smiled. It was pretty apparent that Daphne was proud of her mum. Simon thought that her dragonologist of a father was probably proud too of his wife.

....Maybe his mind was a little swayed to one side of his mindset.

His thoughts sort of silenced some as Daphne got up and literally shouted from the rooftop, making Simon laugh - not in a teasing sort of way but because he liked the good-natured spirit and the turn the evening had taken. There were two students up in the Owlery in a fog and now there were two kindred spirits, two friends.

"If I wasn't going to shout it, it wouldn't be because I'm prefect. It would be because I think you're stark raving mad," he proclaimed as he got up and came to her side. "Lucky for you, I can also be stark raving mad," and he smiled. "TEAM HALF-BREEDS!" he shouted out to the Highlands.

A breeze blew in the next moment, as if nature was taking their voices even further into the night and Simon looked over at her and smiled.

"You know what? Team Half-breeds should unite and we should go get some parchment over at the writer's desk here in the Owlery and put a bunch of notes out celebrating ourselves and all other half-breeds at the school. Show that we're here and show that we're proud. We can have the owls deliver them at morning breakfast or we could sprinkle them around the castle ourselves."

Simon went into the enclosed area of the Owlery to show what he meant. He took one of the pieces of parchment on the desk that was available for if students wanted to write a letter but didn't have the supplies on hand.

Love who you are.
- Team Half-breeds
