Closed Can You Help? pv: Colin McCoire

Keith stood watching Colin daydream about the Ravenclaw girl, he must really be in love with her. Keith thought about how he had been like that the night after he met Clark, and almost every night since.

Colin apologized about daydreaming, "It's fine Colin! Clark is daydreamable too." Keith said, smiling.

Keith listened to Colin, first he said something about Clair, then looked confused for a moment when Keith asked him about Amortentia. Then Colin must have remembered what he had asked Keith only a moment ago, or at least that's what Keith could gather from the look on Colin's face.

Keith had heard about the love thingy. Colin explained it, "Powerful Potion, love potion, knew about the love thing" He thought, then out loud said, "Smells different? That's so, cool? how does that work? Is it like the polyjuice potion? but with smell instead?"Keith asked, tilting his head.

"I don't think anyone gave me it, I didn't drink anything but water that morning, and it was for sure just water. I got it from the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall." Keith said, remembering what he had done before meeting Clark for the first time that day.

Colin began saying more things. "If it's not the potion, then this is a wonderful feeling. If it is the potion, then we need to figure out who gave it to me, and how to fix it." Keith said, in a very serious tone of voice.

"Hmmm. No, I don't think it's like polyjuice. You know, you've got to use a bit of someone's fingernail or hair or something to make that work. I reckon the magic somehow mimics the person. Kind of disgusting, in a way. Almost like cannibalism! Also, ye've got to be sure you've got the right bit of hair or whatever --- I've heard that if you accidentally get a bit of animal hair or feathers or something in the potion, you'll end up growing a tail or wings or something like that!"

Nah, I reckon amortentia isn't like polyjuice. I think it's deeper. From what me seanmamó says, it's more like memories --- even memories you don't remember! So, if you smell the potion, it might be like finding clues, right? Like, if it smells like, umm, bacon and wood and --- I don't know --- wet dog or something, maybe you'll like someone who's got a dog and you ate a bacon sandwich with at a picnic?"

"You only drank water? Well, that must be it then!" Colin punched Keith playfully on the shoulder. "Yeah. You've got a crush! I remember now that you've got to keep drinking it for it to work, right. So, if it was only once, you'd like this Clark kid for like a couple days and then be like 'what the heck!?' But, if ye're still on about him, then I think it must be a real crush. After all, I'm sure it would too difficult a prank to keep pulling off, every day right? And that's so much better. I mean, who wants to like someone only because of a potion, right? That would be like forcing someone to do something. Uncool."

Colin nodded, satisfied with his reasoning. Yep! Another problem solved by the application of reason!
